Chapter 1 - The Other Path To Power

This is a AU story Naruto FanFiction.Net story where Sasuke stays in the hidden leaf village.

The Uchiha boy woke with a start after the fight, wondering where he was. He soon realized that he couldn't his chest up, or any of his limbs, as he was bound to the hospital bed.
'Great, little idiot just had to make me use so much of my chakra!' Sasuke said to himself as he started to move his eyes from the ceiling to around the room. The hospital room wasn't your average Konoha hospital room. Sasuke took note of the single door and otherwise bland room, with one dresser, and a big glass window which seemed to be like a mirror to Sasuke, but to the unknowing Sasuke, was a two way mirror in which the people looking in were all the ninja from his generation. Naruto, Sakura, Ino, Shikamaru, Choji, Hinata, Kiba, Lee, Shino, Tenten, and Deji all looked at the troubled and extremely powerful young ninja with questioning glances. Even Jariya and Tsunade found the time to come down and see the last Uchiha, interested by to find out the motives of the kid in why he would even think of leaving and going to Orochimaru. Just then Sasuke found Kakashi in the room with him, in a corner reading Makeout Paradise. Sasuke just sighed and shut his eyes as he saw him. They stayed in silence for a minute, the only sound is the shifting of pages from Kakashi.
"I suppose your going to give me another one of your lectures, right Kakashi-Sensai?" Sasuke asked, wanting to get out of this room as soon as possible. Kakashi finally shut his book, looking back at Sasuke.
"No I'm not. What I'm going to do is ask why you would want to go to the likes of Orochimaru for a search of power. Does getting your revenge made that much to you?" Kakashi asked, scooting his chair a little closer to Sasuke's bed.
"Yes it does." Sasuke just said, getting a heavy sigh from Jiraiya and Tsunade.
"What about Sakura and Naruto? What about there bonds with you?" Kakashi continued asking.
"I don't want to hurt them, in all honesty. But if they get in the way..." Sasuke said, getting shocked eyes from everyone of his unknown lookers. It shouldn't be such a shock, but Sasuke is famously uncaring of the feelings of the people around him, so this revelation of feelings is quite the shock. Kakashi sat back in his chair with raised eyebrows.
"So tell me how they managed to convince you into leaving?" Kakashi asked.
"They promised me power. Which is something I'm definitely lacking." Sasuke answered.
"What do you mean?" Kakashi pressed forward.
"In our last mission, Naruto was the one who finished off that assassin who was trying to kill the runner. He managed to end him, while I could only make a crack in his weapon. In our fight on this roof, he broke that water tower completely. Hell, me being here is a reason to search for more power." Sasuke finished.
"So, are you jealous of Naruto?" Kakashi asked.
"I guess. He gaining so much strength in such a short amount of time, and I feel like I'm just sitting back and watching him." Sasuke answered. Naruto got a confident grin on him for a second, before it flew off him in realization of inevitable guilt as he saw he was a pushing factor of Sasuke trying to leave.
"Well, we do you pay any attention to him? He isn't apart of your goal." Kakashi offered.
"How can I not? He is always there annoying my ass off." Sasuke said with a roll of his eyes.
"I guess you have a point. But what I want to know is about that night all those years ago. You said that there is no way I can relate to you. So if you tell me about it, maybe we can find some middle ground." Kakashi stated, all ready prepared for the glare and the tension filled silence that he got. It was about another cool two minutes before Sasuke responded.
"Fine." He spoke, making everyone in the other room lean there heads forward, prepared to focus on every word of the last Uchiha.
"I was 7. I was running late from the academy, as night had all ready fallen. I hastily rushed in the front gate, not knowing the horror that was behind those gates. As I walked in the streets, I noticed that no one was outside. It was night, but people still regular were walking outside at the hour. Then I turned a corner, and saw the first pile of body's. They were there, on the streets, blood pooling around them, just laying there, lifeless. They were slaughtered, in the streets. After moving from that horror, I started to run, turning corner after corner, seeing horror after horror, constantly worried about my family, my mom, dad, and even, Itachi." He stated Itachi, with an incredible amount of distain. "Growing up, he was always my gentle, kind older brother. So Kami knows what pushed him to do something like this. But that doesn't matter. After reaching my house, I rushed into the living room, and saw them." He starts to shed a couple of tears at reaching this point, having to relive the worst night of his life. "They were there, on the ground, my own mother and father, lifeless, in the middle of our home. Then, behind him, stood him, Itachi. He looked as if he didn't care at all, his face emotionless as ever, and threw a shirakan at my left shoulder, cutting it. I meet his eyes, and was bring into this weird distortion of a world, and watched him go from house to house, street to street, and slaughter everyone I have every known. Aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, infants, children, any Uchiha human died that night. And I watched them die, helplessly. I screamed at him why, why do something this unthinkable, this horrific. He just said, 'To test the limits of my power'. I still hear his words, see his image. He then told him about how he had unlocked his Mangekyo Sharingan, by killing his best friend, Shiuhi Uchiha. He told me that he thinks I can unlock Mangekyo Sharingan, if I fester enough hated, and I think he is right. The reason I'm so cold, stoic, expressionless; isn't because I'm 'preparing to be a Jonin', it's so I can fester enough hatred to unlock Mangekyo Sharingan, and I'll be dammed if I stop now." As Sasuke finished, he wiped the tears furiously off on his shoulder as he wrapped his story up. In the other room, there were faces of shock, sadness, and anger. Naruto's whiskers were thicker at Sasuke's story. Sakura was crying, as her crush let his story fall from his mouth. In that moment, she realized what she was doing wrong. She shouldn't try to be his girlfriend, she should try to be his friend. Someone who is there for him about this stuff.
