Chapter 88 - CHAPTER EIGHTY EIGHT

Mom kept silent on the drive to her home with a scowl on her normally calm exterior. I know she must be upset about her home, but I'm nervous to mention it.

I did the only thing I could do and placed my hand on hers, giving it a soft squeeze.

Lifting her eyes with a comforting smile, she covers my hand with her free hand, squeezing it tightly.

Every time I lifted my eyes, I could see Logan staring at me through the rearview mirror, appearing anxious.

JESSICA SCOTT! What can I expect to see when I get to the mansion? The fact that whatever happened scared Jess into reaching out to Jer is something I am concern about.

Can I trust her enough to welcome her into my life? Can I trust her around my husband? My eyes instinctively lifted and yet again met my husband's troubled expression in the rearview mirror.

Based on what Gwen revealed last night, Jessica is delusional and I know delusional people are not always in their right mind.

And with my present condition, I cannot afford to have an unstable person around me, especially someone who collaborated to have me killed.

Hearing a gasp beside me and felt my hand being squeezed with extreme strength, my eyes darted to mom's, before following her gaze.

Her home, as she knew it, was no more! The gates were down, I noticed as Logan drove slowly into what looks like a warzone.

Mom, dad and Logan gazed around but only mom reacted openly towards the sight in front of her. It was devastating!

I immediately felt a sense of fear at the thought of what Jess must have gone thorough.

GOD PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A RIGHT DECISION CONCERNING MY SISTER! SHOW ME IF I CAN TRUST HER! PLEASE! I closed my eyes and prayed, earnestly. I just need. a sign!

Logan maneuvers his SUV through the lines of squad cars and ambulances parked out front, until he reaches the side of the building that leads to the kitchen. Stopping, in front of the kitchen, leaves me wondering if I am invading the privacy of this family.

With the engine still idling, Logan and his dad, came out of the vehicle, staring at each other over the hood of the vehicle, before dad opened mom's door. As she stepped out, she leveled day with one slap across his cheek before glaring at a snickering Logan, whose smile wiped cleaned, at his mother's scowl.

Logan briefly turned around, his head slightly bent to switch off the engine, as Justin walked up and slapped him on the back and chuckles at dad's expression, apparently having seen mom slap him.

THEY KNOW! THEY DARN WELL KNEW, THESE F***ING A****LES!

Without waiting for my charming husband to open the door for me, I stepped out of the vehicle, as Cameron, who was further away, reached out to assist me, faster than my husband who was so much closer!

Logan's eyes became dark and cloudy as he stares at Cameron helping me step out of the SUV, slamming the door shut behind me, Cameron releases my hand into Logan's with a smirk.

"Thanks" I muttered, lifting my eyes to Cameron's, before turning to glare at my husband, whose hard glare was still focused on his friend, for assisting me.

I tugged Logan's arm to get his attention, "what do I expect when I get in there?" I asked, giving my husband a challenging look.

Looking away from Cameron, Logan faces me, shaking his head. "We'll both find out soon enough." He mutters, wrapping the arm he held my hand with, across my waist.

Mom and dad had already walked ahead of us, with Justin, Cameron and Jer, moving past us to enter ruins to the mansion.

Logan bent to lift me, but I stopped him, "I can walk" I told him, climbing the steps without his assistance, with little pain.

I tugged Logan's arm again, before we entered what was once the kitchen entrance, "are you going to bring them to the cabin?" I asked with a cold tone, avoiding Logan's eyes.

Coming to standing in front of me, Logan grabbed my shoulders, "is that way you are here?" He asked, staring at me in disbelief.

I'm afraid! Yes I am afraid that Logan will try to help his grandparents and Jessica.

Without answering him, I tried to pull out of his grip, "I'm sorry, I am intruding during your family time," I apologized, making one last attempt to pull free, "I'll wait in the vehicle." the words came out broken, because of I was close to tears.

Logan walked me back to the vehicle, opening the door for me to sit, "scoot" he says, moving to join me.

Looking pointedly at the mansion, "your grandparents are probably waiting to see you!" I reminded him, secretly happy that he choose to remain with me.

Justin, return outside with quick strides, looking around before he notices us in the vehicle.

"I think you should both come and see how those guys are trying to worm their way back into your lives" Justin tells us and Logan shook his head.

"We're good" Logan, dismisses Justin, just as Jer comes barging out of the house, storming towards the vehicle behind us.

"Maybe we should see what the upset is all about?" I suggested calmly, as Jer slams the door of the SUV.

Sighing, "if you don't like what you see, don't take it out on me, okay?" Logan, climbs out of the vehicle once again, taking me with him.

Taking short glances between Justin and Logan, "I know" I said, trying to walk ahead of them, but my husband pulled me beside him,

Justin stares at me with a calculating look, "know what?" He asks, folding his arms trying to intimidate me.

Logan butts in, "she knows." he shook his head, indicating that Justin should lead the way inside.

"Smart girl."
