Trahi stood outside her workplace and took out her cell phone to call one of her friends to pick her up.
"Hey, this is Rosalin. Please leave a message after this beep."
She sighed.
She turned off her phone and took a taxi home.
My boyfriend, Dave must be home. She thought.
Just remembering him made her smile. He was the only person that she needed right now. Whenever she was in a bad mood or something happened to her, she would find her solace in the arms of Dave.
Dave and Trahi were college sweethearts. After graduating, she found a job and bought a house. But Dave was unlucky. Due to his poor results, he never got any job and even if he got any, he would be fired from that job within a month or so. But that didn't make them break their relationship.
After Dave's parents kicked him out of their house, it was Trahi who gave him a shelter, a home.
She had always believed in Dave and knew that he will one day surely get a job. It was just that he was being unlucky till now.
Trahi blamed his company members for not recognizing his talent and firing him.
Because of Dave, there was a strain in her relationship with her parents. They wanted Trahi to stop wasting her time on this useless piece of sh8t and find a perfect man for herself. But Trahi was too stubborn to listen to them.
.....,.
The taxi dropped her in front of her apartment and she opened the door and shut it quietly. She was going to surprise him.
"Maybe I should surprise him first but I need to use the washroom first." Trahi thought to herself.
Walking upstairs quietly, she was about to open the bathroom door when she heard a noise coming from the bedroom. Trahi's beautiful arched eyebrows furrowed and she turned around and headed towards the bedroom.
"I love you so much." A familiar voice rang in her ears.
"I love you too but you have a girlfriend," A female voice said back.
Trahi's hand froze on the doorknob.
"Who are you talking about? Trahi? She is no one to me. Besides, she doesn't even let me touch her as you do."
Fresh tears formed in Trahi's eyes.
Dave? He is with another woman?
Trahi turned around ready to walk away from this humiliation. She was okay to turn a blind eye to this situation.
"Everybody makes mistakes. Yes, there is nothing to overreact to. Everybody makes mistake at their lowest point. Dave loves me and I can give him space. He will soon realize his mistake and come back to me." Trahi murmured to herself. She started consoling herself and was about to leave the place when Dave's voice rang once again.
"I want to marry you Rosalin."
'Rosalin? My friend Rosalin?
I can't believe this!
'Why would they do this to me?'
Turning around in full anger, she stormed into the bedroom.
"So this is what you are doing when I am away?" Trahi shouted in full anger.
"Trahi?" Rosalin said in shock and jumped off of Dave's lap.
"Why are you home so early?" Dave asked while buttoning his shirt.
His question made Trahi dumbfounded.
"Really. Is this what you have to ask me first?" This was the first time Trahi doubted his intelligence.
Trahi looked at him and took deep breaths to control herself.
'Oh god. Please don't make me kill anyone today.'
She walked towards him and slapped him across his face. A loud slapping sound echoed across the room.
"HOW. DARE. YOU?" I shouted.
He winced and rubbed his now red cheek but said nothing.
"So you are going to play dumb now? All this time I helped you out. I gave you a place to stay after your mom kicked you out of her house. I gave you food, clothes, and a damn bed to sleep on and that is what you are gonna do to me? Is this how you repay me? By cheating?!"
Trahi asked him. Tears were beginning to form in her eyes but she stubbornly held them back. She will not cry in front of them and make herself look weak.
"I am..... I am sorry but I don't love you anymore Trahi." He replied while staring at the floor.
And that made her heartache.
"Okay. I get it." She said with sarcasm and folded her arms in front of her chest.
'I am so done with him.'
She could feel tears wanting to escape from her eyes.
Trahi then turned to Rosalin.
"And what is your excuse? Huh? You know he is my boyfriend but you still slept with him? And for God's sake Rosy, you are my friend."
Dave pulled Rosalin towards him and shielded her. "If you wanted to blame anyone, it is me. I love her and I forced her to be with me. This has nothing to do with her. You can blame me however you want and you can hit me too, but don't blame her. She still considers you as her friend." Dave said protecting Rosalin behind his back and looking Trahi in her eyes.
His every action and every word felt like a knife stabbing through her heart.
Rosalin who was now behind Dave trembled like a leaf and said, "I am sorry, I really am sorry but-"
"Tell me what the hell can your sorry do? Is it gonna fix this? She cut her off. She knew a new emotional speech was going to be thrown in her direction but she didn't have a stomach to digest it.
"And that's no excuse." She said.
They both stared at the floor and said nothing.
"And if you were a good friend, you would have never slept with my now ex-boyfriend." Trahi shot back.
"But I did. This shows that I am not your friend. So, let's just forget about this and go on with life, okay?" She said and Trahi's blood boiled in anger.
But instead of getting angry at them, Trahi clutched her stomach and gave a hearty laugh, making both of them dumbfounded.
"You want me to forget just like that?" She asked the question with a chuckle, making both of them nod their heads.
"Then I hope you never forget this beating I am going to give you." She said and walked up to her.
Trahi slapped her across her face so hard that her lips burst open and a drop of blood escaped from the corner of her lips.
