It's been three days, and I'm still here at the hospital. I've been undergoing through a lot of tests to see if there're still complications with my mental and physical health. Three days passed, and Vaness never visited me again. I can't blame her because we've been sisters, and I held my secret until now. She might be absorbing it little by little. I tried to contact her many times, but she was out of reach. Friela and Yui was with me here all this time.
"Still thinking about Vaness?" Yui put her phone on the desk and sat beside me.
"Sort of. I wonder what she's doing." I looked at the window.
"She'll be fine. We were shocked that you hid everything from us, after all. She probably can't accept it easily. Let her mind be at ease for the mean time." She said.
Her phone kept on ringing. "I hate all of this calls. The media are trying to get inside of the hospital. Thank goodness the hospital wanted you to have your privacy. Why can't they just understand that you're not yet okay? Arrgh!" Yui ruined her hair out of frustration. I smiled a bit.
"Thanks for worrying, Yui." My smile widened.
"Of course you're my friend, and I am your manager. I can't just leave you alone with those greedy people. Especially when you almost died from the stampede the last time they wanted an interview." She said.
"That's over exaggerating." I laughed a bit.
Friela went inside with the foods that she bought. Pizza and fries.
"Give it to me, give it to me!" I almost jumped out of my bed to get the pizza. It was still hot, thank goodness, "Oh. I love pizza!" I cried out of joy, but Yui tapped my hand.
"Listen, Lucy. I'll let you off this time with these junk foods, alright?" She said.
"Yes, ma'am!" I salute to her, and gnawed the pizza. This is heaven! It is overloaded with melted cheeses.
Friela smiled while drinking her milk tea.
We're enjoying our food when we heard a sudden knock on the door. Our eyes' met.
"Are you expecting some visitors?" Yui asked me. I shook my head. "You Friela?" Friela shook her head as well.
"It might be Vaness." I answered.
"No, even if you both fight we knew that she never knock on our doors." Friela said.
"Well, you got a point. I don't have an idea then." I said.
Yui sighed, "That might be one of the media. Let me get it." She went to open the door, we heard a manly voice.
"You? Wait, what are you doing here?" Yui asked the person behind the door.
"Who's that, Yui?" Friela asked.
Yui widely opened the door and let the person in.
"Hello, Lucy!" he greeted me with his smile and white canine teeth.
"Canum?" I squinted my eyes, "what are you doing here?"
"Ouch. Why does it feels like I am not welcome here." He became sad.
"It's not like that. It's just we're not that close friend, right?" I said straightforwardly.
"But I told you already, right? I want to be your friend. Especially when I saw how you do your own stunt in the film we both acted and how kind you are." He explained.
I sighed. Yes, he's an actor. We're working on a same network. His main genres are mysteries and actions. He was the leading man on one of the project that I worked on. I was the leading actress, but there are not much lovey-dovey on that film. It's all do or die. That was the film where I was electrocuted.
"The last time we met you got electrocuted, and now you were kidnapped. Do you have a stalker or an enemy?" He asked.
"Let's not talk about that." I shifted my gaze.
"Ooh. I smell something fishy, but anyway I came here to formally say I wanted to be your knight in shining armor." Canum utter.
The three of us shifted our gaze towards him. "Huh?!" Friela and Yui said in unison.
"In Layman's term, bodyguard. Isn't it?" I laugh a bit.
Canum put his index finger on his chin, "Sort of." He nodded repeatedly.
"Why would you do that?" Yui asked this time.
"Why? Come to think of it. First, Lucy was a known martial artist, but I know she's fragile. She's mortal. Second, I wanted to be by her side. You two are her friends, but where were you when she was kidnapped?" His words are all straightforward and blunt. Both of them can't defy his words.
"You don't have to blame them for what happened. It's also my fault for being so careless." I said. Well, I wasn't being careless. It felt like my mind and body froze at that moment. Then the kidnapper came to me in just split second. I don't know what or why, but that's what I remember.
"Gaze of eyes, pulse, breathing, iris." he said.
"Huh?" I asked.
"Do you know why I specializes on mystery genre? It's because I'm not just an actor who act like I am a detective. You always shift your gaze whenever you lie. I know you were not careless. Probably you were surprised that's why you forgot to fought back." He explained.
This is what I hate about him. His observation skills. "What do you want to point out, then?"
"You want me to continue? Alright. Let's have some list of possibilities. Number one, you were surprised because you knew who your kidnapper was. Maybe his face is familiar or you really knew him beforehand. Number two, you were surprised because he was too fast. Too fast that you didn't have time to react on his movement, or number three" His facial expression became serious, "both." he finished his explanation.
I shrugged, "I don't know. Maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong." I said.
"In any way, I guess there is something behind through these incidents. Someone might be targeting your life, and I can't accept that." Canum said.
"Why? So you're saying it's alright for you to risk your life for my friend?" Friela asked.
"If you were in my shoe, you would do the same, right?" He asked Friela.
"Well, yes. Because she's my best friend. But, as she said earlier both of you aren't that close." She answered.
"I will help not because we're close friend. I want to help when I feel like someone needed my help. Lucy is worth saving, worth fighting for. Whether you say that we're not friends and we're just acquaintances, I won't change my mind." Canum said.
I don't know what to say. I feel flattered, but it's too early to feel relief. I don't trust words, I don't know if it is safe or dangerous. I don't want to risk my trust to someone who can say anything to anyone. I sighed.
"I'm thankful, Canum. There are still people like you, but I can't totally trust your word. We're actors and actresses, our job is to act. I don't know how to weigh your words, but if you won't change your mind then maybe I'll just let you do what you want." I explained.
"Really?!" His eyes sparkled like a child, "I'll make sure not to break any of my words then, but first of all can I have a slice of that pizza?" He asked.
"No!" I lifted the box of pizza and hugged it.
"Please!" He insisted.
"I'm sure you got a lot of project than me. You're healthy and alive kicking. You have a lot of money, so buy your own pizza!" I put the box far from him.
"Now I know why you can't fight back with your kidnappers. It's because you're so fat. Maybe your belly is big now, that's why you can't kick properly." Canum get a piece of french fries, and waved it at my face.
"You think so?" My energy came back to life, "I'm fat?" I asked.
"Yes, you're fat~" He teased me.
Yui and Friela suddenly storm out of the room.
I pulled his arm and threw him in the air.
"OUCH! My spinal cord!" He shouted.
"Now, tell me. Who's worth protecting, huh?" I asked.
