Chapter 1 - The Abyss

A flurry of color's reached into his mind. It grabbed him, and he felt forced to grab back. The vastness of nothingness held onto his heart and pulled. He felt his soul lean forward and look upon what was beyond here. Nothing.

He opened his eyes and went to gasp loudly. No sound left his mouth. He started to realize that he was inside a liquid, a green liquid. Instinctively he lashed out and threw his limbs out causing something to open. All of a sudden the liquid forced his body forward and flew forward. The water quickly left his ears and he heard a thunk of a plastic like substance hit the floor as he fell to the floor onto hit. He gasped loudly trying to catch his breath.

"Ding. Process unfi... esophagus mi... limb mis... Ding." A robotic female voice repeated.

The man was hazy, he had no idea what was going on. His vision was blurry and he didn't feel like he was even in his own body. As he took a deep breath he opened an eye and realized that lights were flashing red with the sounds of a blaring alarm. Accompany these with the voice that kept on repeating itself, and you would see he was left in no situation to recover.

He began to try to get up. He put an arm on the ground and began to place his other one down, preparing to get up. Rather than his left hand touching the floor, his body lost balance and fell over. Why did he fall? He looked over at his arm. His eyes dilated as the image came to him. The sound of dripping became clearer in his mind. He had no arm. It looked as if a huge bite had been taking out of it, though it lacked the blood of an attack. He wanted to scream but it escaped him, only a yelp coming from his mouth.

Could there be a worse situation he wondered. It didn't matter, he had to figure out what was going on. This time only using one arm he managed to get up. He looked around as his hazy vision was recovering. He first needed to turn off this alarm, it wasn't helping his recovery.

A shining light caught his eye, a blue glow that contrasted against the res flashing lights. He quickly limped over to it. He reached out his arm. It was in english, thank his luck. On the screen was a button that said 'End Emergency'. At least it was simple. He pressed it and the alarm and lights suddenly stopped. He would have sighed, but he had to save his breath, there was still his wound. He scanned the room and noticed a table with strange, futuristic drawers under it. He limped over and opened them. After some searching he found some adhesive bandages. Without thinking twice he grabbed it. He used his teeth to hold one end as he wrapped it around the wound, ignoring the pain of the arm. he then used his teeth to cut it after a few tries. He dropped the adhesive and finally took a deep breath.

Suddenly the voice spoke again, startling him.

"Please head to the captains station for briefing." The voice said in its robotic feminine voice.

The man looked up and noticed blue lights flashing, likely leading to the captains station. He sighed once more. What the hell is going on? He thought.

He made his way through what he assumed was a ship. He wasn't sure though, since it felt way too stable to be in water. Whatever it was, he had to find out. He limped his way across the right wall, using his arm to hold himself up. He observed the ship and noticed that it had a futuristic vibe to it. There were lights in thin streaks in the floors and walls that gave the halls dim lights. It was a short hall, giving him the assumption of a small ship. As he finally entered the captains station he noticed a singular chair and several buttons and mechanism surrounding it that he had never even heard about. Was this new technology? What kind of person would leave him here?

He slowly sat in the chair. It was neither comfortable nor uncomfortable. As he relaxed he was then again jolted tensely as he heard the voice speak loudly.

"Opening viewing gates. Time since last active, uncertain 500 relative years. Complications, passenger reconstruction incomplete..." The voice said.

The man drowned all that noise out. His mind made him do so. For what was left in front of him was beyond what he could have imagined. The 'viewing gates' had been lifted and he was now left only with himself and what was shown to him. The abyss. He was lost in space.
