Sung Tae was writing an essay for the next day when he saw Sunwo and Yoon Shik entered the room, smiling while talking with each other. Sung Tae put the brush down and then looked at them from the far end of the room.
"How will you work tomorrow with this wounded hand? Try talking with head chief," suggested Sunwo to Yoon Shik. Sung Tae got up from the mattress and came towards them. "Who is wounded?" Sung Tae asked.
"Yoon Shik," replied Sunwo. "Are you worried for him?" he asked.
"Why would I be worried?" Sung Tae stated annoyingly and glanced at Yoon Shik's left hand. "Your hands will die tomorrow after washing that many clothes," he then said and looked at Yoon Shik.
"Sung Tae," Sunwo called his name and then put his arm around his shoulder. "Should we help Yoon Shik?" Sunwo questioned him.
"Why would I wash clothes?" Sung Tae muttered and put away Sunwo's arm from his shoulder.
"Don't be annoyed. Look, Yoon Shik hand is injured badly. He is our friend. We should help him," Sunwo opined. Lee Eunshi entered the room just then and overheard their conversation. Sung Tae snickered, "Sunwo, you are out of your mind, right? We do not do such jobs."
"What are you saying? In Sungkyunkwan we have to wash our clothes on the laundry days. Forgot?!" Sunwo reminded him.
"What?? One has to wash one's clothes?" exclaimed Lee Eunshi with a displeased look. "I have never once washed clothes in my life. Let alone wash, I did not even pick them up from my place," Lee Eunshi complained.
"So, did I. It is good Yoon Shik is going to wash the clothes tomorrow," Sung Tae then said and smiled. Lee Eunshi looked at the injured hand of Yoon Shik. "Your wound will get worse if you will wash clothes. Talk with head Chief again to revise your punishment. Well, now you have understood that throwing fists is not the answer in the worst situations," asserted Lee Eunshi.
Yoon Shik nodded. "Do not worry about me. I have washed clothes many times so it will not be a problem. Thank you Sunwo for trying helping me but I am okay with it. Lee Eunshi thanks for the advise," stated Yoon Shik and gave a tiny smile to them.
They looked at him when Yeong came there in anger. "Why are you carrying an angry face?" Sung Tae questioned him. The others turned to look at him. "Nothing," replied Yeong and sat down on his bed.
"What did your father say this time?" Sunwo queried him.
"He is not agreeing with me. I do not want to marry that girl and I do not know how to make my father understand that," stated Do Yeong.
"Why so? Do you have someone?" Lee Eunshi asked him. Sung Tae and Sunwo laughed upon hearing Lee Eunshi's question. "What do you mean? You want to say if I have someone then she will not marry me?" Do Yeong questioned him.
"Hmm. Why would a princess will marry you when you have someone in your heart?" stated Lee Eunshi.
"Lee Eunshi, I have no one. Even if I had someone then father would never let me marry her. He wants me to marry his majesty's daughter for political reasons," Do Yeong stated.
"Yeong- ah, I mean you can tell the Princess that you have someone. She will back off from this marriage itself," Lee Eunshi suggested.
"Ayee, as of princess will not tell anyone about this. Moreover, Yeong has no one," Sung Tae muttered. "Yeong, should I talk with my father? They both are good friends. If father will say to your father not to make you marry this early then for sometime it can be stopped," Sung Tae pronounced.
"Sung Tae, this is about marriage. The king has agreed on this and the Princess is also willing to marry me," stated Do Yeong. He took of the gat from his head and out it aside.
"Have you actually talked with the Princess?" Lee Eunshi asked. "Talk with the Princess. I think she might change her thoughts over this marriage," Lee Eunshi pronounced in a serious tone.
"What should tell her? It isn't like she will agree when I will tell her that I do not like her and I do not want to marry this early," muttered Yeong.
"Can you not lie? Just tell her that you have someone you want to marry. She will refuse for this marriage," Lee Eunshi suggested. Sunwo intervened between them. "Lee, it seems you know many things about the Princess. It is making me curious about your identity," asserted Sunwo. Lee Eunshi snickered and then went to his bed without saying anything.
