Like everyone else, I await Logan's response to his mother's question.
Shrugging, he draws my chair closer to him, putting an arm around me.
I felt him sigh, "if I remain there, grandfather will always find someway to keep interfering" he says.
"Won't that be running?" Justin asks.
Shaking his head, "no, no it isn't. I'll be helping mom at the fashion house to keep myself in the public eye, but ALL" he emphasizes, ALL, "of my attention would be building this place." he says confidently.
"More like building this fortress" I muttered, realizing too late that, I said it out loud.
Tugging my neck, Logan kisses my newly washed hair.
"Your fortress" he whispers, kissing my head.
Logan continues to speak, but I realize that Logan is in charge in this war against his grandfather. "I'm taking Justin to the doctor this morning" he says looking at Cameron, who immediately sits up. "I'll be back before lunch, so I would like you to scout for a location on the compound for training. We are already in negotiations to purchase the property in front but it's the property behind us that is proving difficult." Logan continued giving out instructions. His mother's eyes, reflect deep concern about her son's changes.
Maybe I was like her, before, I was thrown into the lake, but now? Now it's different. Mr. Daniels didn't just seek me out, he made a move on my unborn child and that, is where he crossed the line. As much as I hate to admit it, I would even pull a trigger on Jessica.
"I need you to train me to use a gun." I said loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Jamie" mom started but looking straight at my brother, I interrupted her.
"And I want Jerome to take training with you." I see his surprise expression, that quickly changed to delight. With a smirk, he nodded.
I turned to dad, "I would also like to have Gwen working here, with me as soon as possible." I requested firmly, finally taking charge of my life.
Dad's gaze flickered to my husband before he nods in agreement, with mom placing her hands on his, her facial expression, etched with worry.
"Jamie." mom tries to speak to me again, but with my mind make up I know that nothing she says would change my mind, still, I allowed her to speak.
Shaking her head, "Jamie, I know that you are scared, but you have Logan and the guys to protect you. You don't have to join them." mom argued, but I was prepared, because nothing was going to deter me.
Smiling, I shook my head, "I'm not joining them, It's for me, to protect my baby." I cried, hitting my chest for emphasis. "They crossed the line when they tried to knowingly kill my child and I fully support my husband and all of the decisions he makes from here onwards." I stated firmly.
I could see that dad was impress with my decision, but mom? No she doesn't appear supportive and I'm not against her.
I turned to Logan, "I will try to find the owners of the adjoining property" I told him, because if memory serves me right, I own all of the land, where the river flows.
"You own that land" Jer responds rather quickly.
Still uncertain, "I think I do and from the conversations I've had with gramps, I own the land up until the river starts." I said with a faraway look, trying to remember conversations that I've had concerning this property over the years. "I still have to check for the deed." I said at the same time fighting to remember where she kept it.
Frowning at Jer, "how did you know?" I was curious.
Jer, looks at me thoughtfully, "I'm not sure but I heard talk around the house when you went off to college." He looks at me and I nod at him to continue, because I need to know the truth about myself.
With a sad expression, he continues, "I heard mom nagging dad about getting you to sign the property over to him so that Jess and I could also get a portion of this land." he shakes his head in disbelief while he is speaking.
"But dad, said that it was your inheritance and when you're twenty one, he would approach you for parcels of the property for Jess and I." He continues sharing all that he heard while I was away.
I am slowly beginning to believe that I am not a Scott. I look at Jer wondering if he knew.
"Didn't you know about it?" Jer asks and I couldn't honestly answer him,
Shaking my head, "Jer, I may have heard talk about the property but I just assumed that I was placed in charge until we all share it later on.
Confused, "Jer why did you support grams lie about the property being sold." I watch his eyes darken as he remembers something awful.
"Jer please?" I persisted.
Jer looks at Logan, before focusing his attention back on me.
Standing up, "I can't, not right now." he says and storms out.
"Follow him." Logan instructs, while I shout for Jer to return.
Cameron stands up to go after Jer.
Dad stood up, "Cam wait up, I don't want Jerome to walk into the line of fire if he attacks Jessica." dad responded, worried.
Why do my siblings and I always put the Daniels in trouble.
"I'm sorry" I told mom softly, watching Logan walks off with the phone attached to his ear.
Logan didn't seem surprise by what Jer said. Did he already have foreknowledge about me and this property?
"What are you sorry about?" mom ask, taking the chair Logan just vacated.
Ashamed, I didn't want to but felt compel to repeat myself, "since I came into your family, my family has been causing problems nonstop for you." I told her.
"Stop blaming yourself sweetheart"
