After treating Amber's injuries they sat there for a while and began to think of ideas on how Silver can both work and take care of Amber. The man behind the counter stared at them and asked "Why don't you enroll her into a daycare." Silver stared at him and said, "That could be a good way to go about things, except I'm not exactly sure how to go about that kind of stuff."
The man nodded and said, "Yeah I figured as much." Silver began to tap on the counter with his fingers as he said "Besides I'd have to look into the daycare to see if there's anything wrong and then I'd have to take price into consideration." Amber stared at Silver for a few moments and listened to him ramble on for a few minutes before saying "What if I just stayed here."
Silver stared at her and said, "I don't think the others would be too fond of that idea." Amber glanced around at all the people who were staring at her as she nervously said "I-I should be fine." Silver glanced around and said, "Even though this is considered neutral ground it means nothing unless you actually work within the black market."
The man behind the counter nodded and said "He has a point, if you don't work here then these people will see you as free cash and take advantage of you with every chance they get." The man glanced at Silver and said "Some of us learned that through experience."
Silver smiled and said, "Well even though I felt for it in the beginning I did get back at them." The man nodded and said, "The looks on their faces were priceless, however, you had another run-in with them not long after and that's when we all decided to call you the white-haired reaper."
Silver nodded and said, "Yeah but let's get back to the problem at hand." The man nodded and said, "Well if it is a daycare then it's not much of an issue." Silver stared at him and said, "Wait seriously?" The man nodded and said, "Well my wife owns a daycare and it shouldn't be too much trouble to get her enrolled there."
The man stood there for a moment and said "This daycare costs around forty dollars per week and it's probably one of the better ones in this area." Silver smiled and said, "In that case, I'd like to enroll Amber." The man glanced at Amber and said "Well there's a bit of an issue."
Silver stared at Amber and asked, "What do you mean?" The man pointed at Silver and said "Well knowing you, you don't have any of the papers that prove she's yours, and without those papers, I can't help you enroll her legally." Silver stared at him and asked, "Does that mean you can do it or not?" The man nodded and said, "Of course I can, but shouldn't you actually be asking how to get custody over her so you can do this legally."
Silver nodded and said, "Yeah, I guess I should." The man stared at Amber and said "Well I'll look into it, for now, I suppose she can stay at the daycare without enrolling." Silver thanked him and said, "I really owe you one for this." The man stared at him and said "It's not every day someone gets a favor from the white-haired reaper."
Silver stared at him and asked, "So how many more times am I gonna have to tell you to drop my work name and to just call me Silver?" The man shrugged and said, "Only time will tell." As Silver sat there he felt a tug on his sleeve. As he glanced over he saw Amber blushing as she whispered "I have to go to the bathroom."
Silver stared at her for a moment and stood up as he said "It's down the hall on the left, I'll come with you just in case." Amber shook her head and said, "I'll do it myself." Silver stood there for a few seconds before sitting back down as he said "Alright then, I'll wait here for you."
Amber hopped off of the chair and began to walk towards the bathroom past all of the people who had been staring at her since she walked in. As she reached the bathroom she looked around nervously and opened it as she said "I'll just go quickly so I'm not a nuisance to Silver." After around a minute Amber walked back out of the bathroom and seen a man standing there menacingly.
Amber stared at him in fear as she murmured "I-I'm sorry if I took too long." The man stared at her and smiled as he said "A kid could go for a decent price on the black market." As he grabbed Amber's arm he felt a hand on his shoulder and a voice say "Don't lay a hand on her." The man glanced at the voice and seen Silver standing there as he asked "And what are you gonna do if I do decide to do as I please with her."
Silver let go of the man's shoulder and punched him in the face knocking him into a wall and forcing him to let go of Amber's arm. The man held his face with his hand and asked "Are you stupid fighting in a place that's neutral ground?" Silver glared at him and said, "Neutral ground or not I won't let you lay a hand on her." As the man removed his hand from his face his nose began to bleed almost instantly as he said "Doing things like this is gonna get you killed."
Silver began to walk towards him as he said "If I do get killed at least I'll die knowing I did nothing I'll regret." Amber stared at Silver and said, "If it's gonna get you in trouble just stop." Silver pushed the man aside and knelt down to Amber as he said "Even if I get into trouble they won't bother giving me too much of a severe punishment, since I am the one who does most of their ridiculous assignments."
Amber stared at him and said, "But if it's gonna get you in trouble you should just let him do whatever he wants to me, I'll be fine, I'm used to most things like this by now." Silver stared at her for a few moments said "That's a terrible thing to hear from a kid." Silver glanced back at the man and said "You can give the others a warning when you go back, I think you should say something along the lines of don't try anything to the little girl that the white-haired reaper is taking care of."
The man took a few steps back and said "You must be suicidal to say something like that." Silver glanced back at Amber and said "Well I figured I'd give them a verbal warning before making a physical one." As Silver stood up he picked Amber up and said "Good news, looks like you're gonna be going to Jax's wife's daycare."
Amber stared at him for a moment and asked "Who's Jax?" Silver stared at her for a moment and said "Oh right I didn't tell you, that strong-looking bald guy's name is Jax." Amber stared at him and said, "You mean the man behind the counter." Silver nodded and said, "Yeah that's him." Amber stared at him and asked, "Is a daycare scary?"
As the man behind Silver reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife Silver shook his head and said "Daycares aren't scary at all." As the man swung a knife down at Silver he quickly moved to the side while moving Amber away as he asked "What are you doing?" The man stared at him and said "I'm not gonna let you make a fool outta me."
Silver glanced at Amber and then stared at him as he said "I'd rather not kill anyone in front of her, so why don't you back down so you don't spend the next week or so in the infirmary?" The man swung the knife at him and shouted "Shut your damn mouth, I don't give a shit what your status is in here, I'll kill you if you try to order me around."
Silver dodged the knife and quickly got behind the man and began to suffocate him as he knocked the knife from his hand and said "It's time to go to sleep, so just shut your eyes and make this easier for me." Silver stared at Amber and said "Sorry you have to see this" as the man began to slowly stop moving he lost consciousness.
Amber stared at him and nervously said "Y-you don't have to worry, you did it for my sake after all." Silver left him on the ground as he asked "So do you wanna check out that daycare?" Amber nodded without saying anything as Silver picked her up and said "Jax's already told me where it is so we should be able to find it pretty easily."
