Chereads / Training Is The Only Option / Chapter 2 - Survive the Invasion

Chapter 2 - Survive the Invasion

Gnayolia: A forest-covered planet ranked fourth of the five planets within the Fishbowl System located diagonally from planet Earth. It also consists of monsters that are Mortal type level with a rare few that are Earth type.

....

'Survive this hoard of monsters by training huh? He, how is this situation better than what I was in before?

Though, the upside is that this mysterious window that appeared above my head just before saving me seems to be far greater than or equal to the other one'

Aimer thought as he held his head in his right palm leaving a little space between his fingers to stalk the incoming monsters.

And although he stood there, his character was different. Any human who was alone would falter at the sight of such an enormous group of monsters.

Maybe it was his near-death experience or it was his newly attained skill but he was calm, collected, and emotionless.

Skill [Adapt] has been activated!

Aimer activated this skill just before the first monster struck at him.

The monster was known as a Ghoul and it swung its massive claws at Aimer who quickly maneuvered to his right. But he was then met with a Goblin about half his height that was equipped with a sharp knife.

The Goblin struck at Aimer but its hand that held the dagger was caught before Aimer sends a massive blow to it.

*SCREEECH*

The Goblin wailed before backing off leaving its dagger on the floor next to Aimer. Aimer smiled before picking up the dagger up.

'It's not as good as I reckoned but it should be decent enough. Alas, I was provided a second chance at life. If I must train to survive then that I shall' Aimer thought with a look of confidence and determination as he shifted his gaze at the hoard with his blood-red eyes.

In a swift movement, Aimer charged at the Goblin before chopping its throat.

*SLASH*

The Goblin was suddenly hit with a deadly wound. Without a second thought, Aimer spun right towards the Ghoul simultaneously while dodging its raid he drove the dagger into the Ghoul's heart.

*HYUKK*

The Ghoul shrieked as it slowly perished on the dagger.

'It's a good thing that these monsters are only Mortal type and not over level fifty as myself or else I would've had a next guess coming' Aimer thought before he knelt towards the ghoul's body.

For a brief moment, the monsters were bewildered at the sight of the human who killed their fellow monsters with ease. They spectated Aimer closely as he scurried through the Ghoul's carcass.

Aimer soon found two items.

[Ring of Iblīs, The Prince of Darkness] - Rare

Strength +40

Speed +57

Agility +33

Description: The user can control or brainwash all and every ghoul as long as the user's level is above theirs.

'Hmm...this ghoul must've been pretty close to the Prince of Darkness for it to have his ring. It is said that the ghouls are spirits and their the offsprings from the Prince of Dark, Iblīs who's name personally means the devil. Anyways, it's a good item' Aimer thought as he moved onto the next item.

[Iblīs, Blade of the Fallen] - Unique

Attack [299]

Agility +50

Description: The wielder can set fire to whatever is struck with this one-handed blade.

'Another unexpected item from this simple ghoul. Even so, I don't think I need to rely on this right now' Aimer thought as he placed the gold ring on his left middle finger. For a second he thought of where to put the blade when the mysterious window notified him.

*DING*

"Does the user wish to keep the blade in the "inventory?"

'Huh? Inventory? What is this window? Is it watching me? No, I don't have the time to think of that right now' Aimer thought before he said "yes."

The blade soon vanished into mid-air as if it never existed in the first place. Giving it little attention Aimer brought out the Goblins dagger now focused on the mob of monsters.

"So you guys were just standing there watching me? How kind of you! Well, here I am ready to go!" Aimer said towards the monsters calmly.

Skills: [Adapt]

Items: [Goblins Dagger], [Ring of Iblīs, The Prince of Darkness] - Rare, [Iblīs, Blade of the Fallen] - Unique

'Good. With my speed, strength, and agility I should be able to handle this much' Aimer thought as he charged at the incoming mob.

The monsters before him were Ghouls, Jackalopes, Goblins, Banshees, Imps, Dark-Elf's, and Kobolds.

As Aimer approached the monsters on the front line three attacked him. Two goblins on his left and right and a Kobold in the middle. The Kobold attack with its ax and Aimer dodged left simultaneously driving his dagger into the goblin in that direction.

He quickly shoved the Goblin off his dagger then instantly attacks the Kobold, striking it directly within its heart. Soon after around five beasts surrounded him.

Thinking quick on his feet before they all attacked, Aimer picked up the dead Goblin by his feet and threw it up in the air.

'Good, you all have a short attention span' Aimer thought with a slight smile.

