PROLOGUE
"Lou!" Was heard across the length of the school hallway, causing more than a few heads to turn toward the aforementioned 'Lou'.
More attention than appreciated was suddenly thrown at the blue-eyed boy, making him blush a furious red as he stuck his head down and walked over to his idiot friend, hoping Niall's much too loud voice wouldn't grab the attention of Nick.
But luck seemed not to be on Louis' side and he soon had a larger figure walking next to him.
"Hey, Louise, how's it going?" Nick chirped, way too happily for Louis' liking.
"Nick," Louis sighed, completely used to this situation.
"You going over to see your boyfriend, cocksucker?" It was nothing Louis wasn't used to, so he just sighed in annoyance and turned to Nick.
"Nick." He started.
"Yes, Louise?" Nick cut in.
"How many times are we going to go over this?" Louis asked, exasperated.
"Go over what?" Nick says, voice laced with faux innocence.
Louis took a deep breath, "Alright then, you brought this on yourself... Again." He warned, before starting the all-too-familiar rant, "Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I'm a girl, I'm homosexual, not trans, my name is Louis, not Louise. You are the only homophobic person in this godforsaken school, and no one likes you for it. It's 2020 for fucks sake, homophobia shouldn't be a thing anymore and you really need to get over the fact that I'm attracted to men, it's not like I'm crushing on you and my life doesn't concern you so just back off. Niall is my best friend, not my boyfriend, I am not suddenly dating any boy I talk to and the sooner you get that through your thick scull the less stupid you will look!" He finished, not giving Nick time to respond before turning on his heel and sauntering over to a cackling Niall, completely ignoring the looks of the people around him. It seems he raised his voice a bit in his rant.
His confident facade soon faltered though as soon as he was standing by Niall. He doesn't like attention. He's in the shadows and that's how he likes it, Niall's the only person he needs, everyone else is irrelevant.
"I'm gonna kill you," He mutters in Niall's ear as they walk to the dance studio.
Both boys are dancers, Niall more into ballet while Louis leans into contemporary. They actually met through dance. They were year 9's, new to High School. Louis being the shy anti-social person he is, kept to himself, not talking to anyone or trying to make new friends. Niall saw him sitting alone and introduced himself, there were only a few guys in the class so he figured they could be friends. And Louis has never been more grateful.
Four years down the line and it's their last year before University, Louis and Niall have been busting their arse's the last few years wanting to get into Julliard School of Dance. They know it's in New York, another country, but it's the dream school for any dancer and they'd do just about anything to get in.
Niall just laughed his oh so recognisable Niall laugh and bumped Louis' shoulder with his own.
"Sorry, Lou. I will admit though, it is rather entertaining watching you slay him like that," He said fist bumping Louis.
Louis just rolled his eyes at his friend, "I still don't get why he just gives me shit though. I'm not the only gay person in this school, you are literally exhibit A." He laughed.
It was silent for a moment before Niall spoke up, "I've got it!" He exclaimed too excitedly for a conversation about Dick Grimshit, "He's got internalised homophobia and is secretly crushing on you." He stated, "It makes sense," He added.
Louis pondered for a moment, as they entered the men's changing rooms to put on their practice clothes, "Y'know, I'd actually feel bad if that were the case, because he's just not my type and I'd hate to embarrass him about something he'd probably be insecure about," He said with earnest.
Niall looked at him dumbly, "How are you like this? You wouldn't want to embarrass someone who literally makes fun of you for your sexuality." He stated in confirmation.
"Embarrassment is never fun, Niall." He said obviously. "Anyway, can we like, not talk about the possibility of Grimshit liking me? It's not exactly a pleasant thought." He shuddered.
Niall just laughed, again. "Sure mate, whatever you want." He said pulling his shirt over his head, "What we can talk about though, is how damn good Zayn looks today. I mean, the word 'Daddy' comes to mind." He practically drools.
"Of course, it does, I'm pretty sure you say that every day," Louis rolls his eyes, "When are you gonna actually talk to him?"
"Hmm, let me see." He said in faux thought making Louis roll his eyes again, "Never."
"C'mon, Ni, for all you know he's salivating over you too!" He exclaimed.
"Or, he's really not salivating over me and is in fact straight." He said simply.
Louis just sighed as they left the room. He'll have to help work on Niall's confidence.

Almost an hour later the boys are sitting on the floor in the gym with their dance teacher, Miss Teasdale in front of them.
"Alright, I know it's a while away, but this is an important year and those looking to get scholarships or go to important Universities will want to pay attention to this." She said, looking at Niall and Louis. It's no secret they take this class the most seriously.
Your end of year assignment is to choreograph a song of your choice with a dance of your choice. You must clear the song with me so I can deem it appropriate. It must be at least duo's and at most a group of four. You do not have to perform it in front of the class, but it must be recorded by me and we have two scouts from Julliard coming to check out our talent. My advice to you would be to get thinking and start working on it so you can perfect it by the end of the year. You'll have class time to work on it but not every class." She says handing assignment sheets out to everyone. "This sheet has all the information you'll need on it. That's all for today, guys, go get changed."
As everyone stood up Miss Teasdale called out to Niall and Louis.
"I'm gonna be honest with you, I think Julliard will want you both if you put your all into this assignment," she said making the boys smile, "But, as someone who's watched you, boys, dance for the last four years, I think you need to focus this assignment on your respective dances of choice. By that I mean Niall, I think you should do this assignment on ballet and Louis, contemporary. That does mean you'll need to find new dance partners though, I'm sorry boys, the choice is yours though and I wish you the best of luck."
With that, she walked away, leaving the two boys with a lot to think about.
