"Oh and can you tell Jer to check me and bring my card? I want to buy something online and I need him to pick it up." I shout to Logan's retreating back.
Logan stopped abruptly and walked back towards me with an embarrassed smile.
Raising my eyebrows, I frowned at him. "What?" I asked finding his behavior odd.
Taking a seat beside me, he puts an arm around my shoulder. I smiled realizing he forgot to kiss me, I thought reaching up to kiss him.
Logan took full advantage of my attempt to make out, but chuckles.
"And there's that," He says, grinning mischievously. "Now the other thing is something I shouldn't have done, but I had no choice." Logan was saying leaving me totally lost now.
Frowning, "what?" I asked hoping it's not bad. "What did you do?" I persisted, getting annoyed at his smirk and worried about what he must have done.
"It's your brother's fault actually, but I can rectify that, right now," he says shifting to put a hand in his pocket.
Pulling out his wallet, he takes out a credit card and hands it to me.
Staring at the card in his hand and his face, I got more confused.
"What are you doing?" I shook my head, refusing the card. "I've still got some money left." I responded to his actions.
Looking behind him, ""yeah about that," he lowers his voice and starts whispering. "When Jerome and I went out to the barber, I forgot my wallet, so I had to use yours for our expenses," he says with regret.
Chuckling softly, "so I bought Jer a SUV?" I mocked him softly.
Laughing with me, "yeah, no. We didn't use your card for that," he laughs, when I tried to stop him but he continued confessing about his activities, yesterday. "Dad bought it for him, so yeah we didn't use your card for that." He give me a goofy smile.
I was touched at the gesture!
"Dad bought a vehicle for Jer?" I couldn't believe how kind Logan's parents really are and how much they appreciate my brother and I.
Realizing I was already getting emotional about his family's kindness towards us, my eyes teared up. I know that if I don't survive the surgery, Jer would still have a family and people around him who cared.
"Hey, hey," Logan draws me into his arms and hugs me until I stopped shaking from the emotions that were overpowering me.
"What's the keep..." Justin says walking into the room but stops when he sees us embracing. "Oh, sorry," he chuckles, "we're late but take your time," he tells Logan, his voice fading as he walks away.
I know he had to go since I sent them so I reluctantly drew away from him.
"Don't keep Mr. Lawrence or Justin waiting," I advised him.
Nodding, Logan give me the card again. "I think we maxed your card so use this until I go to the bank and transfer cash into your card." Logan explained when I still didn't take the card.
Frowning, "you don't have to pay me back," I responded, shocked that he, my husband would think he owes me.
"You and your family are taking care of my brother and I. I am so grateful for that, so I don't need you to pay me back," I reminded him.
Laughing, "Jamie, you're my wife, it's my responsibility to provide for you and I did agree to become Jerome's guardian during our marriage." Logan reminded me.
Nodding as I remember that day and the happiness I felt, but the days after only brought tears and sadness.
It's a time I refuse to dwell on, especially as I'm unsure of how much time I have left.
"LOGAN!" Justin yelled from the kitchen.
"Go," I push Logan away, but he held my hand and put his card into the palm of my hand.
Wrapping my fingers around the card, "keep this for you and I will use the card Jerome has to give him an allowance every month." Logan says leaning to kiss me again.
"Wait!" I yelled, "what about if you need something on the road?" I worry about him being moneyless while I have his card in possession.
"Justin's with me, so I'm covered and I'll still surprise you with something special when I return," Logan promises, while he walks backwards into the kitchen and out of my sight.
I stare at the black card he gave me and I know it's got lots of money in it. More money than I have ever touched in my life and I am touched that Logan considers me enough to trust me with this card.
"You wanted to see me?" Jer says strolling casually into the room, catching me off guard.
I quickly wiped my eyes, but I was not quick enough for my very observant brother whose been wiping my tears for years.
Jer was at my side in an instant, "what did Gray do?" Jer asks, holding my shoulders and staring into my eyes. When he does that, I cannot lie but then Logan hasn't done anything to hurt me, because I am happy.
Shaking my head, I opened my hand and showed him the card Logan left with me.
Confused Jer stared at the card, "okay?" He mutters waiting for me to continue.
The tears started flowing now, "oh Jer, Logan and his family cares about us and it makes me so happy." I cried against his buff chest. "I'm so happy that you will have a family when I'm gone," I continued pouring out my fears to my brother, without realizing what I was doing.
"You and my baby will have a family, but I want you to promise me to please make sure Logan's happy when I'm gone, please take care of him and the baby, just like you've taken care of me for so many years, please." I cried.
"JAMIE!"
