Chereads / A Wolfy Christmas Romance / Chapter 9 - EPILOGUE

Chapter 9 - EPILOGUE

Henry and I were married on New Years Day. Basically, he asked me when I wanted the wedding and I answered "sometime next year" thinking that this would give us some time to get to know each other better. Henry nodded, "Okay."

And the next thing I knew, the invites were printed with the date 1 January.

I really should have seen that one coming.

Serene was my maid of honor. I even had bridesmaids. I asked Mona, and Mackenzie, Charbear and Sam and they all said yes! I guess I should explain a little:

I asked Serene cos she was like my human best friend, and because I didn't want Mona to feel left out, I asked her too. Of course I had to ask Kenken who was way more excited than I expected. It seemed that weddings were kind of exotic to wolves so it would be her first wedding.

And then Charbear came to apologize, for her dad and also for herself, but I told her I understood. She said she wanted to make it up to me, so I asked her and she agreed. I think she thought it was going to be something terrible so she was quite surprised when the worst task was to help out with the decor.

And then Sam happened to come over before the new year just to eat strawberry parfait which she told me was the best in the continent, and I just asked her off the bat, since she was my roommate and all, and to my surprise, she said, "Sure. I'm strong. I can take it."

Sam had the same strange idea that Charbear had about being the bridesmaid. I don't know what or why.

And then there was some drama when Kenken found out that Charbear was going to also be the bridesmaid. They fought - like really fought to kill each other. Pete was pretty worried. Henry said a catfight never hurt anyone. Anyway, by morning they were the best of friends again.

And then Kenken and Charbear decided they definitely didn't like Mona. Sigh... Kenken was really one of the cheerleader girls at heart. They really bullied Mona whenever my back was turned. And then Serene stepped up as my maid of honor and totally gave them a tongue lashing. I cried hearing it cos she was that fierce.

After that everyone listened to Serene. Even Sam. Sam was the Alpha, but she turned out to be the most easy going one. She went about even the most menial tasks happily, setting up and then making sure to pick up the small pieces of material we dropped so that we always left the area clean after preparation work.

I really didn't expect that. Neither did Kenken or Charbear. They were downright shocked that Serene tasked an alpha to tie ribbons to chairs.

And then I found out that Henry didn't know he needed a best man and groomsmen. Or that the groomsmen had nothing to do with horses. OMG. We now had eight pedigree matching horses because Henry thought the groomsmen needed them.

After that confusion was cleared up, Henry chose Pete to be his best man.

Serene nearly died of happiness when she found out that the groomsmen were the three hot unmated betas of the green packlands and a Beta Marcus from the next door pack, who he used to go to school with.

So for the wedding march in, Pete and Kenken walked first, followed by an extremely happy Serene and politely smiling Harvey, and then Mona walked with Ki, Sam with Ben, and Charbear with Marcus.

Marcus turned out to be friends with Sam too. Henry, Marcus, and Sam used to go to highschool together... It was a scary sounding experimental school which had vampires in every class.

What's more shocking was that Marcus also turned out to be Charbear's mate. They didn't even want to link arms to walk down the aisle at the first rehearsal, but by the dress rehearsal, Charbear was clearly marked. It was like teethmarks between her neck and shoulder. Scary. I'm glad I wasn't a wolf... And then I remembered I was going to mate a wolf. No way. No friggin way.

Eventually, I totally freaked out just the night before the wedding. Like I just melted down, froze up, and cried. I didn't dare to get married to Henry, and I didn't dare to not get married any more after everyone have worked so hard to put the entire wedding together, and I didn't dare tell anyone what was wrong.

The girls were really worried. Henry seriously freaked out because he could feel it through our mating bond. He wasn't allowed to come and see me though, so he texted me a hundred times and then finally called me.

Mum was the hero, she took the phone and told him that it was just cold feet and very normal for human brides, everything would be fine.

And I guess Mums always knew best, because everything was fine. More than fine.

Because I woke up on my wedding day and decided that even though I'm terrified, I loved him. And I did want to marry him and be his mate. So I tried to not think about the scary part later and focus on the wedding.

And the wedding was perfect. And Henry was perfect. And it was really, really perfect.

Of course I cried a river. But Henry was really, really perfect.

"So sweet, my honey" he had murmured into my hair just before we fell asleep.

"Why do wolves always say I'm sweet?" I asked.

"Who said that?" Henry stopped purring and propped himself up so that his face was just above mine.

"You just did, and well... Most wolves would comment on it. Like that I'm a sweet Luna. What does that mean?" I asked.

"Oh." Henry smirked. He relaxed against the pillows, "it's your scent. You smell like honey."

Oh.

That was pretty literal.

After that, Henry transferred colleges to Gate City Business College too. Because he wanted to stay in the same room with me, he told Sam that she was delusional and would NEVER be a normal college student, "Just go back to James' bed where you belong."

"Bell belongs on MY bed!" Sam flared. Like I've never seen her mad until I saw her with Henry. The two of them was like water and oil.

"Then take your bed to his room!" Henry shot back.

They were loud and scary and Ki had kindly opened the door for me to escape.

Out in the corridor, Harvey was waiting outside. He gave me a polite bow and then tried to assure me, "They're always like this. It shows they are good friends."

Finally it was settled when James stalked out of his room and burst through the door growling.

"Luna is here." Ki announced placidly.

"Sam. My bed. Now."

"Thank you." Henry smirked.

Sam growled. Her hair flared up in a terrifying way. And then she stormed out of the room, James following behind her smirking.

"I'll have her things packed." Ki said to Harvey who was still beside me.

Harvey nodded and informed Henry, "I'll take care of the paperwork for the room change. Welcome to Gate City Business College, Alpha Henry."

"Thanks, Harv. I'll leave it to you then."

"If you need anything, we'll just be across the hall. Our Luna and Alpha are just next door to you." Ki told us as we re-entered our dorm.

And then he looked at me, looking at Henry, looking at me, and decided, "I'll come back and pack later. Please excuse me."

Henry didn't even acknowledge Ki's departure. He stepped towards me and I stepped towards him.

He was doing the Alpha thing again. Taking for granted that the whole world should step aside and wait for him.

And then our lips met, the smell of autumn leaves, the tingling sensations when we touch, like waves on the beach, each wave never quite the same as the other, the constant purring from deep within his chest, making me feel like it's true, the world did stop for us to kiss.

"When would you like to have pups?" Henry asked against my lips.

"Ask me again after we graduate." I said, because I was older and wiser now.

"Okay." Henry said.

I've always been a normal human girl, I've always been a scardy cat. I've always been more of the type of girl who reads and draws by herself, but little by little, I'm learning that I can love and be loved, I can smile and make new friends, I can be kind and stay true to who I am, I can be brave even when I'm crying.

Like Sam liked to tell me, "Humans are the wildcards. They can be anything. Humans are amazing."

Yeah, we can be amazing like that.
