Xu Wenqi was shocked that Shen Yue could find all of the original owner's information in such a short period of time. If it wasn't for the fact that her life was on the line, Xu Wenqi would've liked to applaud Shen Yue for his quick and ruthless means to get things done.
'Really worthy of being a villain,' she mused.
Rather than answering Shen Yue's questions, Xu Wenqi would've preferred to end herself right here and right now. There was no reasonable explanation as to why the original "Xu Wenqi" could have possibly known about Shen Yue's disorder.
'Hahahaha, would you believe it if I said this world is actually a book and after I fell asleep, I magically got transported into this body? Hahahaha, because same, I don't believe it either,' Xu Wenqi laughed sarcastically inside. 'If I told him this, he'll definitely send me to an asylum, or better yet, I'll just be killed immediately.'
Still waiting for her response, Shen Yue took Xu Wenqi's long silence as a sign of guilt.
Pushing her even further, he languidly asked Secretary Chen, "What happened to the last person who didn't respond to my questions? Refresh my memory, Secretary Chen. I suddenly just forgot."
Secretary Chen pushed his golden-rimmed glasses up his nose and deferentially responded, "They're no longer here sir. The last person was President Lu who committed suicide after you made his stocks fall and his company bankrupt. Currently, he is now resting peacefully in XXX's graveyard. I'm sure he's already met King Yama and is now well integrated within the realm of hell."
Xu Wenqi broke out into a cold sweat and shivered, thinking that if she didn't respond right at this moment, she would soon end up meeting President Lu in the Underworld. However, she didn't know what she could respond with. The longer Xu Wenqi stayed silent, the darker Shen Yue's face became. Xu Wenqi became more and more flustered.
Finally, Xu Wenqi blurted out the most random reason that she could think of. There was no way she could ever possibly explain herself logically, thus she resorted to using the most illogical idea that made sense: love.
She opened her mouth and said, "That- I know a lot about you because I like you!"
Xu Wenqi stared at Shen Yue in horror as if he was the one who had confessed instead.
'AHHH! It's over, you stupid pig-head! How could you confess to the devil ah?! Do you have sh*t inside your head instead of an actual brain? How can you be so dumb?!' raged Xu Wenqi internally.
If Shen Yue didn't kill her first, Xu Wenqi would certainly kill herself first.
The confession immediately turned Shen Yue's face as black as the bottom of a pot. Despite his obvious displeasure, he did not expose Xu Wenqi's lies right away. He wanted to see just what this woman would come up with to get herself out of this situation. Of course, no matter what she said or did, he wasn't going to let her off.
Shen Yue, therefore, did not play cards according to common sense and said instead, "Oh, is that so? Then prove it. Show me just how much you like me."
Xu Wenqi nearly plopped onto the ground hearing those words. She felt as though she was going insane; how in the world was she supposed to show him?
He tapped the table again and said, "I'm waiting."
Each step Xu Wenqi took to Shen Yue felt like a step closer to death; her legs were terribly heavy as if they were lead, dragging her entire body down. Xu Wenqi gritted her teeth and suddenly sat on his lap. Wrapping her slender arms around Shen Yue's waist, she plunged into Shen Yue's chest for the second time of the day. However, this time, there was no shirt to separate Xu Wenqi's face from touching Shen Yue's naked chest directly, causing her soft lips to brush his warm skin. Feeling a fleeting velvety touch on his hard chest, Shen Yue became tense and his eyes darkened. Looking up, Xu Wenqi's eyes dangerously collided with Shen Yue's heated gaze.
Before Xu Wenqi could even say something to defend herself, Shen Yue pushed her away and stood up. Xu Wenqi fell onto the side of the sofa with a thud.
He adjusted his robe, tightly closing the area of his exposed chest, and suddenly announced, "Since you like me so much, you can stay here."
Without even glancing at her, he turned and walked up the stairs in a seemingly calm manner. However, upon close examination, Shen Yue's footsteps were slightly unstable.
Hearing these words, Xu Wenqi looked like she swallowed a fly.
She wanted to cry without tears, thinking, 'Can I even reject?'
Meanwhile, in witnessing the whole situation, Secretary Chen's eyes were so large that they could not even fit his entire face. Butler Wang was no better as his mouth was lying agape. Both Secretary Chen and Butler Wang looked at each other and confirmed the same idea in their hearts; Shen Yue indeed treated Xu Wenqi differently from other women.
If Shen Yue heard about Secretary Chen and Butler Wang, he would've sneered. Naturally, Shen Yue had good reasons to let her stay. Despite his constant threats, it wasn't as easy as it seemed to murder her. Being a pampered heiress meant that her family would certainly investigate the cause of her death and with all the evidence pointing to him, his enemies definitely would not let this opportunity to bring him down slip from their hands. Additionally, with her spoiled nature, there was good reason to suspect that she was not the actual mastermind targeting him. At most, she was just being manipulated and used as a tool. Thus, it was a much better idea to force her to stay in his villa and watch her every move carefully than kill her. He didn't believe such a coddled character like her could spend a week, much less a day, in his house without contacting the person pushing the agenda behind-the-scenes. He wanted to see just exactly who was behind her. Moreover, even if she didn't expose the mastermind backing her, he had other means to force her.
Thinking in this manner, Shen Yue's face became two-points colder and bloodthirsty. As for the so-called confession of love, he was willing to play her game so long as she would obediently stay in the villa. He didn't truly believe she could keep up this lie for long. Little did Shen Yue know, he was very, very wrong.
