Chapter 1 - 001 ※ Beware the Eternal Spotlight: Immortality Comes with Strings Attached

I am an Immortal.

What are we, you ask?

We are a divine race, extraordinary and apart from all else. We are beings of unmatched essence, created and nurtured by the Evermore, who are not only our parents but the architects of existence itself. To call us extraordinary would be an understatement, for we are imbued with the very fabric of eternity, our existence intertwined with the divine threads of destiny. We are the children of the Evermore, a lineage so rare and sacred that our presence alone is considered a gift to the cosmos.

The Evermore are more than gods; they are the gods. They are the architects of the universe, the overseers of all that exists. From the furthest reaches of the galaxy to the smallest speck of dust, nothing escapes their watchful gaze. They stand above all things, far beyond the limits of mortal comprehension, reigning in a realm untouched by chaos, where harmony flows as naturally as rivers to the sea. It is their duty to preserve the balance, to ensure the delicate threads of the cosmos are not unraveled by the forces of disorder. Without them, existence itself would spiral into ruin.

Where do they live, you wonder? Their home is a place unlike any other, a domain that lies above and beyond everything we know. It is a realm that mortals cannot comprehend, let alone reach—a sanctuary of perfection, untouched by time or decay. No mortal words can describe it; no vision can capture its grandeur. It is simply... beyond.

And when did they begin? That is a question even we, their children, cannot answer. There are no records, no writings, no whispers of their beginning. If I were to guess, I would say they have been here forever. Their existence is infinite, just as the stars have no count. They did not come into being—they simply are. Eternal. Unchanging. Constant.

The only truth we know is that even the Evermore themselves are not the first. They are the children of something greater, something unfathomable: the Supreme Being. This being, the patriarch of all existence, is the one who shaped the galaxies with his hands, who breathed life into the stars, and who gave each celestial body its name. He is the origin of everything, the core of all that is.

There are stories—legends, really—that tell us why the Supreme Being created the Evermore. It is said that he was alone, gazing out at the infinite void of his creation, and he longed for companionship. He desired others to share in the wonders of existence, to stand beside him as he watched over the endless expanse of the universe. And so, from his loneliness, he brought forth the Evermore, granting them his wisdom and his power so that they might guide the cosmos in his stead.

Where is he now? That is a mystery none of us can solve. We believe he is watching us still, from a place so beautiful and serene that it cannot be imagined. Perhaps he resides in a corner of the universe that no one has ever seen, a hidden realm where he observes all that unfolds. Though he remains unseen, his presence is undeniable. To call him my grandfather would not be wrong, for he is the father of the Evermore, and they, in turn, are our parents.

But we, the Immortals, are few. Our race is not like others, where generations flourish and grow in abundance. We are a rare and precious lineage, scattered across existence. The reason for this is simple: it is not easy for the Evermore to have children. Their divine nature makes the act of creation a challenge even for them. And because of this, it is equally difficult for us, their children, to bring new life into existence. Immortal offspring are a rarity, celebrated and revered because of their scarcity.

It was this challenge, the dwindling numbers of our kind, that led Brayanlynn, the leader of the Evermore and my father, to seek a solution. Fifteen millennia ago, he devised a plan—not one born of ease, but of necessity. It was a test, a journey, a way to secure our future and preserve our legacy.

The solution? A trial. A journey. Each Immortal, upon reaching the age of 20 by our timeless standards, undergoes intense preparation. This training is not for the faint of heart. It is rigorous, unrelenting, and designed to prepare us for the unknown. Every lesson, every challenge, every moment is crafted to ensure we are ready for what comes next.

And what comes next is no small feat. Once our training is complete, we are sent away—cast out into a reality that corresponds to our unique destiny book. This is not a choice; it is our duty, our purpose. We are sent alone, without guides, without companions, without aid. There is no safety net, no one to catch us if we fall. The only thing we carry with us is the knowledge we have gained during our training—the knowledge of the reality we are entering and the story outlined in our destiny book.

Our mission is clear: to correct the story of that reality. To shape it, to fix it, to steer it in the direction we believe is right. But this is not just about rewriting a story. There is a deeper purpose, a greater reward awaiting us if we succeed.

Each Immortal is destined to find their soul partner within this new reality. This soul partner is not just a companion; they are our ultimate goal, the missing piece of our existence. We do not know who they are. We do not know where they are. There are no signs, no maps to guide us to them. All we know is that if we fulfill our mission, if we correct the story as it is meant to be corrected, this person will appear.

And when they do, our journey is complete. We will bring them back with us to the realm of the Evermore, where they will stand before our divine parents. There, they will undergo a sacred ritual, a ritual known only to Brayanlynn. This ritual will transform them, granting them the gift of immortality. They will become one of us, an Immortal, and together we will stand as equals, bound by fate and destiny.

This is who we are. This is our purpose. This is the weight and the glory of being an Immortal.
