The Hook Drake drawn carriage ride took about 4 hours. The route was scenic and all, but I was more drawn into the ride by all the odd creatures, or in this world, monsters, that were flying, running, and crawling around. I really was in a new world huh?
"Hey, Kose?" The womans voice rang out and brought me back to reality.
"Uh, yes ma'am?" I smiled and looked at her, my head tilted a bit curiously.
"Do you know anything about Hunters? Or the school and arts for that matter?" She leaned in, even more curious then I was.
"N-no I don't, not really." I blushed and looked away quickly once more. What was with this woman and showing off her goods!
"Ah! Let me explain!" She shot upright, which caused me to sigh of relief, hopefully not being seen doing so.
"So, a Hunter protects the towns and cities here from the monsters and other oddities that may put them at risk." She smiles brightly, seemingly happy with her own explanation.
"So Hunters are like, knights?" I raised an eyebrow when asking this, remembering the stories of knights and kingdoms I used to read. Was this world like that?
"No no! Knights only protect the Capitol, they don't like dirty work.." She grumbled that last bit. Knights here didn't seem very knightly, which was sad.
"Anyway, we Hunters do most of the work. We get good pay and awesome gear." Her voice seemed to pick up in a hint of joy with the idea of gear. Looking at her own gear it was...more of a loose outfit then anything protective. I guess monsters of this world have some high defensive qualities.
"So the gear is really good?" I couldn't help but let my voice feel astounded at this point, maybe a bit surprised even.
"Mhm! My gear has speed qualities, good for my bow weapon choice!" She smiled brightly at pointed at her bow.
After this little conversation I looked back to the surrounding area, the approaching city.
"Wow, what is this place..?" I said softly, looking at the girl.
"This is the Capitol. We have to train newbies here since it's the safest location after all." She smiled softly. "Don't worry though, we'll properly test your abilities and give you a ranking." She lightly clapped her hands.
"A ranking? Jeez, this school will be annoying then huh?" I rubbed the back of my head and sighed.
"Well, the ranking does make it competitive so I can see why you'd say that. I was only a Copper 2 rank, which is almost top tier for Coppers, but it's the second lowest tier heh.." She looked a little upset at this bit.
"That's ok, you seem to do just fine anyway after all." I smiled, which did seem to help reassure her.
"Thanks Kose, let's get you all prepped!" She yelled excitedly, and with those words the carriage stopped.
I looked out the window to see a large building. It had a white exterior, which didn't seem very school like, by my knowledge at least. The doors were a dark color, and you could see the well lit rooms through the many windows that were littered along the walls.
"Wow.." Was all I could say. All I could manage to let out really, not all I wanted to say in the slightest.
"Welcome to the school, let's go!" The woman jumped out and waited, hopping excitedly.
I chuckled and got out, following her inside, and to my own room. This was going to be a odd time for me.