"Are you happy? Does my pain and agony suffice?" Sasuke asked rhetorical to Kakashi. When Kakashi didn't answer, Sasuke knew this conversation was over. "Get out." Sasuke ordered at Kakashi. Kakashi obliged. As Kakashi swiftly made his way out, he then made his way in the other room, filled with his comrades.
"Well I think I know what to do." Kakashi said plainly getting everyone's attention. "I should give him what he wants. I think I should train him, alone." Getting a understandings look by everyone in the room.
"Well that shouldn't be a problem, seeing as I will take Sakura and Jiraya got Naruto. Well, I got places to be, come on Sakura." Tsunade said non-chantily. Sakura turned to the emotionless Sasuke one more time, then Naruto actually bursted out of there room and into the Sasuke's. Everyone knew then was no talking to the blonde, so Kakashi and Tsunade just went back inside the observation room.
"What do you want?" Sasuke said, unable to keep the hatred from his mouth.
"You know Sasuke, I'm going to be training with Pervy sage for the next three years, so I think you should train with Kakashi for a while. I mean, I'm going to be stronger then you anyway, so you could at least put up a fight." Naruto said with a wide, teasing grin. Sasuke narrowed his eyes for a second, then went into a small smile.
"Yeah, maybe I will. Now leave, your going to need the most amount of training to beat me, loser." Sasuke said, teasing. Naruto turned around with a loud laugh, glad that he was able to save Sasuke because he really didn't want these moments to end. Everyone smiled as he realized what he had just done, ensure that he wouldn't run away again, by saying that he would grow stronger then Sasuke is.
The scene switch's to an Akatsuki meeting.
"It seems that the Nine-tails Jinchuriki was able to make Itachi's brother get knocked due to charka exhaustion. The Uchiha seemed to be fleeing the village but he had to fight the Nine-tails in order to leave the land of fire, but it ended in a draw." Zetsu said, relaying the fight to his criminal friend's. Itachi stood there, eyes emotionless, but on the inside, he was very happy that his younger brother had a friend that treated him as a brother.
"So Orochimaru has interest in the Sharingan eh? Well it doesn't matter. We have three years to prepare." A shadowy figure said.
"Your right. We shouldn't get caught up in our former member's behaviour." Another shadowy figure says.
The scene switch's again to Orochimaru's hideout.
"They were unsuccessful? Well it doesn't matter. We still have three years until the next transition, and I doubt Sasuke will be left alone for a minute now, so I say we just sit and wait." Orochimaru said, lying back in his chair.
"Our sources say that Naruto will be leaving the village to train for three years, so we can only assume Sasuke will be doing the same. He will probably be accompanied by Kakashi, so I say we just wait and see as well." Kabuto said, walking with his master.
The scene sifts again to the outside gate of the hidden leaf, where you could see Team 7, Jiraya, and Tsunade all stood, saying there momentary goodbyes. Sasuke didn't say anything to Jiraya or Tsunade, but he gave an awkward goodbye to Sakura, who apparently was now under Tsunade, to Sasuke's interest. It finally landed on Naruto.
"Well Sasuke, I hope you train to the best of your ability, cause your going to need it the next time we face off." Naruto said confidently.
"Yeah, you can keep telling yourself that, Uzumaki. Come on Kakashi, I don't want to waste time with this sappy stuff." Sasuke said, walking back into the village.
Kakashi sighed then said "I really hope this isn't going to be our relationship for the next few years."
And with that, Naruto and Jiraya were off, running out the village with reckless abandon.
'There really similar, if you think about. Both want to be the best possible ninja they be, both don't have family's, and both constantly want to be better then the other. If I were Sakura, I would have asked for a replacement long ago.' Tsunade thought to herself, going to the training centre with Sakura. That was it, Sasuke would be with Kakashi, Naruto with Jiraya, and Sakura with Tsunade, for the next two and a half years.
