Chapter 21 - SADNESS OF THE HEART

With real intent, Allam served his sentence without complaining. All of Fazrani's words gave Allam the strength to be more eager to finish his sentence.

It was exactly seven days that Allam's sentence ended and Allam got a very extraordinary knowledge and lesson.

All the incidents that have happened, the law of the Village that Allam has lived, and the punishment for studying in a boarding school made Allam's personality and attitude change drastically. But not with his love for Fazrani, his love grew even more like flowers that grow in spring.

With his clear eyes, Allam smiled outside the door of the Islamic boarding school.

His gaze led to a rather large shop selling a variety of exquisite flowers.

Allam stepped closer to the flower seller.

"Assalamualaikum, sir." said Allam with a smile.

"Waalaikumsalam, what are you looking for sir?" asked the flower seller when he saw Allam's eyes looking for something.

"I want to find a beautiful flower for a perfect woman, sir." Allam replied matter-of-factly.

"Oh, usually a bunch of roses or lilies, sir." said the flower seller while showing some roses and Lily which had been packed in very beautiful wrappers.

"How many days will these flowers last, sir?" Allam asked, staring at the bunch of roses in his hand.

"Only a few days, sir, lasts a week the longest and after that it withers." replied the flower seller with a smile.

"I want flowers that won't wither easily, sir, if they can continue to bloom." Allam said seriously but made the flower seller smile broadly.

"If you are looking for a flower that does not wither easily and always grows, you can buy this rose along with the flower holder." said the flower seller, pointing out the roses that were already in the flower bed with the flowers in full bloom.

"All right sir, I bought this one." Allam said with a smile, imagining Fazrani's face, who would be happy to receive a rose sign of love from him.

Carrying a rose in a pot, Allam took a transportation to Kunjang village.

Entering Kukung Village, Allam gets off the transportation and intends to walk to his house.

Entering Kukung Village, Allam gets off the transportation and intends to walk to his house. On his way back to his house, Allam felt the gaze of several villagers who were met on the street still staring at him like a criminal who must be excommunicated.

"After all, a person who has done indecent acts cannot be confused with Hafiz who is basically a good person." said one of the mothers who were gathered sitting on the side of the road.

"I'm sure Fazrani is just a pity, not at all compatible with unscrupulous men. The match between Fazrani and Hafiz. I see him very happy." said someone again while glancing sarcastically at Allam who was still walking slowly while listening to the chatter of the mothers.

Allam's heart broke at the words of mothers who had no heart at all.

With a sad heart, Allam continued his journey until he got home.

Almost at his house, Allam's heart was even more shocked when he saw Hafiz from afar out of his door.

Allam's heart was filled with disappointment and jealousy.

With a sense of despair, Allam entered his house.

"Assalamualaikum." Allam said to his mother who was looking after her shop.

"Waalaikumsallam. Allam? you come home? you come home why don't you tell me?" asked Laila with successive questions.

"Yes Mom, my plan was to give a surprise it turned out that I was the one who got a surprise." Allam said, insinuating Hafiz's arrival.

"What a surprise, Allam?" asked Laila, who did not understand what Allam was saying.

"I saw Hafiz come out of this house Mom, is Hafiz looking for Fazrani?" Allam asked with a still aching heart.

"Oh yeah, why Lam? Hafiz came here to give teaching material books because Hafiz wanted to return to the city again." Laila explained staring at Allam's face, which looked grim.

"It's okay Mom, where is Fazrani now?" Asked Allam, who had been holding back his longing for Fazrani but had subsided by the events that had happened to him on his way home.

"Fazrani is on top, why are you Lam?" Laila asked, feeling that something was happening to Allam.

"There's nothing Mom, I'm going upstairs first." Allam said in a low voice as he brought a rose up into the room.

At the door of the room, Allam held his breath that felt short.

"Assalamualaikum." Allam said as he knocked on the door of his room.

Not waiting for a long time the door to the room opened and there was a beautiful face of Fazrani who was standing at the door staring at him unblinking.

"Zra." Allam said in a trembling voice.

Fazrani remained rooted in her place without responding to Allam's greeting.

"Fazrani." Called Allam again with feelings of longing mixed with despair to get Fazrani's love.

"Allam? you? why don't you give news when you go home? I can pick you up with Dad." said Fazrani, pulling Allam's hand into the room with a shocked heart.

