I was jittery all day as I anticipated this evening activities.
I withheld where I was sending Jerome and with whom, because I didn't want to create a war between Jamie and I, who seemed at ease about me going out again, even if it's to my grandparents temporary residence.
After speaking to dad, he agrees, that since no one we knew in our line of business seems to be aware of any dealings with grandfather that could merit him wanting my wife out of the way, looking into grandfather's mistress is a good way to start, since even after bearing more children for grandfather, she still has nothing.
From what I gathered from dad, grandfather's mistress wanted all that my grandmother possesed including the Castle, but for some reason it was only signed over to my wife, whom my grandfather wanted dead, which would mean I would inherit the property, which still doesn't make sense, because as my grandmother's heir, I would have ultimately inherited the property.
Why Jamie?
Grandfather's mistress still has nothing, except what grandfather gives to her in the form of dollars and cents, but the property is still intact and cannot be divided until either one of my grandparents passes and grandmother's properties are already willed to me.
So at the end of the day, grandfather's mistress and her children can receive nothing, unless dad and I co-sign with grandfather on some properties.
How did grandfather convince my grandmother to sign the Castle to Jamie?
"Nothing adds up dad, nothing" I slammed the pen I was using to make notes on the desk in Jamie's grandfather's office or den as he called it, which dad uses.
Whiz leaned forward pulling my notepad towards him, staring at what's written down thoughtfully.
"Mr. Daniels," Whiiz address my father, something he rarely does.
"You and Logan stands to inherit everything, right?" Whiz asks his eyes on me.
Wondering where Whiz is going with his thoughts, I nod even though I am suddenly nervous which is so unlike me.
"Your grandfather's other family has nothing to get, except the monies he will leave to them, because everything worth anything, your grandmother has already willed to you." Whiz continues and I nod, already realizing where this conversation is going.
Whiz continue to speak, but I stopped him, "so the only person worth eliminating," I whispered softly, but loud enough for all eyes to be focused on me, "is me and my child." I concluded and suddenly the nervousness I felt evaporated, leaving my body cold, as dead.
Dad was by my side instantly, "Logan, it's just a theory," dad was saying but I understood so much more now.
Lifting my hand, I stopped dad, from continuing with whatever he was going to say.
"If our theory is correct, I know what I need to do and this time, there is no stopping me, from now on, I lead and you follow." I said, pointing to dad.
Turning to Whiz and I, "maybe we are jumping the gun here, maybe dad doesn't have it in for you" dad was saying, but he appeared doubtful and I now understand why we kept knocking our heads against the wall searching for the people with whom grandfather has made deals with, without looking at his extended family.
He made deals with them. He made promises he cannot keep unless his mistress's children are the only survivors of the Daniels name.
I got up and started pacing, "everything goes as planned. I want to make sure Jerome is safe, while I visit grandmother," I instructed Whiz and turned to dad, "and you remain at home with my wife and mother." I instructed dad raising my hands to stop him, as he opened his mouth.
"I'm only going to visit grandmother like I planned, the only person at risk will be Jerome, especially as he let it slip that Jamie is with me." I explained to dad, "we have to correct that statement and maybe have Jerome say he was embarrassed to disclose that she ran away." I said as I continue to rack my brain for a suitable explanation for last night at George's specials.
"I need to see Jamie," I said as I walked away and headed to my empty bedroom.
As the curtains for the patio flew up, I walked out see my wife reading a text book which she quickly rest down and frowns at me.
Without saying a word, I rushed over and pulled her in my arms and just hugged her in silence, holding her head against my chest every time she tried lifting it away.
"Logan?" She seems baffled, but I had no idea what to say, all I knew is that I needed her close.
"What happened?" Jamie mumbles, but I understood her words and I heard her fears, I just pray she doesn't hear mines.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think my grandfather would turn on me for my inheritance, but I suddenly believe it. There is no other explanation, grandfather needs everything grandmother owns for his bastards, which can only be obtained through me, but I vow to destroy him in front of their eyes, by bankrupting him first.
Sensing I didn't want to speak, Jamie and I cuddled in silence as I await Justin to pick me up.
By six thirty, I was already dressed in a black jeans and black dress shirt adding a black leather jacket and completing my outfit with my black Jordans.
Jamie was prop against the pillows watching me, cradling my baby, with a smile I couldn't read.
Chuckling, "need a camera?" I ask, turning the way she asked me to on the first day, when I modeled for her.
Pointing to her head, "I've got it all up here," she retorted, with the same unreadable expression.
Taking my phone from the dresser, I turned unexpectedly and snapped her, as she sat on the bed, wearing one of my mother's designs, a bright yellow sundress, that she only gets to use at home because she's stuck in this room until the baby comes.
"See you later," I said, kissing her goodbye.