*SLASH*

*SLASH*

"SCREECHH"

In another swift and deadly movement Aimer leaped at the monsters and slashed all five of them by their throat. But as soon as he landed an ear-shattering scream ring within his ears.

"ARGHHH!"

Aimer held his ears tightly as he found it difficult to locate the direction from where the scream came. Soon enough he figured out it was the cry of a Banshee.

Before six other monsters could circulate themselves around Aimer, he stood his ground before throwing the dagger at breakneck speed towards the Banshee.

*BAM*

"HYUKK"

The dagger connected with the back of the Banshees throat. After that, the monsters around Aimer charged in at him.

'Dammit! This is harder than I thought it would be' Aimer thought with a disturbed expression. And though he yearned to weird the Fallen Blade he craved to use his strength.

Skill [Adapt] has been activated!

Aimer activated his skill again and adapted to the battle scene. Using his bare knuckles and feet he fought off the monsters one by one. It was a good thing his stamina was high enough for him to endure.

Aimer had already killed the six monsters around him and charged at the others. He then slaughtered 2 Kobolds, 5 Imps, 8 Jackalopes, 1 Banshee, 2 Dark-Elf's, and 12 Goblins. As for Ghouls, there were no more other than the one he killed in the beginning.

As Aimer relinquished himself in the slaughter and contest of strength and stamina he was interrupted but by something good.

[You've Level up!]

The moment the notification flashed before Aimer's his blood boiled as a crazed smile appeared across his face.

When was the last time he'd gotten that notification? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? Heck! Forever? This sparked a motivating within Aimer as he massacred the monsters one by one.

He punched through their hearts, lungs, kidneys, bones, and face as if it was nothing. Well, he only managed this much because his level was already on par with the monsters and he was now leveling up.

[You've Level up!] x3

[You've Level up!] x5

[You've Level up!] x4

[You've Level up!] x7

[You've Level up!] x12

[You've Level up!] x1

[You've Level up!] x8

Back to back to back, the notifications kept popping up within Aimers view as he wholeheartedly did the one thing the window left him to do. [TRAIN] and stop the invasion.

.....

About three hours had passed and Aimer could be seen collapsed next to a pile of two hundred and forty-seven dead monsters that formed somewhat of a giant hill.

[You've Level up!] x10

[You've Level up!] x1

[You've Level up!] x14

The last of the notifications flashed across Aimer's eyes but from the second window.

*DING*

"Congratulations! User has successfully stopped the invasion"

'Hmm....requirements not met? I wonder how long it will take before they are. But as for the last skill....what is that? Let's just check my "Status Window" Aimer thought before doing exactly so.

"Status Window"

'Oho, I've managed to rise about sixty-five levels up and my stats by about fifty, not bad. But why do I have the feeling it's going to get much harder from here? Anyways that's for later, I should check what this new skill does' Aimer thought before proceeding to do so.

[Empathy] - the user gains the ability to manipulate how the target feels toward them. Fear, love, anger, hatred, kind all emotional feelings. It is also effective on monsters. The higher the user's level the more dangerous his control of this skill.

'Now we're talking! This could become quite useful if I am to make it back to my planet' Aimer thought just before his smile elongated to either side of his cheeks.

"On the other hand, I still have some things to take care of," Aimer muttered as he slowly got up from his sitting position.

He paced around while sovereign the area filled with multiple dead monsters.

He proceeded to accumulated all the drop items and monster cores. The only thing missing was drop skills. But it was reasonable that there were none since his luck was still far too low.

Of all the items he accumulated he placed them out before contemplating which were the most valuable to keep.

[Cloak of Drakel's] (Rare)

'Hmm...looking at the items there quite astonishing. Though it's the first time seeing a potion that boosts the user's courage. No wonder the goblins kept attacking even after witnessing so many of their fellows died.

The most useful from my perspective is the cloak, the wear set, and Lippu's crystal' Aimer thought while holding his chin looking down at the items.

'But I never realized I killed a gnome, haha I must've been too distracted. Nevertheless, I should take all of them, no matter how big or how small the reward it's still a reward right? And who am I to pick and choose when a few moments ago I could've already been dead' Aimer thought as he slowly picked up all the items.

He wore Sorono's Wear Set just before he placed the other items including the two hundred and forty-seven monster cores within his inventory. Aimer then proceeds to check his stats.

He was soon intruded by the second window.

*DING*

"Are you ready for your training task?"

'Wait! Training task! Already! What about absorbing those monster cores!? I knew there was something fi....'

Before Aimer could finish his thoughts he was warped away by the window.
