Hugo did not bother to look up as he heard that heavy footsteps coming into the dining. He busied himself with his breakfast, the silence of the dining and the unheard questions from his siblings' minds went unsaid.
He knows they're wondering why Darren isn't with them for breakfast, especially the curious gazes Julien is giving him.
"Where. . ." he heard their father began, "is Henri?"
His voice was dripping all ounce of coldness, threat, and that familiar tone he once used for the first time Henri ran away. He casually sip on his coffee and looked at their father lazily, "In his room"
"Père?" Amandine spoke carefully, eyes alternating between their father to him.
Hugo can feel all of their gazes on him even Alain had the mastered feigned curiosity plastered on his eyes.
