Chapter 16 - The Lawyer & The Lies

Silvery eyes stared at hazel brown eyes. Unblinking and unyielding. The former was keen, observing, and hard to read and the latter was fierce but was easy to crack.

"What is it?" Darren spoke after minutes of holding himself back.

Tim grinned thinking he had won their little staring contest. He shrugged and crossed his arms over his chest.

"Just making sure you're now feeling better"

Darren gulped and lightly nibbled his upper lip. Tim said he was making sure he's feeling better.

When was the last time he had heard that?

Months? Years? Or none at all?

Darren was sure no one had bothered to look if he's better since people just assume so. Denials aside, it quite felt good.

He sighed and shook his head. It's no good to indulge on emotions, right?

"Why wouldn't I be?" he asked and rolled his eyes for a mask. It's no good that Tim can read him and even letting him more would be worse.

Tim's grin turned into a soft smile and Darren clenched his fists. He wanted to pinch those cheeks until it hurts.

"Of fucking course cutie. Why wouldn't you be?" Tim shrugged and nodded.

Darren scowled dramatically. "Next time you don't just drop bombs like that William"

Tim looked at him in disbelief and shook his head, "What the hell happened with Tim?"

"I kind of like your surname" Darren sneered and Tim pouted.

"Call me Tim, call me tim, call me tim, call me tim, call me tim, call me -

"WILLIAM!" Darren shouted and Tim's pout worsen even more. Seriously, it's taking an effect on him.

He looks like a lost muscular lost puppy. Like a mixed pitbull and Alaskan malamute.

"Man I fucking hate my name" Tim murmured and Darren rolled his eyes once more.

He stood up and started to walk away.

"Hey where are you going? Come back here" Tim shouted.

Darren didn't bother answering because he knows Tim will just follow him. Darren went to the kitchen to get some snacks because he's hungry with all that rambling and staring and banters.

He took a plate of cookies from the fridge and poured himself some orange juice. He was just enjoying and vibe on his own, situations happened a while ago completely buried and forgotten.

Yeah, that's it. Situations happen. Move on. Darren repeated on his mind who won't really and actually listen when Tim is in the room.

Like come on, hugs happen all the time. Darren get hugs from Lily, Lee, and his parents. What's new?

He bit his lip. Maybe because this hug came from a certain someone? Someone who as well felt as fit as he looks, almighty, hung, and that smell seems embedded on Darren's memory.

He can still vivid remember his arms around him, fingers smoothly stroking at his back to give comfort and soothe him which from his observations work really well.

And the way Darren was buried in that rigid chest, stone hard and yet soft in his skin. The way his body completely towered over him. It all replayed like a visual memory happening in front of him.

And the way their eyes meet. It felt too dreamy and yet felt too right at the moment. It felt like it was what he needed and it was exactly what he got.

He sighed. There's no need to dwell but the way he was held was worth reminiscing. It was worth all what Darren gives. His selfishness to remember every second of it.

He took a sip of his juice to hold back the smile that's threatening to leave past his lips. Now that he thinks of it, when was the last time he smiled? When was the last time he felt the need to smile to let something off of his mind?

"Someone's calling" Darren was interrupted when Tim's voice came into the scene.

Darren turned his head to look at him and saw him handing him his phone. He rolled his eyes when Tim winked and took a cookie from the plate.

Darren looked at his phone and blinked for several times when he saw the caller. He wasn't dreaming, was he?

Why is Meyers calling him? He forgot to delete his contact! He still had his number saved on his phone under the name of Atty. Meyers.

He tentatively pushed the answer button, wary of Tim's eyes watching him.

"What?" his voice came out a little sharper, disregarding Tim's raised eyebrow when he heard how tone is with the lawyer.

"Lord Chu -

"What is it?" he cut him off, blinking at Tim when he tilted his head with a smirk on those tantalizing cherry colored lips.

Wait. . . what? Did he always have those lips red like that? Darren didn't notice?

"I just want to inform you I was notified by the police just yesterday that you had accidentally stepped a foot outside. Haven't you informed the authorities I am no longer the lawyer of your case?" Meyer's voice sounded hesitant.

Darren huffed. "Why don't you do it?"

He heard Tim's amused laugh on the background.

"Lord Chu, I can still take up on you -

"No." he cut him off quickly and ended the call. Sighing deeply, he glared at Tim's entertained expression.

"What?" he asked. Tim shrugged. "That's how you talk to your fucking lawyer?"

Darren rolled his eyes dramatically. "He's not my lawyer" the answer rolled off his tongue easily which he realized may not be good when Tim's eyes turned curious.

Well, right. Nice one.

"Then why is Atty. Meyers called Atty. Meyers in your phone?" he asked as if he had known Meyers.

"What do you want me to name him? Arsehole Meyers?" Though that sounded great, Darren frowned at him.

Tim regarded him for a moment. He studied Darren and shrugged afterwards, easily sitting across him.

He snatched Darren's glass of juice. "Who is your lawyer then?"

Oh god. That question sounded horrible. Darren gulped a little as he watch Tim took a sip.

"Why do you care?" he asked doubtful of Tim's secret intentions.

Tim shrugged easily. "I may want your house arrest lifted off so I could fucking take you out on a damn gorgeous date"

Darren looked at him surprised because what? He said what?! Date?! He will take him in a date?!

He knotted his forehead. "W-what?"

"You heard me" Tim winked.

"Tch! I won't tell you. It's not as if you even know him. You're practically no one"

Tim's usual smirk returned in his face. He chuckled deep in his throat and smiled right after. "Freaking try me"

Darren bit his lip. It's also not as if Darren know a lot of lawyers. He only know two? Meyers, Lily's family lawyer, and oh, well, three if you include that french lawyer.

Darren thought for a second. He cannot recall if someone had bothered to tell him his name is. He only know that missing lawyer is french who came from a royal family. So, he might be a prince or the heir to the throne.

Darren nibbled on his lisps and eyed Tim straight. "He's french, he's on vacation, and doesn't want to be disturbed"

Darren had never wished and hoped hard in his entire existence as those words came out. Praying Tim doesn't catch on his bag of lies.

Tim blinked once and raised an eyebrow as he went back to tilting his head slightly. "He is?"

"I doubt you would even know his name. He came from a royal family and you're basically a commoner" he insulted and Tim grinned as he leaned his cheek on his palm.

"Ohoh, is that fucking right?" there was taunting on Tim's voice to which Darren scowled at.

"Shut up arsehole"

Tim burst out laughing. Clearly beguiled enough. He stood up and walked to his seat, Darren looked up at him innocently.

He bite back the gasp that threatened to leave his mouth when Tim's knuckles brush softly against his cheek.

Tim smirked at him as he opened his mouth and spoke mischievously. Darren felt the chills at the back of his neck. "Alright. We're having a game night"
