Patting her down, Lumielle's eyes hardened as she turned back to Cosette. Viria was grinning widely at her. It all made sense now. The maid that was stationed by Cosette was Viria.
She should have killed her sooner.
Lumielle should have let Jax murder her as soon as she had left. Why hadn't she done that? Viria had vanished. Jax told her that the woman had simply vanished; she was gone. Thus, Lumielle had figured she was living a calm life under the radar. Dripping with tea, she tried to control her expression. Her face was stony. An emotionless look. Jax would be hearing from her.
"You aren't mad are you?" Cosette asked, her brows furrowing together. "It was my maid's mistake. I hope you aren't upset."
She had been soaked and yet, she had received no apology. Then again, she didn't want to hear anything but pleas of desperation from Cosette.
