Logan stood behind the elderly gentleman, who was bald in front with greys in the back of his head. He seem to be in his seventies, casually dressed in a navy sweater that hung loosely over his loose fitting navy dress pants. He stood staring at me in surprise.
Frowning, his eyes are suddenly moist with tears as he stares at me, captivated.
With a kind smile, he came forward.
"Good morning" he stretches a hand out to me. "I'm Hudson, Hudson Phillip. Your late grandfather was a colleague, uh friend of mines" Mr. Phillips introduces himself to me.
There's something oddly familiar about him but what?
"Jamie" Logan's voice cut through my thoughts. My eyes sought his, over Mr. Phillips shoulder, as he nods to Mr. Phillips outstretched hand.
"Uh sorry" I apologize, reaching out to shake his hand. "Jamie, I'm Jamie uh, um, Daniels" I blush shyly.
What the hell is wrong with me, blushing, seriously.
With the same smile, he clasps my hand in both of his nodding happily.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Daniels. It's a pleasure to finally meet the eldest granddaughter of Elvin Scott." he kissed my hand with tears in his eyes.
Mr. Phillips still holding my hand, wipes his eyes with one hand, as he seem unable to control his emotions.
I raised my eyes to Logan, who stood cautiously looking on, "are you okay?" I searched Mr. Phillips face, staring at his eyes as they continue to full up with tears.
Nodding, "yes, I'm fine. I'm, I'm just so happy to finally see you." his eyes travels to the wheelchair, before returning to my face. "What happened?" he asked concerned, his eyes full of fear.
"I'm.." I started, but Logan cuts me off.
"She had an accident and needs to stay off her feet for a few months" Logan says coming around to me placing a arm protectively around my shoulders.
Sensing a change in the atmosphere, from the tone of Logan's voice, Mr. Phillips smiles and slowly releases my hand staring nervously at Logan who continues to intimidate him with a glare.
Nodding, "I'm here concerning the front portion of this property and the lands behind this cabin." he spoke to Logan but his eyes kept returning to me.
"Would you like to have a seat?" I turned and glared at my rude husband, standing beside me, looking hot in his black joggers and black T-shirt as he continues to make Mr. Phillips feel uncomfortable.
Mr. Phillips stared at Logan who was glaring at him, mentally seeking permission from Logan to sit down.
*Uh.. uh maybe another time." Mr. Phillips was saying and I turned to my ill mannered husband.
"Logan" I addressed him in a scolding tone, "you're being rude" I mutter softly, addressing Mr. Phillips.
"Please," I wheeled myself out of the kitchen
Why is he being so mean to an old man. I know we are under a threat, but there is a something about this man, Mr. Phillip and I need to know more, especially since my life as I knew it, is now questionable.
I conveniently position my chair, so my husband can easily sit close to me and Mr. Phillips choose to sit as far away from Logan as possible.
Suddenly remembering something, Mr. Phillips stood up as if the chair he just sat on, had fire under him. "goodness, I forgot, my wife's in the truck waiting. Can I bring her in or should I come back another time?" Mr. Phillips ask, his eyes on Logan.
I spoke before Logan, "please invite her in, I would love to meet her" I said quickly, narrowing my eyes at my annoying husband.
"Yes please, let's bring her in" Logan said mockingly.
Mr. Phillps taking his cue from me, accepted our invitation.
Mrs. Stanley came out of her room and I asked her to bring refreshments for our guests. I quickly filled her in about my hopes to find out more about myself from them, while Logan went with Mr. Phillips to escort his wife in.
Mr. Phillips returned with his wife, a well dressed woman, who seem to be in her sixties, dressed in a cream jacket and a cream pants with a navy blue shirt inside and a flat navy blue whole shoe. Her full head of hair was dark brown with shooting greys.
Mrs. Stanley gasps behind my shoulder while I sat in an eerie silent at the smiling woman who followed my husband inside the living room, with her husband coming in behind her.
Logan face says it all!
"Please have a seat," Logan invited Mrs. Phillip to sit in a chair directly opposite me.
"Thank you" she responded quietly still smiling at my husband.
Coming to sit near me, "I would like you to meet my wife, Jamie, Jamie Daniels." Logan introduces Mrs. Phillips to me, while I was still lost, looking at her eyes.
Mrs. Phillips finally turned to acknowledge me, gasping when her eyes met mines. The same identical shade of mines.
"Leah" she whispers softly, her bright smile slowly diminishes and she turned to her husband whose standing beside her. He nods, with tears in his eyes.
What the f**k is going on. I felt Logan squeeze my shoulders. I turn around to face him and he was just in awe of the situation as me.
"Leah?" I repeated starting at her.
Nodding she comes forward and bends her back, holding my face, "you're so beautiful" she whispers, "just like her." Mrs. Phillips kisses both my cheeks and hugs me.
"Like her?" I asked searching her face, hoping that today I get the answers of my past.
Mr. Phillips came forward and touches his wife on the shoulder. "I think we should leave." he suggest and I felt Logan move from behind me.
She shook her head in refusal, but with the look and smile he gave her, she reluctantly give in to his suggestion.
