Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Lily and Remi at Baker Beach Part 1

The last time, I helped Remi with his work. I had a memory of Rémi and me alone.

As we got in the car, how about we could go to the Bay Area? I asked. Rémi looked at me. Why would you like to go there? He asked. It's because I always wanted to see it for my own two eyes. I replied. He smiled. Sure let's go. Rémi replied. As we drove off, I could tell how angry my father was. Why did she go off with him again? Minato asked. Dad stops this, it wasn't his fault for what happened. Yoshio replied. What do you know? Minato asked. My precious little sister lost her memories because of your petty vendetta with a man. Yoshio replied. Minato glared. Knock it off you two! Mai yelled. Maiko? Minato asked. Dad, I want you to listen to me. Rémi found her by chance that day. It was his day off. He brought her back with no recollection of what happened to her. Mai replied. What? Minato asked. That's what had happened. You've blamed him for something he never did. He never corrected you because he's indebted to you. Mai replied. Lily has always made him smile in the midsts of all the troubles he had dealt with. Yoshio replied.

When we made a suggestion, we chose to go to Baker Beach.

We parked in the parking lot above. I ran down. Hey watch yourself. Rémi replied. Stop being such a worry wart. I replied. People started whispering. Hey isn't that the girl who got into that terrible accident a year ago? Rémi looked at them and shook his head. Hey what are they talking about, an accident? I asked. Don't worry about them Lily, we came out for fun right? Rémi asked. Yeah. I replied. We ran around I put my feet in the water. The sea is so soothing and relaxing, huh? I asked. Yeah, it is. It feels so good not hearing your father bark orders at me. Rémi replied. That reminds me. Why do you let my dad talk and look down on you? I asked. Your father actually saved me from my previous life. Rémi replied. What do you mean? I asked. We both sat down on a towel in his trunk. Growing up in a household with an abusive father and junkie for a mother. They found love, and then I came around soon after. Rémi replied. I'm sorry to ask. I replied. It's fine. My father was racking up debts he couldn't pay. He sold me off to pay his debt to your father, Lily. Rémi replied. All I want to do is feel sympathy for him. I thought. Lily is fine, I was practically raising myself anyways. Rémi replied. When I was sold off, I told my mother as soon she escaped and comes clean. I would go to see her. Rémi replied. That's so sweet of you, Rémi. I replied. He smiled. I'm getting kind of hungry again. I replied. Same for me. Rémi replied. We walked over to a little restaurant. Welcome. Mare replied. Hey it's been awhile Rémi. Mare replied. Wait, what are you doing back here? Remi asked. Oh, don't be a prude. I am an abroad student taking up the Bay Area tourist attractions. I even got a job working here part-time. Mare replied. Whatever. Rémi replied. You know Rémi you aren't as gloomy as you used to be. Mare replied. He was once gloomy? I thought. What made you happy, linger on to that and stay happy. Mare replied. He spaced out for a moment. Rémi had a flashback. You know Rémi, I haven't seen you smile in a while, keep it up. Mare replied. I agree. I replied.

Stay Tuned.
