The door slammed shut ahead of me as Charlie got out of the car, already yelling at the top of his lungs at the intruder. I turned around, squinting, trying to clear my eyes to study our mystery man. Or...woman.
She was pretty short, but I know not to underestimate people by their lack of height. It might be fun to bully them about, but that shortness can come as an advantage. It was a bitch to kill Alex and that fucker barely made 5'6.
I grabbed for Charlie's hands and formed his fingers into a nervous <
Charlie glared but nodded.
I shook the hair out of my eyes and… well I couldn't really make out her face. My eyesight isn't the best. Sometimes it clears and mostly it doesn't. Screw people that can see, am I right? Charlie was whispering about her sharp, observant eagle gaze. I already hate her.
Charlie's got actual eyesight too. So does…mostly everyone. I always bonded with Sam over our lack sight. She was totally blind though. Got her eyes clawed out by some asshole in a bar way back. Don't worry; he was killed slowly and painfully. I kept him chained up in the back of the old house we were staying at. I had to slit his throat though when Valin started complaining about the smell.
<
<< Dude. Chill out. I'm just trying to introduce you to this nice lady, Bendy.>>
Oh yeah. I turned to look at her. She held a gun in both hands, one cocked at me and one Charlie respectively. I reached in my pockets for my notebook, but there was nothing in them but the pebble, a half empty pack of gum, a nail, and my fidget spinner. I looked up, panicking slightly. Charlie sighed and waved the notebook in front of me. He remembered it for me. :)
I held my hand out to take it and he turned around and chucked it in the other direction. That asshole.
I tackled him and scrambled to hold his head in place so I could carve his nose off his stupid fucking face. I shoved my hand into my pocket and gripped the nail. It would have to do. I stabbed into his cheek and tried to drag the nail up towards his eyeball, but I got pulled back roughly.
Whipping around in outrage, I looked for who grabbed me. Little miss shortcake. The vague impression I could make of her face was looking at me as if I was insane, and to be fair, I probably am. I pushed her into the Conveniently Placed Garbage Can that was behind her and turned back around to see Charlie clutching at his face, moaning dramatically.
My foot hurt. I started walking toward the direction my notebook had flown and sighed, getting on my hands and knees to feel around and began chirping in an attempt to use echolocation. I can't fucking see.
<
I turned to my thank you page and flipped it around for her to see. Her face lifted up into a smile. <
We got back to the car and I went to Charlie, satisfied to see some red on his blurry face. Do we have enough stuff to clean out some foot wounds and dress them?
He glared at me and said, <
Confused, I looked behind me only to see…poof. Nothing.
I sighed and started limping towards the car, grabbing the awful blanket I dropped along the way, feeling rather dejected. Not even a goodbye.
Charlie walked after me, asking what happened to my foot. It was then that I remembered my own foot was probably a little fucked up from the Pebble Incident. What a convenient reminder. I patted my pocket, making sure the pebble was still there. I went in the passenger side and set the blanket carefully on the chair before sliding in and collapsing onto the seat. Charlie opened the door and I hissed at him.
Charlie just glared, unfazed. <
I wiped down my foot and grabbed at the tape, taping my foot up nice and tight. I looked down at my stupid, stupid companion and tilted my head a little, considering. I got a bandage and peeled off the cover & grabbed at Charlie's chin, forcing his head up as I placed the bandage down and patted the corners to seal it. I dropped my hands into my lap before hesitating. The sun was almost completely down. The stars were starting to come out. Pretty.
<
Charlie snorted and stood up, patting my head as he passed by to put the supplies away in the trunk. I saw Shortcake start coming up my side of the car through the rearview mirror. I waited till she made it up right next to me and slammed the door in her face. She knocked on the glass. I ignored her and settled down for the night, smiling a little when I heard her huff of annoyance.
The driver door opened and glanced over, eyes widening when I saw shortcake climbing into my car. I poked her with my knife. Get. Out.
The warning was ignored & I saw red.
