Our first week at the Castle was filled because I finally took Jamie's advise and released Angela Lawrence from captivity, pretending to the one saving her, from her captors.
This is my first step towards crippling Clyde Daniels once and for all.
Angela Lawrence couldn't stop crying to her parents and even my grandfather about her eternal gratitude to me for saving her from the ordeal she met at the hands of her captors. The harsh reality is Cam, didn't hold back and it's scary to know that Ms. Lawrence will forever bear the scars reminding her of this.
After finding out it was Clyde Daniels who was after me, I was able to acquire his trademark necklace he never went without on one of his drunken nights.
Pretending not to know the owner of the necklace, I nod for Justin to hand it over to Mr. Lawrence but kept my eyes on my shocked grandfather.
"This was found near Ms. Lawrence" Justin informs them politely.
Frowning, Mr. Lawrence takes it from Justin's hand, his eyes widening in surprise!
Staring at the shock on the faces of both men, "you recognise the necklace?" Pretending to be surprise by both their reactions, I asked.
"YES!" Mr. Lawrence responded angrily at the same time my grandfather responded with a soft "No" angering Mr. Lawrence which is what we hoped to achieved.
"Well which is it?" I asked staring at the them, satisfied inwardly when Mr. Lawrence lifted the necklace in front of grandfather, ignoring my question.
"Are you going to deny THIS?" Mr. Lawrence barked his anger building rapidly much to my amusement.
Confused, grandfather turned to me then back at Mr. Lawrence, shaking his head in disbelief. "NO! NO!" Shouting he stands but his body's shaking nervously, "no, it can't be!" Grandfather kept speaking but now it seems he's trying to convince himself that the owner of the necklace wouldn't kidnap the daughter of his 'best friend' and treat her this way.
To keep up pretenses, I had to keep the fire blazing.
"Do you know the owner of this necklace?" I asked again but this time grandfather in a daze, didn't answer but Mr. Lawrence confirms, they both knew the owner.
"Grandfather," I walked closer to where he was still sitting. "There's one way to find the owner of the necklace" I tell him, forcing him to look up at me. "Call him," I insisted but he shook his head.
"NO, NO!" he stubbornly refused to call the owner of the necklace, "he would never do something like this." Grandfather continues with determination but all I need, is plant a see of doubt into Mr. Lawrence's mind and I have a foot in, into Clyde Daniel's territory.
Turning to Mr. Lawrence, "would you like us to pay the owner of this necklace a visit but if grandfather is determined that he is not guilty of hurting your daughter the way he did, then we would have to put grandfather under house arrest until then." I suggested, because the last thing we need is grandfather warning Clyde of our impending arrival.
"Works for me!" Gritting his teeth, Mr. Lawrence glares at my grandfather.
Trying but failing to stand once again, "no wait," grandfather pleads softly, his eyes on me.
"Let me call him to double check on the whereabouts of his necklace," grandfather offers.
Justin walks closer, his height and posture meant to be intimidating.
"No!" Justin says firmly, "do it our way," Justin says, turning all focus on him.
Without saying a word, grandfather nods quickly, "yes, yes." He readily agreed. "Just tell me, but I know the owner of this necklace would never do something like this." Grandfather was quick to add.
Still angry, "I beg to differ," Mr. Lawrence contradicted him.
I nod silently for Justin to elaborate.
"Call the owner of the necklace on speaker and inform him, about finding his necklace." Justin advised him, which works for us.
Grandfather slowly took his phone and reluctantly dialled a number.
The phone rang out but when he lifted his eyes to explain what we heard, our expressions, must have stopped him. He redialled instead because now is not the time for excuses. The seed of must be planted today.
After ringing out three times, we struck gold on the fourth attempt.
"What the f**k are you bothering me for?" The man grandfather called yelled at him.
Grandfather flinched at the greeting he received but one look at Mr. Lawrence, he had to continue.
Like a broken man grandfather slowly responds.
"I.. I.. uh just" grandfather stutters and I exchanged a quick glance with Justin.
Grandfather was afraid of his son, Clyde!
"Oh f**k, I don't have time to waste on a useless old man, unless you called to say the lawyer is dead?" Clyde barks into the phone.
Grandfather lifts his eyes guiltily at me, the lawyer!
Folding my arms, I wait for him to continue unsure between Mr. Lawrence and I, who were angrier.
"No, I just" grandfather paused again, watching me.
"WHAT?" Clyde barks, loudly.
"Your necklace, I... I.. em... I have it" grandfather finally explains the reason for his call. Justin edged closer to ensure grandfather get the information we need to break his ties with Mr. Lawrence once and for all.
"F**k" Clyde mutters, the tone of his voice lowered. "Where did you get it?" Clyde asks.
Grandfather's entire demeanor fell! It's as if his entire world has exploded, aging him in an instant.
Before grandfather could say anything to alert him, Justin grabbed his phone and hung up.
"Wait," grandfather looks pleadingly at Mr. Lawrence but the younger Mr. Lawrence learned down and connected grandfather's jaw with his right hand, causing grandfather to topple over on the floor.
As if on que, grandfather's phone started ringing, but it has fallen on the floor beside grandfather. I kicked it away from him, leaving it to ring out.
Then it rang again!
