Jenoix's scarlet eyes glittered, "I want you to remember you owe me a favor."
"I would rather owe you gold," she shot back.
"It's harmless," Jenoix said waving off her concern. She had no right to agree. Jenoix was important to her plan. He was the most powerful man in the Church. She didn't need him to be an enemy and due to his nefarious nature, he was easy to hone in. A leash could be put around his neck if she simply ignored his barbaric actions.
The mutilated bodies of women leaving the temple at night were hard to ignore, but Lumielle would do so for her own sake. Selfish people survived while the selfless were slaughtered. She needed to look out for herself. She had enough trouble doing that.
"Nothing about you is harmless," Lumielle answered back.
His wicked grin returned, "You seem to know me so well."
"I know you, but I'm not anything like you," Lumielle clarified before standing up. The chair dragging against the ground.
