Chereads / Power of Cipher / Chapter 28 - Dead!

Chapter 28 - Dead!

Stepping through the puddle of blood Cipher started his assault. Bringing his left blade down, Cipher aimed his slash towards the arm that the Nightmare had just used to bisect the women. Cipher's blade was able to make contact causing the Nightmare to make a hissing sound as if it was a snake. Cipher watched as the Nightmare recoiled its arm, it seemed as though it was examining the cut that Cipher had just dealt with the one twin star. After looking over its arm the Nightmare stared back at Cipher giving off a high-pitched scream it shot its arm back out towards Cipher missing his face by only centimeters. Cipher having been paying attention was able to just barely dodge the incoming attack by shifting his head to the side, providing him an opening to bring his right blade up giving the Nightmares arm yet another cut causing a piece of its arm to fall to the ground.

Watching a piece of its arm fall off caused the Nightmare to go berserk, bulking up its body it shot out its left arm at Cipher and then using its whole body as a weapon, charged him. The Nightmare quickly closed the distance between him and Cipher, then after recoiling its right arm it brought it down on top of Cipher. Cipher was able to react quickly enough bringing his blades up in cross-shape defense blocking incoming attack. This however left Cipher no time to react to the Nightmare as it twisted and recoiled its arm, while simultaneously whipping its free arm around slamming Cipher into the wall. Cipher not expecting this method of attack was caught completely off guard, which caused him to lose grip on both his blade. This left Cipher with no way to protect himself when the Nightmare took the same arm that Cipher damaged and brought it down onto Ciphers. It only took a moment for Cipher to feel an extreme burning pain accompanied by the feeling of having something ripped of him. Looking to his right Cipher could see that his arm was now missing, what Cipher found really odd was that one moment he was looking at the spot where his arm was, and the next moment he could see the blue sky.

[Cipher - Wow the sky is really pretty] that was the last thought that went through Cipher's mind before he impacted the ground. Tank hearing a loud crash looked up to seeing Cipher fall from the third story of the build, Tank wasn't the only one that noticed Cipher descent there were onlookers and medics that were all watching as Cipher fell. With an impact that sounded like a watermelon impacting concrete, Cipher hit the ground causing a large volume of blood to leave his body and spread across the area. Tank, having been watching began running in the direction that he expected Cipher to land. He knew there was likely nothing he could do for him, but if there was even a small chance he could help Cipher he would do everything he could.

While Tank was on his way towards Cipher in a futile effort to save him, Cipher was on the ground and all over it depending on how you looked at him. While Cipher was laying on the ground, his mind was in a black void similar to the void he was in before coming to the Land of Dreams.

Cipher felt as if he was floating, felt like he was floating for an extremely long time before he heard a voice speak out from the void. {Goddess of the Void ~ Hello again Cipher, Wish we could have met under better circumstances, but it looks like you may have been killed during your most recent fight.} {Cipher ~ The last thing I remember seeing the open blue sky and then the feeling of impacting something hard. But how am I here with you I thought you could only visit this place if you died, if I am immortal then I shouldn't be able to die?} There was a moment of pause before the Goddess spoke, {You are correct, you are immortal but you can still "die" momentarily, during that time you and I can meet. While I have you are here there is something I would like to discuss. I will begin with a question, "What are you?"} Cipher had a long moment of pause he understood the question, but at the same time, he didn't understand how he was supposed to respond.

{Cipher ~ I am human aren't I?} { Goddess of the Void ~ That Cipher is incorrect, you may have the overall physical appearance of a human, but you are not what is considered human by your standards. Cipher you are one of my Knights of Light, you are no longer that boy that had to hideaway. As a Knight of Light, you have the ability to protect those in the light from the darkness that threatens to consume them. I want you to understand Cipher not only are you one of my Knights of Light, but you are also one of the few I selected to be a Counter. You are strong and given time, have the ability to become my most powerful Knight. Do not limit yourself by some preconceived idea that you are human, your abilities far surpass that of a human's. Now that time is almost up your consciousness will soon return to your body, but before that happens I have decided to give you a parting gift. When you awake speak these two words while thinking of your swords, "return now".}

Before Cipher could ask another question or even say goodbye his focus shifted to a bright blue sky with a single white cloud rolling past. As the white cloud disappeared from Ciphers' view his senses began to return and he could hear Tank yelling out his name. Cipher tried to speak but he was having a difficult time, slowly trying to pick up his body he gave Tank the 'OK' symbol with his hand. He hadn't realized it before, but he now had both his arms again. Standing up, Cipher held his hands out to the side and spoke the words that the Goddess of the Void had told him to, "Return Now!"
