Chereads / The Devil Is Back / Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

As Jared left Kenneth's office, one never would've got a lot of scenarios thrown inside their head.

"Could James know about Nathan?" A question that has been rattling around Kenneth's head. Not sure what to do Kenneth called Nero to meet him at his first warehouse where he keeps most of their gun supply.

But of course Kenneth can't risk James following him so whenever they have to meet up at one of Kenneth's warehouses they meet at his second one, which has a lot of boxes, but nothing in them.

"Meet at the first warehouse down at Farmstead Street." Kenneth texted, grabbed his coat and made his way to the parking lot.

He arrived at the warehouse and hoped that no one followed him. But then again at the back of his mind he knew James would've followed him. The warehouse had the same lighting as the other one last night.

"Has James checked the firearms?" Kenneth said calmly, as he placed his bag on top of one of the boxes. "He did and there were no missing firearms." Kenneth just thought for a bit like he was expecting something, then-

CRASH! The front entrance smashed down by the SWAT team.

"Kenneth Presley, you're under arrest for possession of illegal firearms." James said from outside the warehouse with a megaphone, as Kenneth expected James would follow him.

"Do you have any proof of me having this alleged illegal firearm?" Kenneth asked the police officers politely. "So be it! Search the place! I bet you'll find loads of firearms!" James shouted on the megaphone from outside.

The police started searching the place and James was left alone with just a few officers outside. James' met with Kenneth's eyes and Kenneth gave him a playful grin. Then he mouthed-

"We have searched every nook and cranny, and there are no signs of any firearms. Just a lot of empty boxes." The lieutenant that came in with the other officers shouted. James' eccentric victory grin fell into an angry defeated face and stared into Kenneth's eyes.

Kenneth gave him a playful wink then looked back at the lieutenant. "Now where did you get the idea that I would keep illegal firearms?" An awkward silence arose when the lieutenant looked up and looked at James.

"You know you get in real trouble for giving false reports. We're talking 6 months in county jail." Kenneth said with a bit of an amused tone. "We'll be out of the way Mr. Presley." The lieutenant said then signalled the SWAT team and the other officers to leave the warehouse.

"What about my door?!" Kenneth shouted playfully as the police officers left the property. James just stood there angrily outside the warehouse.

After just a few seconds Kenneth finally caught James' eye. "Go meet up with Leo and the others, I'll catch up."

As Nero left the warehouse James went up to Kenneth. "You led me to the wrong place." James said, trying to hold his anger. "I never told you to follow me in the first place."

"Where are they? Tell me now!" "Where's what? I have no idea what you're talking about." Kenneth said, trying to hold his laughter as he stared at James' pinky red face. "Don't you dare laugh!" James' said pointing at Kenneth's face. Kenneth couldn't help it and let out a little chuckle.

"You look like an idiot when you're angry." Kenneth chuckled again. "This isn't over Presley!" James said, trying to sound calm. "You'll never be rid of me." Kenneth replied as James left the warehouse.

Everyone left the warehouse except for Kenneth. He looked around the place, boxes everywhere, and some even have gun holes.

He then reached to his pockets to grab his phone but before he got his phone he heard shuffling noises. "Who's there?" Kenneth said almost at a whisper.

Kenneth grabbed his bag and walked slowly towards the shuffling noise. He stopped at his tracks when he heard the faint shuffling noise again.

"You got to do better than that. You suck at spying. Why would James pay a nuisance like you to spy on me, hmm?" It went silent. Then the supposed spy let out a sigh of defeat.

"Fine you caught me." The spy said as he was struggling to get up a bit. "How much did he pay you?"

"He paid me about 10,000 dollars yesterday, and 50,000 if I get info on you."

"He'd pay that amount of price on you to just fail?" Kenneth then laughed at the idiot that is James. "I'm not that of an idiot." The spy protested and showed his face.

"Oh, Karl Anderson, how convenient. I knew you were getting close to James." Kenneth said, sounding sarcastic. "I wasn't supposed to do that."

"Do you see that thing at the top of those boxes?" Kenneth said pointing at a security camera at the back of the warehouse. "Yes, your face has already been recorded the whole time." Karl looked up at the security camera Kenneth was pointing at and let out a defeated sigh.

"I'll pay you to be silent." Karl protested at Kenneth.

Kenneth thought for a bit, then took out his phone. "Wha- what are you doing?" Karl stammered.

In a swift motion, Karl quickly tried to take Kenneth's phone away, but Kenneth blocked him.

"You can take my phone now. I already filled the report." Kenneth said with a cheeky grin.

"You son of a-" Before Karl could finish his sentence, police sirens went off. "Might wanna start taking your hands up." Karl couldn't take it anymore so he grabbed Kenneth's phone from his hand and smashed it to the ground.

"I could've given you millions, and you threw it like it was garbage." Karl said really close to Kenneth's face. Then the police cuffed both of his hands. Karl stared at Kenneth angrily while Karl was being dragged out of the warehouse.

Kenneth knew Karl could still weasel his way out of court. Maybe he would be let out with just a warning.

Driving on the road to his house, Kenneth saw James from the corner of his eye. Which really much creeped him out. He was staring at the car's driver seat. "What could James' plan be?" A question just floating about in his car.

Arrived at his house, saw that the door was nugged open, and tried to put it back to normal. Kenneth knew someone was inside, he knew who it was too.

Slowly nearing his patio, he slowly opened his door. The lights were off. He went in, closed the door silently, then opened the lights.

Then SWOOSH. A knife came flying from the kitchen through the front door. Almost hitting Kenneth's neck.

"I've missed you Kenny."
