Chapter 39 - Sisterhood

Kayleigh's pov

After the tour around the house, we joined the men in the living room. Haley was sitting on Patrick's lap playing with his shirt while Eddie sat across him, his shoulders tensed. Katherine sat beside Patrick and started snuggling Haley, I looked around to find Emily but she wasn't anywhere near so I asked Katherine and she directed me towards the garden. I left the room and entered the garden to find Emily sitting on a swing deep in her thoughts, "Mind if I join you?" she pulled back from her thoughts and gave me a genuine smile, "Yeah, sure!" I sat on the swing right next to hers, "I am sorry about Luke, he is really dumb!" I chuckled as she continued speaking, "It's alright, he is just protective about his family. I am sure he will come around." Our eyes met and she smiled, "My brother picked a right girl, I am so glad you understand us so well." I looked down and sadness took over me, "Katherine gifted me a family necklace today and I am really scared, what if I let her hopes down someday!" I looked up to see her reaction, she seemed relaxed and happy, "I'll tell you something, you are the first girl he ever got home to meet our parents. He would have come up with some excuse if he didn't want you to meet them and trust me we couldn't be more happier that you are the mother of Eddie's child." I looked at her with shock, "How can you be so sure? I mean what if I am the wrong girl for Eddie?" She chuckled, "Jay has spoken a lot about you over family dinners and not to mention the death glares Eddie sent his way with jealousy. Mom knew that very moment that you are the one for him and look how faith got us together!" She paused for a moment her smiling vanishing and a genuine concern covering her face, "I am not sure what's going to happen between you both in future but my parents and I have already made you our family. Do you wanna know a secret?" I gave a nod with half smile, "I give paparazzi a fake show of me being wild and drunk just to get father's and Eddie's attention. It's so much fun pissing them off, they are really protective and jealous men when it comes to their family!" We both laughed heartily, "you really know how to flare their temper girl! You give a hard time to your father?" She nodded grinning, "Do you know they don't let any man near me, I have gay best friends. So when I am bored I party hard to get Eddie's attention, it's fun and I think that is the reason he owns most of the clubs in NY!" We both laughed and shared stories of how we have pissed him off so many times after some time a butler arrived informing Patrick has asked for us. We got up from the swing and hugged each other. I spoke hugging her happy tears forming in my eyes, "you are like a sister I never had!" She pulled back and wiped a single tear from her eyes, "I would call you a thief for stealing my words but I will let it slide since you gave me a cute niece. Do you wanna hang out sometime?" I nodded wiping my tears, "I would love that and may be I can secretly help you find a guy so you can trouble him instead of your brother!" She grinned ear to ear, "I would love that, my brother would be so jealous when he finds out about it." We held hands and walked in the living room talking and giggling. To say Eddie was shocked to see us together would be an understatement, Patrick also said that he already sees me as his daughter and I couldn't have been more happier but deep down I felt bad for them because I don't see myself together with Eddie for too long. At 6, after Eddie was done feeding Haley her supper and changing her in to another set of clothes, he literally dragged me out of the house claiming he has to be somewhere else but I knew he was lying because I overheard him talking over the phone that he has taken the entire week off. We left the house saying everyone our 'byes' for almost half an hour. Eddie sped off the car as soon as the gates opened, he parked the car and jogged towards me, to open my side of the door and took Haley in his arms and led me towards Rudy's diner. I looked at him surprised and held my hand, "I know how much you love Rudy's burgers so I booked the diner to ourselves for an hour!" I smiled, "So is that the reason you were rushing to leave your parents' house?" He nodded opening the door for me and I got in. The diner was dimly lit and a table in the centre with a candle glowing, they had also placed a baby chair right in middle of our chair. He pulled a chair for me still holding Haley after I sat, he placed Haley in the baby chair and settled on the seat opposite me. After few minutes a waitress came in with a bottle of wine and filled our glasses and Rudy followed her with two plates my favourite burger. We ate in silence, enjoying every bite of our burger and fries. After finishing our dinner he took Haley in his arms and led me out once we were out of the door, a lot of flashes were on our face. He grabbed me by my waist and ushered me towards the car and we heard paparazzi following us and asking Eddie questions like 'Mr. Raines who is this lady in your arms? Is she your wife? Is that child yours? Is the lady your mistress?' everything blurred out in front of me for few minutes. I was shaken out of my thoughts and I looked on my left to see it was Eddie shaking me, he had a concerned look on his face, "Kay are you okay?" I looked at him still shocked but nodded and got down the car and ran inside the house leaving them behind.
