Logan slept most of the day and Dr. Morris didn't show up so my worries increased but I was hesitant to include his parents.
Three calls to Cameron confirms that's he's also unavailable, but I need their doctor and didn't have the number.
I sat on the bed, beside Logan, feeling his forehead and he definitely has a temperature. "Logan, Logan" I called, shaking him, gently at first then more earnestly. "Logan wake up" I continued to shake him and I can feel him stirring but he didn't answer which got me scared.
I walked to our back door, looking around for one of the guys but for some f****** reason, no one was around. I wonder how far their camp is at and if I can make that long walk. JER!
I dialed Jer and he answered and just as quickly hangs up, "I'm in class" he says but it's important so I dialed again and he would know that I wouldn't disturb him unless it was urgent.
"WHAT JAMIE?" he shouts angrily, at my second and I didn't care.
"I need Cameron to come here as soon as possible!" I exclaimed quickly and Jer realizes that it's urgent for me to be panicking.
"At my backdoor"" I added before he hung up.
I left the door open and went back to Logan, whose skin felt hotter and he was restless. "Logan, I am worried, please let me know you're good. Please baby, tell me where it hurts. Please Logan" I cry as my backdoor flung open and Jer barges in followed by a disheveled Cameron.
Pointing to Logan, "Please call your doctor or take me to him." I cry to Cameron, whose was already dialing a number and walking outside to speak privately.
Cameron walks back inside, "Doc will be here in fifteen minutes," Cameron says and walks into the bathroom, returning with a damp towel as Jer, hovers around with a questioning look in both mines and Cameron's direction. Cameron place the damp towel on Logan's head and I curse myself for not thinking of this sooner.
I didn't know what to say, so I just lift my head and smile awkwardly at my brother.
"What's wrong with Grey? Aren't you calling his mother?" Jer reminds me and I look a concern Cameron who nods at Jer.
"Go call Mrs. D" Cameron instructs Jer, who rushes out through the backdoor.
Cameron turns to me, "don't say anything, let me just handle it and wait until Logan is ready to come clean." Cameron instructs me, his worried eyes on Logan's restless frame.
"Don't worry doc should be here anytime now and it's definitely an infection. He will be fine." Cameron explains, looking behind him at the backdoor, "the problem will be explaining this to his mother and father.""
My face crumples tearfully, "it's my fault, for suggesting you guys do something and now he's lying here helpless, just as I am." I cry and Cameron interrupts me.
With a hand awkwardly patting my shoulder, "it isn't your fault and don't say that because Logan and all of us knew the risks involved. We choose to go where we went and did what we had to do" Cameron consoles me.
Leaning down, he removes the damp towel and places the moist part on Logan's forehead again. Reaching out I felt his forehead, that has a cool sensation, but he is still unconscious.
"What's going on here?" Mom storms in, through the backdoor, follow by Jer and I immediately wonder how much Jer told her.
Cameron took the initiative and responded to mom's question, because if left to me, I would blurt out everything and my part in it.
Mom, looks expectantly up to Cameron, waiting for him to continue when Logan starts moaning and Cameron's phone starts ringing.
"Jamie," Logan mutters over and over, his head and body twisting side to side and I am definitely out of my element here, because I don't know how to help him.
Crying, I leaned over him, holding his shoulder in place, "I'm here babe, it's going to be okay. Cameron said that you seem to be having a fever." I spoke to Logan, hoping he understand what I am saying. "I love you and it will be okay. Just like you said we will be okay." I cooed to him, caressing his face and chest.
"Jamie," Cameron called and I looked around to see him escorting the doctor in. I immediately moved out of his way to stand beside my fuming mother-in-law.
One glance in her direction and I looked away, unsure, how to correct this situation.
"Logan, please be okay" I mumble quietly.
The doctor whispers to Cameron and Cameron turns to mom and I, "doc would like you to wait outside" Cameron informs us, as he watches mom nervously.
I was already lifting a foot to leave when I heard my angry mother-in-law, "move me" she retorted angrily and Cameron looks away with a smirk. Apparently he was expecting this answer.
I stood awkwardly, staring a Logan's chest as he is partly hidden between the doctor and Cameron.
"Where's Justin?" mom suddenly asks while the doctor was changing Logan's dressing and for that I moved closer so that I could help him when the doctor leaves.
Cameron, turns to mom and I can see his nervousness, but he quickly covers it, his expression going blank.
Looking at me before returning his gaze to mom, "Justin is at the camp with the guys" he says which is the truth and I can see his tense frame as he wait for her to interrogate him further.
I am actually afraid to look at her and I am ready and willing to spill everything out, but Cameron ask me to be silent and I don't want to betray Logan and his friends.
Mom turns to Jer, "can you go and get Justin please" she asks and he looks at Cameron and I before nodding and literary ran out of the room.
Mom is really scary when she is mad. She should be the one in charge here, I thought, my eyes glued on Logan"s face, that is covered in sweat.
