"Welcome back to The Legend of Dark Fate, Little Devil" The words were displayed on a screen in front of Player One, and his black eyes were fixated on the screen. He knew that the following instruction would be more important. After all, it wasn't the first time, that the player was in this game.
"You have landed in the dense forest. The exact location would still remain unknown to you. Please check your hand for the weapon you have received"
"A stone? Are you really kidding me?" Player One wanted to curse but refrained from it. The rules of the game were still unknown to him. Hell, he knew that no one playing the game would be fully aware of them either. So he wanted to continue following the same pattern he had. Taking a quick glance at his avatar, he was pleased this time. It was human. A human having no armor, but still human. He quickly checked his reflexes, rotated his hands, legs, and hips, and was glad that nothing was broken this time. Before he could take a look at the surrounding, he saw another screen.
"Your teammate is going to join you in

"Noooooooooo." Player One screamed looking at his teammate. If the Avatar was more technically developed, rolling eyes would have been the best option.
"Damm, I am really stuck with you for a lifetime, Aren't I ?" The new teammate who had joined was about to growl when he noticed that his new avatar wasn't able to do it.
"Pick a different timing next time, idiot" Player One had already started to move forward trying to completely ignore his teammate.
"It's Demon by the way. Why does your name say, Little devil? The last username was much better. Or Is this because you are too small?" Even while talking, Player Two's ears were pricked for any kind of sound around them.
They had done it many times before. It was like a routine now, looking out for any sort of danger, and always being prepared for the worst.
*The Legend of the Dark Fate was a secret game. No one knew who developed it, where it came from. One day few of the gamers, received a mail about a strange game. Playing the game needed both knowledge and skills. The chosen ones were the players who completed the tasks that were given to them. It unlocked the first level for The Legend of the Dark Fate.
On logging in to the game, the player would get a new avatar every time, a new weapon, and a new location. Each player was supposed to have a teammate who will accompany the player in defeating their enemy at every level.
The teammate would be random, based on who logs in at the same time. With each level, the weapon would get much efficient according to the level, but for the low levels, it could be anything random.
After crossing certain levels, the players would start to get more hints about the game*
This time it was a dense forest, which was barely lit. Player Two noticed that the path below them was rough and full of wildlife. It meant one thing - no one has crossed this path before. They really could be ahead of other players.
*Another thing about the game was that it could only be played once a day, so no one could play for more chances and move ahead of others.*
"Arghh, my legs hurt now" Player One complained after walking for half an hour while looking around the current location, there seemed to be no traces of any movement.
"How could your legs hurt? We are in the game." Player Two cursed again under his breath, not able to growl.
"The game should feel real. Till they don't add this feature, I am gonna pretend that I actually walked" Player One looked towards his teammate, hoping he would laugh, but all he saw was a look of annoyance. The avatars were not fully developed but they could still show some of the emotions of the humans playing them.
"I wish, next time it would be some other brat. I am just..." Before Player Two could complete his sentence, Player One raised his hand in the air.
It was their code, a personal code to be used when someone was around them.
The demon had always been the one who was good at fighting skills.
The players were allowed to keep one of their real physical features as part of their Avatar. No one would know about it except for them.
Demon has chosen his eyes. The color of the ocean, deep blue, which sometimes changes to green. Those eyes, which were able to see through the dark and has helped him fairly often.
Little Devil had also chosen eyes, big brownish-black eyes, which could see through everything and were able to read people.
"What do you see?" Player One whispered, the Avatar frozen on its position, indecisive if he should move or not.
"Red glowing eyes, long tail, sitting on the branch just...just above you" Demon's voice lacked emotion and it was good for the game. It was good if they don't feel any emotion. Player One's decision to not move was correct.
His eyes were on Demon, who slowly slid his right foot behind, getting into a position of attack. Little Devil's gaze landed on Demon's hand, who was holding a wooden stick. The wheels in his head had already started turning.
*Sticks and stones and blazing flowers. Malum simia, fears the strong desire.* Player One recited a small poem in his head, while his gaze was still on Demon.
"It's Malum simia" Little Devil knew if they didn't act quick, the red-eye monkey would tear up their avatar and split it in half.
The sudden sound of the rustling of leaves and cracking of the branch above them made them jumpy. Malum simia was on his way to hunt.
"Take this and lit the stick" throwing the two stones, Player One's heartbeat rose and he cursed himself for making such a foolish mistake. *How will Demon catch them at once.* But it was his mind that knew, Demon was efficient.
He quickly jumped on his feet catching both the stones and lighting the stick. Malum simia stood in front of him, about to attack when the fire lit, making the evil monkey burn to ashes.
"How did you even…" the words were cut short from Demon's mouth when another popped up screen interrupted them.
*Level completed successfully. You both would be thrown out now*
