Xu xiaochen, the most unfortunate soul in the apartment block no one really knew what her mother did for work and her father had recently passed away, the other parents that lived in the apartment building talked ill of xiaochen. Many parents thought she had some disease because of the way she looked, they just thought there was no way she was a healthy child. Her skin was just pale ghostly pale, Not to mention she was thin and took many medications. Xioachen was bullied often at school until they found a new target then xiaochen when to being no one, you may wonder why xiaochen was bullied at school it was because she often brought misfortune to people anyone who tried to be friends with her would have bad luck. That was until she met huang yanan he always seemed to be lucky when he was with her, she was his good luck charm. Until the incident happened where the school mean girl attempted to frame her for the death of yanan's crush Sally who happened to be a twin, her brother brian also was friends with xiaochen. The evidence was released that yuqi set this up, ever since people have attempted to apologize to xiaochen for blaming her but she will never forgive herself. Just like any day xiaochen cooked breakfast for her mother and a very small portion for herself , normally xiaochen and her mother would engage in conflict but xiaochen mother was concerned for the small girl. She was eating less and xiaochen had become a selective mute in certain situations she could talk but certain things would make her freeze up and she couldn't talk at all no matter how hard she tried. Xiaochen never spoke in school, she would just endure everything that came her way, eventually the teachers left her alone. Xiaochen was very intelligent; she just didn't speak. Just like any other day, xiaochen just wanted to be alone. This desire to be alone was very strong,
She walked to a place behind the school that had a large lake that was actually quite deep. Sitting at the edge of the lake with her knees to her chest she thought she was completely alone and she let out a sigh of relief, when yanan came out of nowhere "xiaochen get away from there!" he said, pulling her away from the lake. Being alone did not last long sadly. Xiaochen couldn't express her anger and frustration toward yanan at the moment, because she felt as if she couldn't speak to him. Feeling frozen in place, xiaochen just looked at yanan blankly "sorry monitor." was all she managed to mutter before attempting to walk away, every time she saw yanan she felt the life drain out of her as the event constantly played in her head. When she focused into reality yanan had grabbed her wrist to stop her she looked at her wrist then at him, girls wrist was a lot thinner than it used to be she could slip right out of his if she wanted to but she just continued to walk, this time the male had a tight grip on her wrist making her stop she looked at her wrist then him and gently attempted to pull her hand away but failed "Xiaochen can we please talk? he asked softly to which she simply shook her head no and tried to fight the older male to get out his grip, "xiaochen please." the older pleaded but as much as xiaochen did not want to talk to him she finally gave in and faced him not looking him in the eyes. "Xiaochen-ah, I'm sorry for blaming you. It wasn't your fault how can I make it up to you?" Yanan asked xiaochen didn't say anything she just continued to stare blankly when brian came up out of nowhere there was brian approaching them, when xiaochen caught the sight of brian out the corner of her eye, she started to try to escape yanan grip even more wanting to escape. Finally she managed to escape yanan's grip running away back to the school the two males stood there quietly before letting out a small disappointed sigh then heading back to class. When yanan spotted xiaochen sitting in class he was going to go talk to her but then the bell rang so he went to his seat and class started again, when school was over xiaochen was the first to dash out of the classroom she was exiting the building when she was stopped by someone grabbing her by her wrist. Xiaochen hated this situation because she knew exactly who had stopped her, it was brian and he was dragging off to the side to talk to her. "Xiaochen we need to talk please," he said softly as they stood at the back of the school xiaochen sighed in defeat. She couldn't avoid them forever. She pulled her wrist away from the male " would you just leave me alone." xiaochen sighed quietly "but you know i can't, i have to apologize for everything it was wrong of me to say the things i did." brian said, looking at her but she wasn't looking at him "i just need time to get better brian, okay? Now leave me alone." she said walking away from him to go home when yanan saw xiaochen walking away from brian, when xiaochen got home she sighed she was glad to be all alone to gather herself not that it would happen she continued to blame herself for what happened to yuqi. though it wasn't her fault she felt as if she was to blame for everything. She always brought misfortune to the people around her, it was just a matter of time before she brought misfortune to the people around her, it was just a matter of time til she brought misfortune to yanan and brian. But this was the most misfortune she had brought to anyone. Eventually xiaochen forced herself to get up and started cooking dinner for her and her mother, putting on her apron and tying her hair back into a ponytail when she heard knocking on her door "mother did you forget your keys again, silly mother." xiaochen said quietly when she opened the door she nearly fainted in shock from who was at the door "m-mrs & m-mr. Zhang?!brian?!!" xiaochen gasped if she wasn't already ghostly pale she definitely was now "is now a bad time?"
Mrs.zhang asked "no,no ofcourse not please come in," xiaochen said, stepping out the way letting them in "i-im sorry i was preparing dinner...would care to join us?" xiaochen asked as she led them to the dining table causing an awkward atmosphere in the room "if you came here looking for my mother she won't be here until tomorrow evening." she added as she brought in a teapot with hot water in it, setting it on the table carefully, "well we did come to talk to your mother, so we'll come back tomorrow." they said getting ready to leave when they paused "ah, but i'm sure brian has something to say to you." mrs.zhang said nudging brian who was just staring at xiaochen, who wasn't too fond of the idea of brian staying behind at all she wanted to have dinner in peace, this is why she lied to them in the first place "is this a nice way of saying you want me to babysit brian?" she asked teasingly, making the couple laugh while brian gasped and pouted "hey, im older than you!" he whined, xiaochen smiled slightly as the couple left brian stayed behind, xiaochen continued to get things out to cook while brian stood there awkwardly. "You know...you don't have to stand there, you can sit in the dining room." Xiaochen said softly as she was walking past brian he grabbed her by her waist and pulled toward him making her squeak, before looking up at him a bit shocked "what was that for?" she asked trying to get out of the older male's grip "you're avoiding me again." brian said sadly looking at the younger who had stop struggling knew the older wasn't necessarily wrong was just upset about this, "i-i'm not avoiding you im, just b-busy right now." she said trying to get out of the older males grip and just as the younger girl was struggling to get out of the older males grip there was a knock on the door, making the older let go of her and as she went to answer the door brian followed behind her. Xiaochen realized she still had not cooked yet and mentally sighed when she opened the door she looked up only to see her neighbour, her old best friend, a person definitely wanted to avoid as well. Xiaochen froze with shock "y-yanan?!" she panicked nearly fainting this was going Tonight was just not the night for xiaochen.
