"Where are they?!" Magnus yelled.
"I-I," The butler stuttered out.
"Where are they?!" He seethed as he grabbed his sword pointing it at the butler's neck, "Where are my child and my wife?!" He yelled.
Everyone had come outside to see the commotion. Both his wife and his son were missing. His entire body felt cold. He couldn't think properly.
"They couldn't have gotten very far," Magnus said, his voice controlled, his expression stoic as he slit the butler's throat, stabbing his blade through his corpse to finish the job, "Search the premises for them. Now."
They found them at the crack of dawn. Ophelia had run away with Asterias. When Magnus found her in the woods, her body covered in grime and her expression filled with tears, he hugged her. "What, my love, what happened?" He asked as he held her cheeks.
"I-I don't know!" She sobbed into his chest, "I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. . ."
