Bryan spent the following morning with Bernadette and Walter. The latter had gotten permission to stay away from school till the threat on his life was fully resolved.
Bernadette was a bit more cheerful than yesterday especially after he informed her about the case and that they had all the evidence needed to convict John McCoy and Stephanie Munroe. She laughed when he told her about how they tricked the lawyer to get a confession from the suspect.
"That was hilarious. I wish I had been there!" her eyes glimmered a bit as she said that.
"Well," Bryan tapped her forehead, "it looks like I'm back to work and it's going to be boring as hell without you."
She smiled and caressed his cheek, it's been long they spent time like this. Although it's only been a few days yet to her it felt like a few weeks. The case, her volunteering for the academy, the attempt on her brother's life and the stress had kept them close yet a little bit apart.
