Boy: "You do know attacking a government official could get you in serious trouble, right?"
Kira: "When it comes to my family, it doesn't matter who I fight"
Eh? Family? What is she talking about? Is she a relative of mine?
Boy: "Whatever, it won't matter in the end cause I'll be taking both of you in"
The boy quickly shot a beam of concentrated water at Kira, he then followed through with a second one. She dodged them both, as expected. She has the fastest combination of elements possible. Neither of them are low leveled, so the counter-element strategy doesn't work. Kira went on the offensive and went for a blow to the liver.
Me: "He blocked that?!"
He spread water over his stomach and decreased its temperature to freeze it. By doing so, she ended up hitting rock hard ice. Fortunately the light element protected her hands, so neither really took any damage.
Boy: "You're more skilled than I expected, but I don't underestimate my opponents"
Kira: "As expected, not just any elemental is chosen to join Hojichi's elite team"
The two backed off to reposition. Just then, The boy received a call from the same device the two policeman were using.
B̶oy: "Yes. Yes. They're both present. Yes, sir"
Boy: "looks like I'm getting called back to base. Too bad we can't continue are fight. They'll be having someone a little more skilled to go after you two. Our Intel was wrong about you only wielding the light element, you hid your lighting element well"
Right then, a hooded figure appeared before us. He had what seemed like a robotic face with some sort of armour around his arms and legs. He was tall and had an intimidating presence. The boy left and headed back with the two policemen.
Kira: "Hey Tsuruki, what element do you wield?"
Me: "I believe I wield fire, but I'm not sure how to wield it exactly."
Kira: "Wha-.. fire?! Damn!"
Me: "Huh?! Does fire suck?"
Kira: "No that's not it. I made a bet with someone about which element you had. I bet that you would have lightning like me, they bet fire. Now I owe a whole fifty thousand yen!"
Me: "F-fifty thousand?!"
Hooded figure: "Tsuruki Kishiko, you will be detained along with Kira Kishiko and brought to Hojichi industries for testing"
Wait... Kishiko? So she must be a close relative. A sister?! I thought I was an only child. Is this what my parents were hiding when I mentioned family? Whatever, I'll have to ask her later. Also it looks like I was right not to cooperate with them. I've never heard of Hojinchi industries, which only makes it more suspicious.
Kira: "This isn't looking good"
Me: "Are they strong?"
Kira: "By the design of his hood. It shows that they're part of a super elite group of elementals that specialize in combat, intelligence, and defence. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to hold him off"
Shit. There's gotta be something I can do. My levels too low to fight, my heads full of unanswered questions so thinking up a strategy is a little difficult, and combat-wise I have no experience.
The hooded figure dashed towards Kira and hit her in the stomach. She couldn't react in time and went flying back into a tree.
Me: "Kira! S-So fast..."
Without Kira I'm done for, but I can't just leave her here and run off. There has to be something I can do. Come on, think!
Hooded figure: "There's nothing you can do, your level is low and you have no combat experience. Do you even know how to trigger your ability?"
It looks like Kira is still conscious. If I can get close, I might be able to burn his face and buy her some time to analyze and attack. It's risky, because I'm not sure how to use fire energy, but I'll just have to manage somehow.
Me: "I'll cooperate"
Hooded figure: "Good. Face flat on the ground and keep your hands behind your back"
I did what he asked and waited for him to get close. He started walking towards me, he's about 5 feet away. Three seconds, I'll attack in three seconds. I began counting down in my head, and all the sudden I started to feel weird. Everything around me started spinning, the outside noises were echoing, and I started to lose vision.
Tsuruki: "What's..happening?"
I start to lose focus.
Tsuruki: "Am I.... being carried?"
Kira: "Tsuruk-!" "Tsuru-!" "Tsu-!"
Her voice faded off as I began to fall unconscious. I became unable to do anything.
Narrator: As Tsuruki falls unconscious, the rest of Kira's comrades come to support the rescue of Tsuruki. Unfortunately they failed, and the hooded figure was able to escape. Kira and her allies fail to catch up, and are forced to return back to base. What will happen to Tsuruki? Will Kira and her comrads get Tsuruki back? What does the future have planned?
Later that night...
Tsuruki: "Huh? Where am I? Where's Kira?"
Hooded figure: "Unfortunately I wasn't able to ..., but I did get ahold of him. Fortunately he ... any elements, he's at quite a low level for being a ... So he must have just been chosen"
That's right, I was captured! I can only make out parts of what he's saying, but it looks like he was only able to capture me for some reason.
Tsuruki: "Hey! Where am I?! What do you plan on doing?!"
Hooded figure: "Tsuruki Kishiko... son of Yuki and Gouji Kishiko who we had to kill for various reasons. Unfortunately your sister Kira Kishiko was aided by her comrads, so I wasn't able to capture her. You are now property owned by Hojichi industries and will be put through many tests regarding elementals and their elements they wield. I hope you..."
Huh? My parents are... dead? Th- this has to be a dream right? The second I became an elemental to now.... all has to be a dream..... right?
Hooded figure: "After testing, you will be placed into one of two groups based on if you failed, or passed. Any sort of rebellious action will result in severe punishment. Therefore the actions you took earlier must be punished."
It's not a dream is it..... After he punishes me, I'll know for sure by the pain.
The hooded figure walked towards Tsuruki with a knife, and cut his own hand. All the blood that was dripping started to form together into a blade, and eventually a completed sword. "So he wields the blood element" Tsuruki thought to himself. The hooded figure stopped for second, and then stabbed Tsuruki in the stomach.
Tsuruki: "Wha- Shit!"
It hurts! It's definitely not a dream. What kind of punishment is this?! Is he just going to kill me?
Hooded figure: *pulls blade out* "As you can see, we don't mess around here. Tests will start tomorrow. We will have to get that wound wrapped up. Bring the doctors"
Guard: "Yes, sir!"
What kind of fucked up place is this? The room I'm in is small with white walls. Kind of like an interrogation room. The lights are a bright white color likes the ones in hospitals. Was I in a hospital? Well I sure hope I am. They have me held against the wall with some sort of equipment....
Why am I analyzing? People don't see me as human anymore, my parents are dead, and I'm stuck in this hellhole. There's no hope, nothing to live for. The morning sun, the dust filled air on the bus, the packed lunches I always have. It's all gone. Whatever..... I give up. I've lost everything. Sorry Mom, Dad. I'm a little tired right now. I just.... want to fall asleep.... forever....
Hooded figure: "Those drugs should keep him stable long enough to fix him up. Take him to his unit, he'll need the rest."
Doctor and guard: "Yes, sir"
Tsuruki Kishiko. A boy whose life was turned upside down because of a label. A boy who has given up on everything. A boy who has lost everything. Despite all this, he is still a boy with hidden potential, and thats what truly made his life infinitely tougher. Hojichi industries higher-ups saw that potential, and took hold of it. This is a story about a boy who has potential the size of the universe. Will he gain control of that potential? Or will someone else control it? Only the distant future knows...