"Yeong- ah, you should lie to her. A lie is not lie when it is used for saving someone's life- a brilliant man said this. Just talk out with the Princess and then tell her you have someone. Lee Eunshi is saying absolutely right," Yoon Shik finally spoke. Sunwo and Sung Tae too agreed with him.
"Yeong, do not ruin two lives. Do something rather than sitting and thinking about that," Lee Eunshi pronounced. "I cannot let my sister's life get ruined just because of this political relationship. I know the evil mind of Minister Jangeum. He wants to be on good side with father and strengthen his position in the court," thought Eunshi.
"I think I will do this then," Yeong said with a smile.
"Let's sleep then," Sunwo said and went to his bed.
"I have to write an essay so I will sleep late," Yoon Shik said and walked out from there. On the other hand, the remaining went to the bed.
Yoon Shik was in the library, reading again and again the sentence that was given by the governance instructor. "What do one learn from the flowing water?- Answer must be with respect to Confucian teachings."
"There are many things one can learn from the flowing water," murmured Yoon. "But according to the Confucian teachings it depicts only one thing that one should go along with the nature. If one try to take a different route either something good will happen or bad will happen but if the water changes its route mostly destruction occur. So, according to this no one should try changing that path because you will suffer only. The rules and laws which are decided by the nation one must abide by them else he/she will be punished," Yoon Shik told himself.
He picked the brush, dipped it in the ink and started writing that in the paper. Once he was done writing, something more hit his mind and he jotted down those things too into that white sheet.
"Change is important for the nature so, I think going with flowing water is not good every time," mumbled Yoon Shik, looking at the sheets on which he had finally written the essay. He wrapped up his work and then left the library.
As he walked past from the corridors, he heard the sounds of arrows gushing through the air. He turned his head towards the ground and saw a figure was practicing shooting. "How could someone see the targets in that darkness?" Yoon Shik muttered. He stepped down the stairs and walked towards the ground. As he reached there, he found Cheung Shin was hitting those targets.
Cheung Shin turned to take an arrow when his eyes fell on Yoon Shik who was staring at him but he ignored him and continued his practice. After a while, Cheung Shin could not stay quiet and he turned to Yoon Shik. "Do you want something?" he asked.
Yoon Shik lowered his eyes and refused. "Then go. Do not stare at me," he said in a commanding tone.
"Master, I want to ask something from you," Yoon Shik said politely.
"Ask," Cheung Shin permitted him.
"Master Shin, how could you see the targets in this darkness?" Yoon Shik asked.
"This is why I am training to hit the aim even in the night. Training and hard work can beat anything in this world," he declared. "Want to practice?" Cheung Shin asked him. Immediately Yoon Shik agreed and went to the platform.
Cheung Shin went down the platform and told one servant there to light up the torches there. The servant nodded and started lighting up those torches. Cheung Shin came back to the platform and handed Yoon Shik a bow and arrow set.
He then picked up the other set and told Yoon Shik to do same as him. Yoon Shik copied Cheung Shin's steps but the arrows were unable to reach the aim. Cheung Shin then stand behind his back. He adjusted Yoon Shik's face right towards the target. "Aim at the center only. Concentrate at the point only," he stated. He then grabbed his hand from which Yoon Shik's was holding the arrow. "You are gripping the arrow wrongly," he whispered.
Yoon Shik was keeping everything Cheung Shin was teaching him. "We are going to release the arrow from this bow soon. The air factor is also important in shooting," asserted Cheung Shin and pulled the string a little longer with Yoon Shik. "Now, release," commanded Cheung Shin. Yoon Shik did so and this time it hit the target. He could not believe his eyes and smiled broadly.
Cheung Shin stepped back, with his hand behind his back. "So, have you noticed that there were many things wrong," stated Cheung Shin.
"Yes, master," replied Yoon Shik and took another arrow as he wanted to see if he could hit the target without master's help. He pulled the string, focused his eyes on the target which was glowing in the flambeaus and then released the arrow. The arrow did not hit the target but he felt good because earlier the arrows shot by him were not able to hit the target. "I learned it," he murmured while smiling.
"This guy has something different in him. He hit the wooden board as soon as I taught him. He grasps things really quick. I want to see if he will be able to reach the position of a bureaucrat or not," thought Cheung Shin.
On the other hand, Yoon Shik kept shooting the arrows towards the target despite his left hand was again started bleeding.
