Chapter 172 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY TWO

Logan sat opposite me on the patio sofa, outside our bedroom in silence, because I was too angry to have him near me.

And we just sat there waiting!

Me, for an explanation about what I just overheard and by the way he kept looking at the open door connecting to our bedroom, I guess he's waiting on his breakfast!

instead of Jer coming with our breakfast, mom and dad came with two trays filled with with leftovers from dad's birthday.

Jer also followed behind with coffee and tea, but he just put the tray down in front of mom and hustle off, after meeting Logan's angry glare.

"I'm not hungry," I told mom, who sat beside me, while dad joined Logan opposite us.

Now Logan turned on me angrily, but I didn't care because I needed answers and explanations more than I needed food.

"So you're not hungry, huh?" He shook his head in disbelief. "You lied to me?" Logan stared at me with an incredulous look.

Matching his same incredulous look, "and you don't lie to me?" I retorted.

Slapping his hands on his thighs, Logan stood up angrily, "I don't f**king lie to you," Logan yelled.

Glaring at him angrily, wishing I could stand and oppose him the same way, but since I couldn't, I didn't back down, but glared at him.

Before any words could roll out of mouth, mom spoke up angrily.

"How many times have I told you about your language when the baby is in the room?" Mom glared at Logan, who turned on her with the same incredulous look, raising his hands in frustration, before sweeping the palms of his hand over his face.

"I have somewhere to be," Logan says suddenly, pouring himself a cup of coffee, then walking towards the bedroom.

Mom stood up angrily and glared at Logan's retreating back.

"Get your ass back here, now!" She yelled, "this conversation needs to happen now, or there will be consequences," mom threatened him and I looked at her in surprise, while Logan turned around ready to argue, but his father stood up calmly instead.

"Logan?" My father-in-law calls, nodding to the seat he just vacated.

I averted my eyes, when Logan turned to look at me.

This is all so wrong!

This is a conversation I needed to have with Logan, but because of my selfish and immature behavior, I got his parents involved and turned it into a family affair.

While all three Daniels stood up waiting for each other to make their moves, I reached across and took a plate off the tray, mom had filled for me.

I no longer needed to hear anything from him, I had Jer and I'm hungry after all.

Mom used the cold meat to make a sandwich, which I'm sure will taste great, but I'm not in a mood for something heavy.

"Logan?" I heard dad say above my head but I didn't look up.

"Logan!" Dad calls again, this time his tone fiercer.

"Fine," I heard Logan respond, "speak" he tells his father as he took a seat beside his father.

Both mom and dad took their respective seats, before dad took control of the conversation and started speaking, bringing up a totally different topic, than what I wanted.

"So Dr. Morris wants to do a C-Section on Jamie's seventh month and it's a procedure she has agreed to, but you keep avoiding the conversation." I looked up at dad, unaware that he was aware of my doctor's recommendations.

"We are going to discuss this as a family and we are doing that right now," dad continues sternly, his eyes on Logan, whose eyes suddenly went dark and his body tensed up.

Putting down the cup he was still holding, "I am on my way to see Doctor Morris this morning," Logan admitted, his eyes meeting mines, his expression unreadable as usual.

With a surprise look, "oh, okay" dad leans back in his chair and looks at mom and then at me. "Then take Jamie with you," he suggests with a small smile. "You guys are always stuck here with family and workers, but as a young couple, you need some alone time." Dad smiles confidently, as if his suggestion is the best plan ever.

Frowning, I turned to Logan, who was still silent after dad's suggestion.

Did he not want to be alone with me?

"Uh maybe.. it's not a good idea, right now." I said quickly, because Logan still seem to be deep in thought.

Standing up once again, "Jamie's right." Logan agreed, "now is not a good time, but what I will do though, is schedule a meeting with Doctor Morris here as soon as possible." He explains, thoughtfully.

Turning towards the doorway once again, "I have to go," Logan says before walking out without a backward glance at his parents or me.

Instead of discussing Logan's departure and my upcoming C-Section, I jumped straight into what's really bothering me.

"What was it that Jer said about Logan's safety and what does Clyde Daniels have to do with it?" I asked instead, looking at my in-laws.

Mom appeared just as curious as I am while dad's face paled at my question.

"Dad?"

"Francis?"

Mom and I said simultaneously.

Dad stared at the open doorway, where Logan just walked through and taking a deep breath, he frowns at mom and I.

"It's just something Logan and the guys are looking at," dad said, leaning forward in his chair, "since we are unable to find any links with friends and enemies of father. We..," dad was saying, then he stopped as he seems to be reconsidering what he's about to say.

"Well, Logan and the guys believe that the shooting incident which took Stan's life was not intended for you or Stan," dad says softly, his expression softens sorrowfully as he leans over to hold one of mines and one of mom's hands.

"Are they targeting my son?"
