Chapter 120 - CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY

Logan and I made the return trip to the cabin with the others around somewhere keeping guard, observing us from a distance.

Mrs. Stanley made lots of extra food and I know that it's for the boys

They are the extended family of the Daniels. I see that dad and Logan has a lot of love and appreciation for the guys, whose had their back over the years. From what I understand, even though dad chose another life, he kept the men close because of potential threats that, as mom says, always return to bite us in the ass.

I stare at my husband as he drove in brooding silence, his firm jaw, clenching and unclenching deep in thought. Both his hands gripped the steering wheel that he is hunched over, which is not a normal posture of his.

Inspite of the wonderful afternoon and me getting back my wedding rings and a few added gifts, that are still unopen, I thought the afternoon went well, then why is Logan still in a pensive mood.

"Thank you for a wonderful afternoon" I said breaking the silence and no doubt invading his thoughts.

But my comment was met by silence, as my husband kept his eyes on the trail we were driving back on and by the looks of the trail, it was new and recently opened up.

"Logan" I said a little firmer hoping that he hears me or has he turned me off again.

"I heard you the first time" he responds abruptly with his eyes still on the road ahead, with bushes to the left and right of us.

He heard me the first time? What the hell is going on again with him going from cold to hot and now back to cold.

Shrugging my shoulders, I shook my head and turned away, because I am sure I can do the silent game better than he can.

The balance of the drive back was in total silence and I try, not to allow it to bother me, because I knew what it was like to be shut out of the lives of people that I loved and now the people that I love or in this case, the person that I love.

I never want to be known as a nagging wife, but something is not right and something is bothering Logan and as usual, he's not going to share this part of his life and the problems that arise, with me and I believe that it is part of his strategy to keep me safe.

Normally, I would jump and bolt from the jeep, but not today. Not today, when my baby's health is at risk and I can't afford to lose my child incase I can never have another baby.

Logan was already jumping out of the jeep as we stopped, "wait here" he commanded and of course I obeyed, but it was not for him but for my baby.

Logan got the wheel chair from the back while the Tech guy, I've come to know as Whiz, comes running towards Logan. I frowned, because, he always run bearing bad news.

From the rearview mirror, I can see them speaking or more like Whiz speaking with both his hands and his mouth, while Logan lifts the wheel chair and nods, without responding. Logan clenches his jaw and shakes his head angrily, turning to look in the direction from where we just came from and then back to the vehicle.

We were the first to arrive from the picnic and I start worrying, wondering what could have happened after we left.

Finally I see Logan say something to Whiz and he nods and runs back in the direction, from which he came from and Logan looks up, meeting my gaze in the rearview mirror.

He comes with the chair, standing beside me, leaning the chair against the jeep, he places a hand on the top of the jeep and another on my lap. A gesture that sent chills up and down my spine.

He looks left and right, then at me, "we have a leak inside here and I have no idea who it is. Nobody new came in so one of our guys has been compromised." Logan says sounding irritable.

"Ask Gwen" I says quickly and he glances at me with a frown and I continued. "Ask Gwen," I repeated, "she was saying that your grandfather wants me away from you, but through death." I relayed what Gwen said, suddenly afraid.

Sighing angrily, Logan looks behind us again, tapping the finger that was on my lap, with his eyes searching the trail. His handsome forehead, creased in worry. His parents and my brother, Mrs. Stanley, together with his friends, whom he considers as brothers are still out there.

Logan didn't ask me to elaborate on what Gwen said to me, but I hope that he follows through with questioning her. Not because I don't trust her, but because she might be able to help us.

Suddenly Logan turns back to me, "Jamie, I need to tell you something," Logan said and I nod and wait for him to continue. He looks back at the trail and then back at me. "There is a threat on mom's life also and whosoever's been assigned to hurt her, is apparently here, on this property." He exclaim as fear grips me and it grips me tightly.

I turn and followed his gaze, "can't you call to see where they are?" I asked, not just worried but afraid. I never want anyone to go through being shot, like I was and like I went through.

Nodding his head, "Whiz already spoke to Cameron, they got kept back packing the food, they should be here soon." He exclaimed, "come let me take you inside to freshen up and get some rest." He opens the chair, then scoops me in his arms, his eyes travelling to the trail one, more time, before he walks inside the cabin, taking me in bridal style.
