There is a time of peaceful silence when he is reading a book and I am looking off, lost in my thoughts. Rarely do we have these moments.
Fallon deliberately closes his book, drawing my attention to him. He adjusts where his feet are spread on in the same direction mine are in, bringing his torso to where my head is resting on my arm.
I tip my head up. "Hm?"
"I wanted to let you know that we are planning a counterattack."
"When?" I eagerly push to sit up right next to him, "What is the plan?"
Justice needs to be served soon. I will not have it any less. Now shoulder to shoulder, or rather, arm to shoulder, he runs a hand through his hair.
"The time is undetermined. We have to let the people regroup first. The morale is low."
I grip the sides of the lounge chair frustratingly. "I understand. But if we do not do anything, Clairemont will think it is a victory."
"What else can we do? If I sent warriors out now, it would be a suicide mission."
Bringing my knees to my chest, I rest my forehead on my arms. I need to not be antsy and have patience. If I rush, it is not only my life on the line, but many others who have families and dreams.
"I am sorry. I am not being considerate," I mutter.
He sighs. "It's okay. We are all in a tight spot currently. We all need time to grasp what truly happened. I met with soldiers earlier, and I gave them some time off. In a couple days, I will call up the war generals and commanders to talk about our next move."
I lift my head and nod sadly. There is nothing else we can do but wait. It is for the best.
Being true to his words, Fallon called up the generals. We met up in a large room building, south of the main castle near the weapons barracks. The building is the war general quarters and is luxuriously built.
I walk in, right on time at ten in the morning. Six out of the ten generals are here. There is a large rectangle-shaped oak table with matching chairs.
Four on each long side, and one on each the ends. Fallon is seated at the end of the table on the left side.
I settle in the empty chair, in the top corner next to Fallon. Daniel sits beside me, and Rae is seated across me. The rest of the generals arrive, and I observe the full table. There are three vampires present, all sitting in a clump at the end of the table.
There is a ginormous man, who is not even able to sit at the table, leans on the wall by the door. A lady with flowing sapphire hair catching my eye, the water nymph is seated next to Rae, and lastly a faun is sitting on the other side of Daniel.
After a couple minutes of chatter, the table gets quiet, turning their attention to Fallon.
Fallon uncrosses his arms, leaning his elbows on the table.
"You are all aware as why I have called you here today?"
Everyone slowly nods, and some pull out a notebook. A vampire noble named Josiah plays around his pencil.
"A counterattack is best in our cards. We need to make a move now."
The faun nods. "Agreed. However, we need to keep the numbers being sent out low. I do not think that we should having a large battle so early."
Fallon stretches out in his chair. "King Maximus of Clairemont would expect a small group from us. But I think it is our best bet. We need to scout to see what their battle formations and their disadvantages are. Whether it be in weapons or armor, we need to make sure their weakness will be our strengths."
The meeting is a quick one, one full of many open-ended questions. This counterattack could either go very well or very bad.
I have a bad feeling about the counterattack, and I was adamant that I would not let the soldiers of our army go out to be sitting ducks.
Through some harsh words, I was able to wiggle my way into the battle formation. I am going to aid our army in the back as well as two war generals, Rae and Josiah, who were appointed to lead. Now all we can do is wish for the best.
