A few days passed after Riku L. saw the remnants of Riku F's magic awakening. Both of the Rikus were starting to get used to the worlds they were in. Riku F. trained Riku L's body to the best of his ability, unable to do some of the most basic of exercises with his current strength. He wasn't expecting to make progress in just a few days, but not being able to do even the most basic of exercises frustrated him.
On the other hand, Riku L. didn't struggle at all with keeping Riku F's body fit. He was able to do everything Riku F. told him to do with ease due to his body already being fit. Riku L. was amazed at the new stamina he had. At first he complained about everything Riku F. told him to do, but after he completed his tasks, he wasn't even that tired, and even decided to do a few more exercises on his own a few times.
The two would keep each other updated, though nothing interesting seemed to be happening to either of them yet. That is, until Riku L. got a sudden hologram notification from his watch. It read, Riku F. noticed at gym after defending a woman from a few brutes and gained moderate damage in battle.
"W-What the hell is this..?!" He didn't hesitate to message Riku F. "Hey! Are you alright?!" He also managed to send a picture of the notification that popped up. However, there was no answer. He waited five minutes, then ten, twenty, more. "Son of a...he isn't dead is he..?" He walked back and forth, full of nerves.
He took some time to beat up some of the dummies in the area of the training facility he was in. Even after another hour of training, there was still no reply. "God dammit, you better not be dead!" He shouted, almost tearing off his watch and throwing it in anger. He sent a few more messages in the time that had passed, drinking an energy drink as well as he sat and rested his body that was finally feeling fatigue after another hour. He panted and wiped the sweat that dripped from his forehead. He couldn't tell if the sweat was caused by the workout or his nerves.
He sighed as he spun around in one of the computer chairs, rolling around in the main building in the open space. "I'm so bored... Do I really spend that much time talking to F?" He sighed and leaned the chair back, only to fall back with the chair. "A-Ahh!" He fell back and rolled out of the chair. "Ugh...that would've felt much worse if it weren't for Riku F's body..."
He brought his hands together, closing his eyes. "Thank you for working your body to the bone everyday so I didn't have to feel this pain...and I apologize for not doing the same to mine so you wouldn't be in whatever position you are right now..." Riku L. frowned, worried about Riku F. and blaming himself for whatever must've happened to F.
Just then, a notification popped up and he jumped up, quickly looking at it. "Sorry. I think I'm in a healing chamber or something. What is that notification anyway?" Riku F. had finally replied.
Riku L. began typing his reply instantly. "It's called a hospital and I don't know, it just popped up suddenly. I got worried."
"Cute, 'you' worried about 'me'?" Riku F. replied and Riku L. rolled his eyes, regretting worrying so much. Riku F. sent another message. "I'm guessing when anything notable happens to one of us, the other will get notified. At least, that's what it looks like from this picture. It explains everything in perfect detail."
Indeed what had happened to F. was explained in perfect detail, like what you would get if you read a news article. It even had what the brutes had said to the woman which couldn't have been heard or reported correctly by any kind of reporter unless they were right next to them.
"Well, we won't be able to tell until something notable happens to me. I guess it has to involve other people or you would've gotten a notification of the bee attack right after you woke up." Riku L. replied.
"Which would've only made me more confused. It even says 'Riku F.' like we came up with." Riku F. responded.
"It's like we're being watched or something..."
"Well if we are, I think we should stay on our toes. Keep your eyes peeled for anything that seems odd or tell me if you feel like you're being watched and I'll do the same."
"Right... Anyways, how are you doing?"
Riku F. sighed as he began typing his reply. He hadn't broken anything, but he was covered in bruises, a black eye, and a swollen lip. "It's not that bad. The beating I got from those mages I told you about was way worse. This is nothing I can't deal with, but I really need to train your body as fast as I can, so it doesn't happen again...Don't go blaming yourself or anything though. Unlike me, you didn't have a reason to keep your body fit, that I know of. I'll take care of everything, so don't worry about it."
Riku L smiled to himself before replying. "Right, I'll keep that in mind, Mister Hero."
"Right." Riku F. looked at the message in confusion before putting the phone aside.
Riku L. chuckled a bit and stood up. "I guess I should start heading back then." He walked out and whistled for Roco, to which he flew over and landed in front of him. "Ready to go back buddy?" He grinned and Roco cooed, kneeling down so he could get on. Riku jumped and landed on his back, holding onto his vest as he stood up, spreading his wings. "Let's head back fast, I'm starving! I'm sure you are too, so I'll make a feast!" Roco cawed happily and flew off, making the ground shake a bit from the force and Riku laughed, holding onto him. He smiled as they flew, enjoying the feeling of the wind on his skin as they flew under the clouds.
A few moments later, Riku L. just happened to look down and saw a flash. "What the..?" His eyes widened and he quickly grabbed a handle on the vest, pulling and making Roco turn as a sudden beam of light shot past them. "Roco! Go!" Riku yelled at Roco but something else suddenly struck Roco and he squawked in pain and slowly began barreling to the ground. "Shit..! Mayday mayday, we're going down!"
They crashed and skidding against the ground of the forest, Riku being thrown off of Roco and rolled a few times as well, crashing into a tree. "Agh..! Nngh...ow..." Roco was stopped by a pile of dirt that had piled up as he skidded against the ground, a streak left in the ground from their crash.
"Well well well, what do we have here?~" An unfamiliar voice said as three figures began walking toward the two of them.
