Chapter 187 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY SEVEN

Jamie nods and answers my question, but couldn't hide the fear in her eyes!

Looking down I covered her hands that's clenched on her lap.

Whatever Jamie's decision now, I would never admit that she didn't have a choice, but I also know she would have her own conditions for agreeing.

Should I be worried?

Clenching her hands, "Jamie, do you understand what you just agreed to?" I had to ask, aware that it could be risky but I had to know and once this conversation is over, there'll be no going back.

"I need a nursery" she answers, "the Castle has dozens of rooms and the cabin doesn't, right?" She responded smoothly, a smile hovering at the corner of her lips.

Taken aback by the answer, I knelt in front of her unable to hide my surprise.

"F**k!" I muttered, but of course she heard and pushed my hands away in disgust!

Glaring at me, "really?" She sneered, but I couldn't respond because I was too embarrassed to reveal that I haven't started working on the nursery, although I did select the furnishings necessary but I still have to pass it across for my wife's approval.

"You're not prepared for the baby?" She asked, not hiding her hurt and disappointment.

Taking hold of her hands and not allowing her to push me away, "Jamie I have things in place but I haven't made any moves yet." I explained quickly, her brows knitting together eyeing me in disbelief.

"I selected furniture and everything the site recommends, but I haven't bought it yet, because it's a decision we need to make together, right?" I asked, her frown deepening and eyes widening in shock, then embarrassment.

"Oh," the hurt and disappointment from a few seconds ago gone and replaced by surprise and embarrassment.

Lifting the hands I held to my lips, "I'm sorry, I wanted it to be a surprise but all we seem to do most days if fight," I admitted, kissing her hand before pulling the chair closer, I pulled out the phone from my pocket. "Here let me show you," I opened the phone but Jamie remained as if she's frozen in her seat, staring at me with a sorrowful expression.

"Are you okay?" I asked worried at her demeanor.

Shaking her head, "If I admit something to you, would we fight again?" She asks softly.

Shutting off my phone, I gave her my full attention, her sad smile changing to awkward.

Stretching out her hands, she held mines, "promise you won't get mad?" She asks softly and suddenly I am the suspicious one.

What the f**k now?

Holding my breath, "I'm listening." I responded stiffly.

"You didn't promise," she retorted childishly, with the same awkward smile.

Staring down at our entwined hands, which she took the initative to do, "I promise," I agreed nodding, having a sinking feeling, that it's a trap.

Breathing deeply, "I already bought everything needed for the baby," she said and I stopped her, cutting her explanation short.

"WHAT!" I yelled in shock and a tinge of disappointment and anger, but she cut me across this time.

Clamping my mouth with her palm, "you promised," she reminded me, nervously.

Okay so she did this without me, a big decision about a baby she believes I'm not excited about and a baby she believes she'll be leaving behind, which will only happen over my dead body!

"Logan?" Jamie calls in such an endearing tone, all because of guilt. "Logan," she calls again. Smiling to myself, aware I could use this against her in the long run.

"Okay," I responded just as gently, "if you chose it, I would love it," I smiled watching her nervousness change to suspicion.

"Okay, she repeated, chuckling softly, "but both you and I know, if we chose it together, it would have been my choice at the end, right?" She laughs and I laugh mockingly with her, although I won't ever admit, that her choice would be the only choice.

"Hey man," Jamie and I turned around simultaneously and the sound of Jerome's voice, to see him walking briskly towards us. Eyes on Jamie, he speaks to me.

"Whiz needs you. Says it's urgent," Jerome informs me, his eyes still on his sister, as a prey awaits the predator's attack.

Chuckling softly, looking between the brother and sister, choosing not to get involved.

"Okay, thanks man." I nod at Jerome, "can you ensure your sister gets back inside, while I check on Whiz, aware that it must be bad for Whiz to summon me and not to leave his turf.

Laughing I lean and kissed Jamie, thankful I didn't mention her brother reporting her slight breakdown to me, not as a tattletale, but because he was afraid, plus I did have to coax it out of him when I saw how upset he was, yesterday.

"Be good," I whispered in a her ear, before walking off, turning to see Jerome making awkward steps towards someone whose glaring at him.

I spot Whiz outside the tent, waving frantically. Picking up pace I jogged towards him, his eyes wide, his body restless.

"Clyde Daniels have been poking around the outskirts of the compound, but he's not alone," Whiz explains while we make our way towards the survellince monitor.

Okay, Jerome did mention him asking about the cabin at the lake and hanging out there in the near future, which is suppose to be after I move to the Castle.

"Should I be worried about his companion?" I asked standing behind the chair, Whiz took as the starts scrolling through the system.

"Yep," was all he said while he scrolled and hummed, ignoring the s**t out of me.

"F**k!" I muttered not out of fear, but surprise.

They just up their game and Jessica knows this compound just a well as her siblings.

"We need to evacuate this place but not through the village." I instructed, for Jamie's sake.
