Two days had passed since the gym incident and Clover hasn't ushered a word nor flashed anyone her angelic smile. Her eyes didn't hold the same curious gleam they held when she first arrived, they were now just two ordinary green orbs staring in the distance.
The others were tense all the time because they were present when Liam lashed at Clover, they saw how his words had affected her, and it affected them as well.
Clover headed for the cafeteria at lunch time after a long four hours of practicing a spell. She had been working on portals and was looking forward to master the spell, but it required a lot of energy to fold space and it left her drained and hungry. She passed a few other agents who greeted her enthusiastically, but she only nodded at them. Since after the day Liam got mad at her, she had been more self conscious around the Guard members. She felt so embarrassed that she wanted to hide in her room and never get out.
She hasn't seen Liam often either, but in the rare occasions they met eye to eye, she would just lower her gaze and walk the other way. What Liam said was hurtful but it was true, she couldn't protect the people with her abilities, they were just useless as means of defense. At that thought, she felt as if something had just detached from her, like a hand had just ripped it out, and her ears started ringing. It happened too the day of Liam's outburst at the gym, but every time it gets worse and worse.
There was to be a meeting this afternoon and Clover felt anxious at the thought. Since she was a member of the special team led by Liam, he was calling the shots for them, so she had to attend the meeting. She sat at her usual spot next to Claire who smiled when she saw her. "Hey Clover, haven't seen you most of the day" Claire said, biting into a slice of pizza. Clover look at her for a moment before putting her spell book on top of the table.
"Spellwork, so you were learning a new spell? " Clover nodded and proceeded to take a bite of her own pizza when suddenly, the doors opened revealing none than Liam Gunderson. He had his usual stoic air about him radiating dominance. He turned his head and their eyes met, Clover felt breathless all of a sudden. There was something about the way Liam's eye that she couldn't decipher, but she just was captivated every time.
Clover felt someone nudge her side and she turned to see Claire eye her with a small smile. "Stop eating him with your eyes, people are gonna notice" Clover blushed and lowered her head so no one would see. She couldn't look up again, not when she looked like a tomato. When she thought she was getting herself back to normal again, her heart started beating frantically. She felt hot all over and her stomach coiled in knots. She lifted her head and let out a small gasp, Liam was sitting directly in front of her.
He was casually eating and not paying anyone no mind. Claire cleared her throat and looked expectantly at Liam, who now was glancing Clover's way. He felt her anxiousness radiating in waves through her, but he could also smell her arousal. That made his wolf fuzzy inside and he was also starting to feel aroused himself. It also happened two days ago, when his wolf went to comfort Clover.
She was crying under the same three they met for the first time. She hugged him tightly until her sobs quieted down. He felt terrible for what he said to her, but he couldn't face her when he felt that guilty. He doubted that Clover would even look at him after what he did. She had told him how she felt About his human form, she told him how she had feelings for Liam but he didn't feel the same and probably hated her.
Liam didn't yet figure out his feelings for Clover but he knew his wolf had grown attached to her and liked her, but he himself didn't know where he stood. As much as he tried to avoid her, he would find himself in her way time after time. He wasn't one to confide in anyone but he needed to apologize but he didn't know how to, blame his pride and ego. He went to Claire for advice because Claire was closer to Clover than anyone in the team. Claire was surprised at Liam's request because Liam wasn't known to ask people for this kind of help, nevertheless she found it as an opportunity. She told him to approach Clover slowly and get to know her before he does anything else.
Liam knew who Clover was, the daughter of the headmaster of Arcadia, but he never actually talked to her, mainly due to the fact that she didn't talk to many people. By now, in a span of two days, his wolf had grown more attached to her, he longed for her touch. He was now starting to notice small details he overlooked before, like how she always had a flower in her hair, how she would bite her bottom lip when she's reading a book, how her eyes gave different nuances in the light, and how she had a natural sway in her hips when she walked. He shook his head to get rid of the thoughts, he was sure his wolf was the cause, but was he, or is Liam really catching feelings for Clover Reed.
