Chereads / Married To Sophistication / Chapter 13 - Getting Closer

Chapter 13 - Getting Closer

When Sophia was done meeting with her client, she decided to go over to Tunde's place. They had both agreed to meet there, later in the evening.

As she got down from her car, she caught sight of something running toward her, and she let out a loud scream, the moment she realized it was one of Tunde's dogs.

She immediately ran towards the door of the house, and suddenly she felt a hand around her arm, making her scream even louder.

"It's okay, I'm here it won't bite you" Came Tunde's soothing voice to ear.

Sophia opened her eyes and found it was Tunde holding her arm, and the mean looking dog, was still growling behind him, she immediately jumped on Tunde.

Tunde was fast to catch her as she jumped on him, Sophia wrapped her legs around him, and buried her head in his neck, out of fear. He carried her into the house.

"You can open your eyes now"

Sophia opened her eyes, and found out they were already in Tunde's sitting room, that was when she realized what she had done, Tunde was carrying her. She jumped down immediately. But that wasn't much of a smart move either, as she was now standing facing him, with their lips only few inches apart. She could feel his warm breath on her face.

The moment she jumped down, Tunde's body protested. It was as if a part of him had left. His eyes were on her lips, he wondered if they would taste as soft as they looked. And as if to taunt him even more, Sophia slowly licked her lips. He could tell it was a subconscious act, because she immediately stepped back when she realized they were standing so close.

"I'm sorry I jumped on you, I really don't like dogs, and I didn't know one of them was out of it's cage, and I…" Sophia stopped talking. When she realized she was rambling, and Tunde had his hand on her arm again.

"It's okay, I should be the one apologizing, I should have caged it, when you told me you were on your way. It escaped my memory, and I am sorry"

Sophia looked at where Tunde's hand was on her arm, and he immediately dropped it.

"It's okay, you said you had something to discuss with me?" Sophia went over to sit on one of the couch, so she could put a distance between the two of them.

"Yeah, just give me a minute" Tunde climbed upstairs, and came back holding a small velvet box.

He came to where Sophia was sitting, and took out a beautiful, and an expensive engagement ring, from the box.

"What is this for?" Sophia asked, her eyes widening at the sight of the beautiful ring.

"It's an engagement ring, I thought we both agreed to announce our engagement in few days?"

"Yes, but I didn't think you would be getting something this expensive for a fake engagement?"

Her reaction made Tunde smile, "Sophia, my family is rich, and so am I. And if we are to announce our engagement with a ring of inferior quality, people would notice, and that could raise dust"

"I guess, you have a point"

"Good, so can I put the ring on you now?"

"Yeah sure" Sophia stretched out her left hand to Tunde, who took it and slipped the ring on her middle finger.

It was a three stone engagement ring, each stone had a brilliant cut, and the band of the ring, had tiny diamonds embedded into it, this gave the ring, a certain sparkle, and glow.

"So we are officially engaged, and we would be announcing our engagement in two days time"

"That's okay by me. But I think we might have a little issue with the wedding"

"What is that?"

"Your mom, isn't happy that we are having only fifty guests for the wedding, she is very upset with it"

"Don't worry, she will come around, I already told her it's our wedding not hers, so she would have to respect our decision"

"I know, but I still think we should increase the number of guests a little, maybe to a hundred?"

"Will that make you happy?" Tunde asked with a concerned look on his face.

"Yes, and also your mom as well"

"If you say so, you actually know I don't have a problem with whatever decision you make on this issue, so if you want us to increase the number of guests to hundred, then it's fine by me"
