* 4 Days Before Christmas Eve *
Arranging the film set of a show ended early, so Lynn is currently playing with her cell phone. It was only disturbed when she heard her friend's shrill voice coming from the door of their office.
"Lynn!"
She ignored it as she continued playing. But it didn't last long either because Mia was already shaking her shoulder.
She could do nothing but put away her cell phone and focused on Mia.
"Just make sure that what you'll say is important because I will really hit you."she couldn't help but to say these words.
"Of course. It's more important than your game." Mia replied immediately but running out of breath.
She thought that maybe it's essential. Mia rushed just to let her know about it.
"Today...." Mia swallowed and tried to catch her breath.
"They will draw the winner for the special Christmas date."
She nearly rolled her eyes after she heard this from Mia.
"It's nothing to do with me. I didn't join the raffle, so don't bother me."Mia smirked at her.
"Lynn, you can't hide it from me. Here's the stub of your raffle ticket."
Her forehead furrowed as Mia took the stub on her desk.
"That's not mine."she firmly stated.
"Don't deny, Lynn. Your name is written on it."
She grabbed the stub from Mia and looked at it carefully. She could not believe in her own eyes. Her name was really on it.
"Mia, I swear I didn't buy a ticket-"
"I know you want to save your pride but I'll hear you later."
Mia took the paper off her hand and pulled her out towards the lobby.
The lobby was already crowded when they got there.
"Come on up front, where we can hear numbers better-"
"No way." She objected steadfastly.
"Come on, Lynn."
Mia was about to pull her again, but she grabbed her hand first to stop her.
It's right timing when the Vice President ascended to the platform that they set up this morning.
"Good afternoon, everyone. I won't drag out it anymore, let's roll the raffle drum right away." The vice president said quickly, but there was still excitement in his voice.
"Don't you have a short message before we begin, Sir?"
She could clearly sense it. The host was alarmed, for the vice president doesn't even want to give a message.
"Ah, no need, let's get straight to the raffle. I know you're all tired and you want to rest. I'm sure you'll just be sleepy with my message."
Everyone applauded for what the vice president has just said.
"The vice president is kind as always."
She looked at Mia, and she just laughed about it.
"Stop stating the obvious, the vice president is always kind in your eyes."she remarked.
"Because he genuinely is, " she saw Mia's eyes twinkled as she said this.
"You like him because he's kind, or you just type his body?"she teasingly asked.
She received a beating from Mia.
"I'd rather memorize these ticket numbers than talk to you."
Her friend looks really determined to win. She checks the ticket numbers one by one.
"700082, 700083, 700084, 700085, 700086, 700028"
"But wait, I thought you're going home?" she asked Mia.
"Yes, I asked permission to Miss Faye this morning, and she allowed me." Mia still answered her as she repeated reading the ticket numbers in front of her.
"So why did you buy so many tickets?" she questioned again.
"They are not named after me, but you."
She was completely speechless. She just turned her attention back to the event.
"Before we proceed to the raffle of special Christmas date with superstar, let's first draw the raffle of lucky employees."
"Raffle of lucky employees?" she repeated dumbly.
"Didn't I tell you, there are two raffles. The prizes for the first raffle are flat-screen television, laptop, cellphone, and the grand prize is a car."
She is enraged as soon as she heard this from Mia. She would like to ask why she didn't mention it, but what's the point? She couldn't do anything about it anymore even she argues with her friend.
"But I'm sure not all the tickets you're holding are for the special Christmas date raffle-"
"It's all for Clyde Larson."Mia uttered without hesitation.
"Then can I hit you even just for once?" she asked in her low voice yet gritting her teeth at the same time.
"I'm sorry, Lynn."Mia gives her a sheepish smile.
"Anyway, we can still buy a car as long as we work hard."Mia added with a hopeful voice, pacifying her eventually.
She was filled with regret, especially when she saw the raffle prizes were being given out one by one.
"We will start the raffle that everyone has been waiting for."
And at once, female employees shrieked like a shot. She almost covered her ears.
"So allow me to present the man of this event, Mr. Clyde Larson."
She was almost deaf by the women's high-pitched piercing sound.
She looked at Clyde Larson, for she wanted to make sure that she deserved what she's experiencing now. But apart from being far, Clyde was also wearing a black cap. In the end, she wasn't able to see his face.
