Chapter 31 - Chapter Thirty.

When the man pulled the glass door and stepped in the cafe, he discreetly looked around, trying to find his brother and the infamous date, huddled close. The cafe was stylish and modern. with huge grass windows and brown leather chairs rounding dark oak tree tables. The establishment as a whole was not that large, so his search was not long.

Daechul noticed his brother and Geun seated all the way to the back, drinking coffee from stylish white mugs and grinning at each other. Junghyun sported rosy cheeks, eyes never straining from his date. Daechul couldn't see Geun that clearly as he sat with his back to the entrance, but the man looked to be tall, with muscular arms and blonde, long hair, that pooled around his broad shoulders.

The man decided that it was enough to stand at the center of the place, when one of the workers did not stop staring at him, as if urging to finally find a table and sit down. His trip to the targeted table was a short brisk walk, that gained the attention from Junghyun, currently babbling about some happy story which included his twin siblings. Geun appeared to be intently listening. However, despite the cozy atmosphere, Daechul still cleared his throat.

When Junghyun turned to look at him, he was frowning.

"Daechul? What are you doing here?"

As soon as the name left his brother's lips, the man caught Geun stiffening.

He sat in the spare chair, turning his attention to the man, rather than his annoyed brother.

"Hello, Geun. Do you know who I am?"

When the man opened his mouth to answer, Daechul decided to speak up again.

"And do not try to lie if you value your life."

At that, Geun gulped, while Jungyun flinched, looking visibly scandalised. He probably thought that his brother was being his usual overprotective self and nothing more.

"Daechul!"

Daechul turned to his brother.

"Junghyun, leave us alone. Someone will be waiting outside, tell them to drive you home."

As expected, Junghyun did no such thing, starting to loudly protest.

"What the hell are you on about? We were having a date! Go away before you embarrass me even more."

Daechul shook his head, still keeping an eye on an extremely uncomfortable his brother's date.

"Do as I say, please. This man is dangerous, and I will not leave you with him alone again", he demanded.

Junghyun looked confused, turning to voice his concerns to Geun.

"What is he talking about, Geun?"

But Geun kept his mouth shut, refusing to look at the siblings.

Daechul sighed. Such a coward.

He looked at his sad and clueless brother, taking his hand and softening his voice a notch. This situation must be hurting him for sure. He looked elated, before Daechul ruined everything. As much as it pained him, Daechul did what he was supposed to do. If Geun was working for Kim Chungee, he automatically became dangerous. Daechul would be damned if he let him and his brother continue with this meeting, fearing for his Junghyun's safety.

But as it turned out, Daechul focusing on his brother was a mistake. It took a split second for Geun to use the opportunity and run, making his chair  tople on the ground in the process.

He was out of the door before either of the brothers could open their  mouths or stop him.

Daechul loudly cussed, furious.

"That fuck", he turned to his speechless brother, urging him to get up after he put a few notes on the table. Junghyun went easily, still stunned.

As soon as they both left the building, Ilsung and Sunmi jogged towards the pair, obviously still on the lookout.

"That fucker ran away just a minute ago," Daechul muttered, still furious.

Sunmi nodded.

"Yeah, we saw him. Everyone else ran after him, trying to catch him. We stayed to wait for you."

Daechul nodded, starting to go for his car, still parked in the back. Ilsung still stayed, in case he saw Geun round the corner and run through the restaurant again.

Sunmi accompanied the siblings, gnawing on her plush bottom lip when she saw how devastated Junghyun had looked.

"I can drive him home. You go search for Geun," the girl offered as soon as they neared the cars.

Daechul nodded, grateful.

"Alright, thank you, Sunmi. Let me know when he's home."

She hummed, smiling. gently taking Junghyun's hand and leading him towards her car. When the pair was gone, Daechul jogged back to Ilsung.

The man was still as a stick, sharp eyes scanning their surroundings.

"Seen anything?", he asked, to which Ilsung shook his head in denial.

"No. I think someone has caught him by now, Kimoon and Jongil seemed way faster than Geun when they went after him."

Daechul nodded, chuckling. Kimoon was always the faster one, winning their childhood races effortlessly.

No longer than five minutes later,  Eunsang and Jongil appeared shoving at the criminal to keep him moving. Everyone else was trailing after them. When the man in question saw Daechul, he tried to break free, seemingly feeling intimidated, but both his men kept the man from disappearing again.

When they were a reasonable distance away, Daechul motioned everyone to immediately head towards the parking lot to minimize people, staring at them weirdly, count. He was only hoping that none of Chungee's men or police officers saw two of his men dragging another one towards the awaiting gang leader.

He and Ilsung climbed into Daechul's car, starting the engine and waiting for someone to dispose of Geun in the back. Daechul wanted to be the one and drive him to the gang building for a very nasty interrogation.

A few seconds later Jongil all but pushed the man into the back seat and slammed the door shut, climbing into the other awaiting car and shutting the door after himself.

Daechul was silent when he put the vehicle to drive, peeling out of the parking lot and into a busy street. He was silent as the busy streets became more deserted ones. Because of the location of the cafe, reaching the secluded grey building of the Hyun mafia took twice as much time, and by the end of the drive, Daechul was getting more and more annoyed. All through it Geun was unrelentlessly begging Daechul to have mercy, mumbling something about being innocent in all of this. The man did not bother to listen, concentrating on the road to keep his posture. Although the itch to pull over to the side of the road and give geun a piece of his mind was temping a bit too much.

In the end, Daechul and all of his men arrived without much adventure, parking their cars in the empty spaces.

Daechul killed the engine and turned to Shivering Geun.

"I hope you are ready to talk to you shithole," spit out and hopped out of the car with Ilsung following suit.

He rounded the vehicle, threw open the door and pulled the huddled men out in the open. Geun stumbled, falling on the hard concrete, wincing at the minor pain.

Daechul rolled his eyes and dragged the boy in the standing position, urging him to walk by lightly pushing forward.

From then on Geun stopped resisting,  going willingly. He probably figured that the punishment would be way worse lest he disobeyed once more.

All seven men reached the infamous interrogation basement in just a minute or two, the gang building itself not a massive space.

Daechul unceremoniously kicked the man in the stomach as soon as everyone was inside. Geun went flying, groaning at the pain in low cries.

The gang leader loudly exhaled from his nose, obviously impatient and irritated by Geun's pathetic behaviour.

"Stop wailing, you motherfucker. Get up", ordered.

Geun did as was told, albeit a bit slow.

"Now talk. What is your connection with Kim Chungee?"

Geun sat down in one of the metal chairs, rubbing his hurting stomach.

"Speak before I do worse for leading my brother on!", Daechul all but shouted, the sound echoing in the concrete walls. Somewhere, a phone pinged with a new message. Daechul figured it was Sunmi.

Geun flinched, but opened his mouth to protest.

"I did not lead Junghyun on, I swear! I genuinely like him. And until today, I had no idea that he was your brother, please believe me, Daechul," Geun pleaded.

All five men exchanged confused looks, clearly not expected Geun to be so verbal about his date.

Daechul, in turn scoffed, not an ounce of sympathy in his dark eyes.

"Don't spew such bulshit about my bother, or I will kick your ribs again. I know Chungee ordered you to spy me through Junghyun you sick fuck."

Once again, Geun was frantically shaking his blonde head, still clutching his stomach.

"If you are innocent, then why did you run away as soon as you saw me, hm Geun?", asked Daechul slowly circling the hunched figure as his predator prepared to pounce on his prey.

Geun turned at Daechul and sighed, as if composing himself.

"Daechul… Kim Chungee is my brother."
