The dense fog obscured the view of any ship in the immediate area, this would bode well for Captain Longshank Jones. For today he was out looking for a treasure worth more than gold.
A shipment of magical crystals was being transported by a frigate to Bathbay.
Captain Jones looked through the spyglass and spotted his target, far off in the thick fog.
"Thar she is lads! The ship we're looking for.'" Jones shouted,
One of his lowly crew members stumbled over to him to ask
"Captain! How are you so sure that's the ship?"
"It's the Marionette, I can see the engravings below her Quarterdeck." Jones answered
"But how do we know that's the ship carrying the Crystals? How did you find out about this?"
"A friend of mine is a corrupt magistrate on Muso Island, he told me about this shipment on the condition I'll give him a cut of the profits."
"Oh okay"
"Enough talk boyo, it's time for action."
Longshanks' ship, a brig named Hellspitter, had twenty five guns in total and began to sail towards their target. The Hellspitter gently rode over the waves, slicing through the fog quietly, not causing any alarm to the crew of the Marionette. They were in pursuit if the ship for nearly thirty minutes, silently stalking their prey when one of the men on the hostile ships crows nest shouted
"Pirate ship, off the stern Captain!" Shouted the man.
The crew of the Marionette scurried like ants to get to their battle positions, the Marionette's men gathered around the chaser cannon on the stern, instantly the cannon roared, unleashing hell, sending balls of red hot lead flying towards the Hellspitter.
The crew of the Hellspitter ran for their lives as the cannon barrage pounded the bow of their ship.
Longshank, standing at the helm raised his sword and shouted,
"Fire the chasers!"
The men then returned to the front of their ship and ignited the fuses on the chaser cannon. The chaser cannon on the bow of the Hellspitter roared, as they returned fire. The back of the Marionette was struck multiple times, damaging the engraving just below the stern.
The captain of the Marionette ordered the helmsman of the ship to turn the ship Portside.
"Turn her Portside lads! Meet her with the broadsides!" Captain Jones shouted, preparing for a full on battle with the Marionette.
Both ships were soon side by side, the cannon of both the ships were concentrated hard on the hull of the other.
"Send them to Achelete boys!" Shouted Longshanks
The cannon of the Hellspitter sent out a violent volley, the Hellspitter ferociously rocked back and forth from the intense power of the attack.
The cannonballs easily punched through the wooden hull of the Marionette and flew into the ships innards maiming many of its crew.
The frigate returned fire, the Hellspitter was showered in hot metal balls, slicing through its crew and puncturing its hull.
The Smaller ship then fired again, the Marionette rocked from the second volley, the hot lead balls soared through the ships fragile walls and into several crewmembers of the ship splattering them.
The Hellspitter was then devastated by another hell shower. A cannonball glided through the air, passing just over Longshanks head. Hellspitter once again fired a volley into the exposed guts of its enemy, this time Longshank and his crew would score a major hit. One of their cannonballs managed to hit the Marionettes magazine igniting, giving birth to a raging fireball that engulfed the stern of the ship. The back of the ship was blown into a billion tiny flaming splinters. A wave of salt water forced its way into the remains of the Marionette causing it to capsize and slowly sink below the waves with the crystals onboard.
Captain Lonshanks stood over the a
sterns starboard side shouting
"No! My treasure."
Much to his surprise one of his crew men swandived off the ship and plunged beneath the waves to retrieve the lost goods.
He was gone for less than a minute before he reemerged and came back onto the ship with the chest of crystals in his arms.
The crew of the ship cheered as the young man opened the box revealing a chest full of light blue and purple crystals with a magical aura around them.
"We'll be rich!" Longshank shouted consumed with glee.
"But first we'll have to give that magistrate a cut." Coughed the young sailor who just emerged from the depths.
"Right, full sail towards Muso!" Longshank shouted
The ship then sailed out of the fog and into the sunset towards Muso.
