Chapter 6 - Dying Pathetic

To a well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure

-J.K Rowling

Three weeks, four days and eight hours.

That's how long it's been since Rowan had been diagnosed with brain tumor. He had a total of two seizures, an increase in headaches, unexplainable nausea and a bipolar attitude. He also had difficulties in speech, hearing and balancing.

It had been hard for him. The whole town knew about his first seizure and that he had a tumor.

Rowan was walking along the streets of the small yet well developed settlement. He was doing just fine, nobody bothered him, they just stared and gossiped. Maybe they felt 'sympathy' towards the young man. But then again, what did they know about sympathy? They just needed gossip to entertain their bullsh*t lives.

He felt a presence beside him but didn't turn to look at who it was, he didn't want to deal with anyone's sh*t at the moment, he was stressed enough to last him a lifetime.

"So you won't talk to me huh?" The voice was of a female, but was a little deeper than a normal girl's voice.

She was around the age group of 15. Dark brown hair that reached her shoulder, resting on the black leather jacket she was wearing. A white shirt underneath, black jeans and worn out sneakers, probably worn to death by her. She had thick black eyebrows; they were uneven because of the scar on her left eyebrow. Her light brown eyes matched perfectly with her fair complexion. She was a beautiful girl, and no one could deny it.

"Hey Lyle." Rowan greeted.

"OK! So I am not going to say I feel sorry for you because my situation isn't so pleasant either." Lyle was epileptic and dyslexic, but she never let it own her, she owned it.

Rowan smiled at the fact that Lyle was one of the three people who won't treat her as a patient. She was always like that, her optimistic character reflected in her appearance. She was always all smiles, but the day someone saw her frown, you would now something was wrong.

"I am just here to let you know how amazing Agust D is! I mean have you listened to his songs? Jimin is wonderful too; his Promise makes me feel so many things. Kim Namjoon is so hot! Oh my God! How can a person fit so much talent into such a small body? And do not get me started on Jackson Wang! Team Wang all the way; his single Papillon gives me papillons!" As you can probably tell, Lyle was obsessed with Kpop.

She goes further into her rant talking about the ship of Jenkai and how cute V and J-hope were. Maybe also about how Jin was worldwide handsome and that she wanted to date her bias Jungkook.

Rowan just listened to her rants. He smiled and even let out a light chuckle at some points, this was their 'thing'. She would prattle about everything and he would just listen. One thing Lyle loved about Rowan was his amazing ability not to judge people. She knew everything about him, and he about her.

"So, how is Olivia?" Lyle asked.

"She is good." He curtly replied.

"I'm sorry are you in a bad mood? I should've asked beforehand though it was kind of ru-" Rowan was quick to realize that Lyle was going to rant again and stopped her by saying he was fine.

About ten minutes of walking and nonstop ranting about how cute Suga was, they got interrupted by guess who?

Xavier Hans Malone. The one and only!

Lyle seemed to notice the tension between the two 'gentlemen' and scurried of in the other direction after an awkward moment.

"Mr. Carvier, what a pleasant surprise! Certainly exciting to see you again!" Xavier said with fake enthusiasm and heavy sarcasm.

He had a cynical soul. He knew, his friends knew and everyone in town knew. However, his pessimistic attitude affected no one, because no one cared. They simply saw him as a rich man who was still dwelling over the fact that he lost his ability to walk in his prime time and needed someone to wipe his arse for him. It was bullshit, obviously.

"Certainly." He was brusque in his reply. Not skipping a beat, Xavier shot back.

"Well, I just want to welcome you to the circle of Freaks."

"I don't want to join."

Xavier tsked, "Shame, your girlfriend is a part of the circle though. I thought you would like to join, anyways, we don't want a player like you amongst us innocent freaks." He smirked, a very malicious smirk at that.

"Olivia's not a freak." He stated, pinching the bridge of his nose; looking down and wondering how he encountered such an evil man.

"Oh, I'm sorry let me be more polite; the circle of unique freaks." He faked a smile, his words dripping with honey.

"You know what, you are hopeless, fu-" Rowan was cut off as he was about to let out a string of colorful words.

"And you're pathetic, what exactly is your point? You are going to end up dying."

"At least I won't die a lonely and wretched freak!" That was low. Very, extremely low, but Rowan couldn't hold back anymore. He finally erupted.

"At least I won't die with a pathetic and sorry arse!" Rowan deserved that blow because he too went extremely low.

"I am wasting my time talking to a dumbass like you, goodbye sir." Rowan gritted out, sick of the man's attitude.

Rowan had assumed that Xavier only had one brain cell, and that cell was overused due to his witty remarks and sharp tongue. He was wrong, obviously. Before the accident, Xavier wasn't a spoiled brat who took everything for granted. He was very smart. His goal was to become a scientist, he wanted to learn more about wild life and undiscovered species that roam the earth. His dream was effortlessly thrown to the back of his mind after the accident.

Rowan walked away from Xavier but paused due to his name being called out.

"Mr. Carvier, mark my words, I will win." With those words, Xavier turned his wheel chair and rode off feeling like a true champion and proud he got the last word, on the other hand, Rowan was agitated.