"I intend to surprise you Zra." said Allam still standing with his hand in Fazrani's.

"Sit down first Lam, you must be tired of traveling quite a distance." said Fazrani, placing Allam down to sit on the edge of the bed.

"I'm not too tired Zra, it's just my heart that hurts and is tired." Allam said as he looked away.

Fazrani was silent in suffering from Allam's words which implied a sense of sadness and disappointment.

"Wait a moment, Lam." said Fazrani then took a glass of water and gave it to Allam who was silent.

"Drink first, then tell me what's wrong? I know you are sad and disappointed." said Fazrani taking a seat beside Allam.

Allam was silent for a moment after drinking a glass of water from Fazrani.

"Tell me now? I will listen." Said Fazrani, lifting Allam's chin and staring at Allam's foggy face.

"I'm desperate Zra ... I'm desperate to get your love, everyone seems like no one is sincere with me who married you." Allam said, looking at Fazrani with a heart that hurts again, remembering the words of all those who still hate him.

"Allam, what are you saying? everyone, who is not sincere? tell me from the beginning, I still don't understand what you are saying." said Fazrani seriously.

With a heavy heart, Allam told what happened and what he had heard and also about Hafiz whom he saw leaving his house.

Fazrani listened carefully without interrupting Allam's story. After Allam finished telling the story, Fazrani got up from her seat and smiled sweetly at Allam.

"Get up Lam." said Fazrani who was standing in his place.

Without being able to think, Allam rose from his seat and stood right in front of Fazrani.

"Don't you miss me Lam?" Fazrani asked, staring full of jealousy on Allam's face.

Allam raised his face to meet Fazrani's gaze which was so very shady.

"When I heard that I was allowed to go home, at that moment I immediately packed up without waiting for breakfast. Only one thing I thought at that time wanted to meet you and see your face again." Allam said, expressing what he felt.

"Tell Fazrani what that means?" Allam asked in a low voice.

"That's the name you miss." Fazrani replied with a smile as she took off her veil slowly.

Allam's palms were sweaty with a pounding heart.

Fazrani's face is clearly visible without make up but it is very eye-catching.

"You can see my face now until you feel less homesick." Said Fazrani staring at Allam's unblinking eyes.

"And if my longing increases how?" Allam asked in a choked voice.

"Then I will not wear this veil while the two of us are in this room, until your longing has been completely healed." Fazrani replied trying to calm her own heart, which was also beating wildly.

"My longing will not be relieved, I will always miss you Zra." Allam said seriously.

"You can hug me now if you miss me." said Fazrani with slightly stretching her hands.

"I'm ... not used to hugging you, I'm afraid you can't breathe if I've hugged you." Allam said as if his heart wanted to hug Fazrani with all his longing.

"My breath is strong enough to receive my husband's longing hug. The longing he has endured for days." said Fazrani, looking softly at Allam's face.

With a slightly trembling body, Allam leaned closer to Fazrani's body, which smells good with its minty aroma.

"Fazrani." Allam called in a trembling voice hugging Fazrani's body very tightly.

"I miss you, miss you very much Fazrani." Allam said motionless in hugging Fazrani.

Fazrani's chest feels tight. It's not really tight because Allam's hug is so tight, but the feeling of tightness with her longing is the same as what Allam felt.

"Tell me Zra, do you miss me too? or the feeling of my love is still one-sided?" Allam asked with a look of hope.

Fazrani met Allam's gaze with the sweetest smile she has.

"Of course Lam, I miss you too." Said Fazrani cupping Allam's face, who looked silent without blinking at her.

"Really Zra? you miss me too? I can't believe you can forget your feelings for Hafiz, isn't your love not easy to turn away?" Allam asked with a question that made Fazrani irritated and annoyed.

"You must be tired and hungry, right? take a shower first, I will prepare your food." said Fazrani smiling without replying to Allam's question which for Allam really needed an answer from Fazrani.

"Fazrani." called Allam guiltily.

"What?" said Allam with a full gaze.

"Are you angry with my question? I'm sorry, I really don't know myself who has dared to ask about your true feelings." said Allam who regretted his question.

"Take a shower first ... after that you eat, then after that we continue our conversation, I will answer after you finish bathing." said Fazrani handing a clean towel to Allam.

"Fazrani, answer my question. Do you love me? please ...." said Allam with a look full of hope.
