Chereads / Lazarus / Chapter 19 - Where it began

Chapter 19 - Where it began

The light peaking outside of the cave obstructed her view, she found it hard to open her eyes nor stand up but this time it was not because of a spell casted on her but the fact that she was physically drained.

She looked at herself, her skin looked fresh.

There was no trace of self harm nor lack of nutrients. It felt like she had worn her a pair of new skin to hide how hideous and frail she looked but she knew that no form of skin could cover the psychological trauma she would face in the future.

But that was the strange thing about everything.

Charlotte didn't seen startled nor sacred. She didn't shudder in freight but in curiosity. She tried another attempt to stand up but she failed drastically.

So she laid there staring at the walls of the cave. There where words written on them but she had no clue on how to read nor translate it but something caught her eyes.

The word LAZARUS was written with blood and the blood somehow connected three locations together. The three locations was still unreadable and somehow she felt afraid for what to come.

She knew she had to leave and find someone. But WHO?

Who would believe her without sending her to an asylum she thought to herself until it dawned on her.

JAMES.

He would believe me. AlI i have to do is to somehow find a way to reach him. So she tried getting up again but she couldn't.

The routine continued until her twelfth try. Her legs felt like jelly that she had to pick up a stick sitting beside the wall of the cave to support herself.

When she was finally outside a loud gasp escaped her mouth.

She was at the very top of a cliff which had a thin road down. If she took the road there was zero to no chance she wouldn't fall. So she hurriedly went back inside the cave to hide.

That was when she noticed the burger, fries and coke from subway at the far end of the cave.

She didn't care if it had been poisoned or not. She was hungry and in the need of food so she picked it up.

Though it had turned cold it still looked fresh like it was bought yesterday or so but she didn't care. She devoured the food like a savage animal putting the taste at the back of her mind as she ate. When she was finally done she felt full but nevertheless still weak.

She couldn't bring herself to sleep in her condition so she took the initiative to look closely at the words written in the wall.

They confuses her immensely but somehow they looked so..... so familiar. She tried reading it for over three hours but had no clue on what she was staring at.

Charlotte didn't know when she fell asleep but she did and only realized that she was dreaming when she saw the scene in front of her.

She saw herself for the hundredth time, dead in the arms of James who was crying and blaming himself, the scene e wasn't new to her instead she was rather used to it.

She walked closer to the scene but before she could get any closer a hand pulled her out of the scene by her neck and she was dragged into the next.

But what she saw wasn't like the other dreams. Instead she saw herself in a room, the room was dark and void, lifeless without a single soul or so she thought.

No sense of life was present here. She could hear the echo oh her agitated footsteps.

Hello.. She called out.

Is anybody there, she yelled but the only reply she got was the echo of her own voice. Panic took over her, was she trapped in here again? was the spirit in her body again? all those questions ran through her mind and she didn't know what to think anymore.

The panic that was building up finally broke through and an intense panic attack started. She started hyperventilating, her hands where shaking whilst her lungs gave up as she fell to the ground.

She stayed there waiting for death to finally take her but it didn't come instead it felt like this place was trying to calm her down and it worked dramatically. Her breath came back to normal and her hands felt numb from the shaking earlier.

She laid there without no sleep because it was unheard of to sleep when sleeping and the lack of sleep in her eyes confirmed her logic.

For the first time in a while she felt lonely and lost. She felt like her body was slowly dying and she didn't know what to do.

She sat there void without no emotions on her face nor her mind. She was dead inside but the mere thought of James or Mira made the girl without no hope and care about this world smile.

She was lost but somehow she knew only those two could find her rouge soul.

She laid there void from emotions but somehow she found herself crying. She cried her eyes out but no words nor whimper left her mouth.

She wanted to scream and yell at everything and everyone but she didn't have any strength to waste. She felt like in this dark lifeless place was a replica of herself and her emotions.

This feeling was known to her not because of this current incident. It has been in her life every since that day.

She wasn't suppose to be alive, she knew somehow she cheated nature and one day nature will come for what was given to her.

Every since that day she had being lifeless and void within. She was deep in thoughts when she noticed someone was staring at her, watching her every step and move.

Who's there, she tried to sound brave but failed drastically.

Show yourself, she said to the strange figure but when the figure finally showed there face she wished she didn't. The figure looked like her....her true self.

She looked tattered, skinny and way... older. The signs of self harm was prominent on her body and the look in her face told her that who ever this person is had little to no time left.

Who are you? Charlotte asks the woman.

Who am I? the figure repeated the question looking at Charlotte with an amused looked on her face.

Seleucia I thought you have already guessed that because of how I looked. Even though I look, she looked at herself and grimaced in disgust, like.....like this you can still recognise me, the figure said to her.

For now your questions are irrelevant, Seleucia. We have far more important things to do.

We have to go back to where it all began. Why all these happened to you and why you're here.

She walked closer to me and I backed away from her in fear of what to come.

Don't be afraid I wouldn't harm you, I want to help you so that you don't end up like me she motioned to herself.

How do I trust you? I asked her and she smiled.

The smile on her face grew as she walked toward me and whispered in my ears.

That's the thing Seli, you don't and with that I blacked out.
