As my mesmerisation continued my brain was getting more and more knotted, while he spoke to the girls all I could catch were words like 'single', 'date', 'nothing serious', etc. When Beth or Pat asked me something I could only manage to say yes or u-huh and they would go back to their conversation. He pulled over outside a club where I have never been to, I got down from the car and looked in other direction trying to think of something so my nerves would calm down but it didn't work. Beth grabbed my arm and dragged me inside the club, there was a long queue outside the club but we got right in. Eddie shook hands with the bouncer and talking to him about something, I guess he comes here often. Eddie directed us towards a vip table and left our side to speak with someone at the bar. I sat next to Pat, Beth was right beside her and Jay sat right opposite Beth. Patsy mumbled something in Beth's ear which made her giggle, I looked at Jay who was busy checking his phone so I looked around to observe the ambience and my eyes landed on him again. He was talking to one of the managers I guess and had a serious look on his face which only made my heartbeat faster. A server came to our table and handed us menu, I passed my menu to Beth. Jay looked up from his menu and asked us, "So what would you like to have?" I looked between Beth and Patsy while Beth replied motioning between her and patsy, "We both will have martini" and she looked at me "and what about you Kay?" I smiled glad that I can now talk without stammering "I'll have Jack Daniels on the rocks, thank you". Waiter noted our order and went to get our drinks, while I looked at Jay, "We didn't order for Eddie" he assured me, "By the time he will come back to table he will have a drink in his hand, don't worry."
I gave flashed him a half smile and we chatted for 15-20 mins with each other still no sign of Eddie and I was thankful for that. I already had chugged 2 glasses of whiskey and my nerves had soothed down. Beth and Patsy went to the dance floor while Jay looked at me, "Won't you join us?" I smiled at him embracing my drink, "thanks, but I don't feel like dancing. Don't hold back yourself for me, I'll be fine promise!" He nodded with a smile then left the table to join the girls on the dance floor. I watched them dance, I was sipping my 4th drink while a shadow covered my view, I looked up to see Eddie standing over with a smile, "Is this seat taken?" He asked gesturing towards the seat next to me where Beth sat earlier. I pretended to check the spot and then spoke to him with a smirk plastered over my face, "I don't see anyone sitting here, so yeah you can take this place!" I earned a chuckle from him while he sat down next to me and sat his drink on the table. He looked at my face observing me with an expression and sat down. He took a sip of his drink and bent little towards my ear to speak, "So I see you are not stammering anymore!" We looked at each other as we smiled ear to ear and then I nodded sheepishly. He looked at the empty glasses on the table, "So I take it the scotch works." I giggled "Yes, it did help a little." He grabbed my glass, drank a sip and nodded putting the glass back, "Wow, A woman of fine taste." I shrugged and tried to start a conversation, "so Eddie, tell me something about you?" He looked in my eyes with a mischievous smile and tucked in a few strands of my hair behind my ear, "Tell me what would you like to know about me and I'll be honest with you." My words were caught in my throat with his face inches close to me. A shiver ran down my spine while I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Just then Beth, Jay and Patsy came back to table and sat around us, helping me divert from what just happened. Eddie composed himself like nothing happened few seconds ago while Patsy spoke in excitement, "Kay why don't you accompany Jay to the bar we need a refill." I nodded and followed Jay to the bar while he spoke casually, "Do you know Beth and Patsy are trying to set us up?" I rolled my eyes, "why does that not surprise me!" he chuckled "So how many times has it happened to you?" I replied, "Will it surprise you if I say 8?" he chuckled and shook his head, "my count is 17" We laughed and leaned towards the bar, I asked him in a genuine voice "so how many of the dates actually worked?" he took the last sip of his drink "only one, I can't say them anything because they genuinely care for me." I nodded in agreement, "Me too!" I looked at him "So are you looking for anything serious?" he shook his head, "I don't think I am interested in a relationship right now." I nodded in agreement and ordered our drinks along with 3 shots of tequila on the go. Jay watched me in amusement as I gulped all the three glasses of tequila. I asked him, "why don't you join the guys I'll be there in a few minutes!" He nodded with a smile and left while I went straight to the dance floor and tuned in to the song, after few songs I felt a hand wrapped around me. I turned to see Eddie holding me gently his eyes held the same look like earlier so I exclaimed, "yes, dance with me!" We danced while Jay, Beth and a stranger with his arm wrapped around Pat joined us. I excused myself and went to the washroom to throw up, Eddie followed me to the washroom "Kayleigh are you okay?" I nodded facing the sink "I thought I wanted to throw up but I guess I can't!" He walked over to me with intensity, I turned to face him while I leaned on the sink feeling tipsy and hot. Before I knew he grabbed hold of my waist and kissed me passionately. I was too drunk to react so I just kept kissing him back while he grabbed me and sat me down on the sink trailing warm kisses on my neck and shoulder. He stopped when we heard a glass shattering on the floor and looked in the direction where a model like woman stood, her face wide open in shock. He opened his mouth to talk but no words came out and the woman left the washroom without a word and Eddie followed her out calling her name. I sat there shocked, unable to process what just happened. I jumped down and splashed water on my face. Once I was composed, I walked towards our table where Jay, Beth and Patsy sat. They stopped laughing when I sat on the table and Beth asked me in concern, "Where were you? We were looking all over for you?" I answered her, "I was in the washroom freshening up." Jay's phone went off so picked up his phone to check the message and looked at us with worry, "Guys I am afraid I have to leave, can I drop you off somewhere?" I answered before Patsy can decline his offer, "Actually can you drop us home? It's way past midnight and I think we should get home." He nodded slipping a 100 dollar bill and lead us out.
