Chapter 70 - CHAPTER SEVENTY

JAMIE'S POV

Tears started seeping through, "I need a doctor" I cried out in pain to my brother who stood with his mouth open wide in horror. "Please don't let me lose my baby!" I cried, but my brother, stood like a statue, looking scared and started panicking. He pulled out his phone, as he ran outside.

I felt Logan's hand on my back, before I heard his voice, "Jamie, sweetheart, the doctor is here" He caresses my back as I laid curled up on my side.

Dr. Morris stood at the side of the bed beside Logan, who knelt before me, anxiously, apparently, staring for signs for distress and pain.

"I heard you pulled some stunts last night" Dr. Morris laughs softly, along with a nurse who worked in Logan's ward when he was in a coma.

I tried to at least fake laugh with him, but the pain was unbearable. Screwing my face, not caring how I appeared to them, "please, save my baby" I cried, scared, because I can't recall hearing them come in. I must have dozed off.

The nurse comes closer, having to literally shoo Logan to the side, "we need to examine her" the nurse tells him. Logan moves, but not without glaring at the nurse who just smile and ignored him, showing him, whose in charge.

I ended up stripping remaining only with my underwear, for the doctor to probe my body for the part that are paining the most. Logan never left, keeping his eyes on the doctor, his expression unreadable.

Dr. Morris's expression was serious and that off course got me trembling.

"Jamie, you need to come into the hospital later today so that you can get an ultrasound" Dr. Morris started, "but, I am going to be putting you on complete bed rest for a few days," he continued as I start screwing my face, repulsed by that idea.

"It's not just for you but for your baby." Dr. Morris advises me, turning to Logan. "Logan, I will send a nurse for the next three days, just to ensure that Jamie stays of her feet at all times, when she returns from the hospital." Dr. Morris explains to Logan, whose eyes are still focused on me. Logan nods, agreeing with the doctor.

Logan smiles at the nurse who assisted Dr. Morris, "would the hospital be able to release you to stay with my wife until the baby comes. I can promise you that you will get extra help, but to be honest, with this second attempt on her life, I'm not willing to trust anyone new around her" Logan said bluntly surprising the nurse and Dr. Morris.

Logan made the decision without my input for a fulltime nurse, but there is something about his demeanor that caused me to stay quiet.

Instead I ask what was most important to me, "my baby?" I look at the doctor, searching for signs that he might be hiding something from me.

Dr. Morris smiles, encouraging me, "Jamie, I heard a good strong heartbeat so I don't want you worrying. Your pressure is good. What I need right now is for you to relax and keep yourself and your baby safe and healthy." Dr. Morris explains, helping me to relax.

"I need to do the ultrasound to ensure that all is well plus I will also be running some test on your spine to also ensure that, there are no additional damages." he explains, renewing my fear.

"Jamie, I must ensure that both you and the baby are fine. Just trust me and don't go crying and upsetting yourself." Dr. Morris continued, nodding at Logan to support his decision.

Logan spoke instead, "Dr. I would like you to make arrangements for a new wheelchair and an ultrasound machine when Jamie and I come in later today." he says, again surprising the doctor.

Logan, Dr. Morris and the nurse, my new nurse left me to rest until later for the doctor's appointment. I feel the pain subsiding as I laid calmly, thinking about the last few hours and how my life, our lives, have changed again.

Mom came in with a cup of chocolate tea, that I was totally grateful for, but she was so worried, and a sleepless night did not to help her.

"I'm so sorry that I went out on my own" I started, but she interrupted me.

Touching my feet, "Jamie don't. To be honest, a traitor was working with us and the longer he remained here the worst it might have been. Personally I am happy that all of this happened" she paused realizing what she said, "oh sweetheart. not what happened to you and I am happy that you are fine plus we were able to get rid of them" mom continued chatting unaware that I have gone numb. THEM?

I started sipping the hot tea getting accustom to the temperature, then quickly empty the cup, drying my mouth, I look to the door as mom looked at me suspiciously, "can I ask you something?" I asked her.

Mom nodded cautiously, "I'm always afraid when you start like that" mom chuckles.

Lowering my tone, "Jess is involved." I told her instead of asking her because I don't want to dance around the truth.

Mom was surprise, but not shocked, so now I just wait for her response.

She turned to the doorway before speaking to me in the same hush tone, "yes!" she answered nervously,

She frowns when I gasp in shock. "Jamie" mom sad countenance reflected mines.

I have to be strong! I have to be strong! I started chanting in my mind. I have to be strong!

Shaking my head in disbelief, "I need a PI" I continued speaking to her in a hushed tone.

Confused, "Logan has PI's" mom tells me, but she also realizes that whatever I'm about to do, I don't want Logan to know.

"Okay, I'll help you, but should I be concern?"
