Chereads / The Angels of The False God / Chapter 4 - Forest

Chapter 4 - Forest

They left the path and plunged themselves into the forest. But before they can run away, they are discovered by dwarf cavalry.

One, two, three… "three dwarves! Another one over there, four in total!" Lord Partner shouted.

Blatt murmured a spell, knelt down and pulled out the stick, pointing forward to set a huge wall of fire.

The goats feared to fire and refused to get closer, just like their hoofs are softened. The dwarves dismounted and approached on foot.

·

Lord Partner accumulated his strength, suddenly screamed and fought the headed dwarf.

The dwarf was very short, but had stronger arms than humans'. Partner wielded the sword, and the dwarf counter-back with a war-hammer.

The sword crossed the hammer and sparked, his arm was shocked and it hurt badly.

The dwarf gasped and pushed the sword out, "Lord Partner, say hello to the god for me after you die."

And Lord Partner replied, "Have a good trip when you are going to hell."

·

The dwarf turned his eyes upwards to stare at Patner, his forehead flushed red. He screamed and swept the hammer to Partner.

Lord Partner held up the shield to defend this smash, and endured the dull pain.

He struck the sword to the dwarf's head with all his strength, cut into the skull for deeper than three inches.

Then he rode on the dying dwarf, rammed his face with a small shield, and pulled out the sword to repeatedly split his brain.

Tico was terribly scared. she cried and concealed her face with hands from seeing the bloody scene.

·

Although Blatt tried to separate the other foes by walls of fire, the dwarves bypassed the fire and dashed to them.

Lord Partner stood up, but he was winded, and his left arm was not flexible after blocking the hammer smash.

·

"Priest, …" Blatt shouted to tell him to run.

He lasered three rays of fire to cover Partner, but that was not ineffective to stop the dwarves on this rainy day.

·

"Run!" Said Lord Partner, but himself held the position. He decided to fight the dwarves to make some time for his daughter to run.

"Daddy!" "Daddy will follow you later!"

"Go." Blatt pushed Tico to run. But once he turned back to do some help, Lord Partner said, "Take her to Paudary."

"No!" Tico struggled to return to her father and Blatt could hardly stop her.

"Listen to me, my girl. Daddy will see you later with your mama."

·

Tico ran through trees and trees, and jumped over the gape of rocks.

She lost one shoe, the hair was in a mess, the clothes were cut, and her face was scratched. She ran slower and slower, and soonly was exhausted.

Blatt was worse. The wounds were bleeding and blood spreaded on the bandage, revealing two pieces of red on his back where the shirt was tattered.

The battlescreams reached them through the forest, and resounded in terror.

·

"Is daddy all right?"

"Of course. He is the best fighter and will defeat the foes." Blatt is not good at lying, so he comforted Tico with a shabby tone.

"Erhhhh!" A dwarf rider galloped down from the hill with his goat.

Blatt took Tico's hand, turned to the other side to escape, shot fireballs to fight back.

The fireball fell on the trunk and went out immediately. The goat jumped forward vigorously.

When Tico was nearly caught up, a fireball hit the goat's face. The goat fell over, and threw the dwarf out.

Blatter released Tico and turned back. Now he freed both hands and gathered all his arcana power, and swung his stick pointing to the dwarf.

The dwarf stood up with his sabre, but a fireball was shot at him and then a huge cylinder of fire enveloped him.

·

Hearing the heartbreaking shrieks, Blatt caught up with Tick and led her run again.

"He will die, but I have ran out all the power...Ahhh!"

Blatt fell on one knee, put his right hand on his left shoulder, showing an arrow between his fingers, and the shaft and feathers were on the back of his shoulders.

Tick wanted to cheer him up, but Blatt could not bear it.

·

"Run!" Said Blatt. He gave up to survive.

"Be a warrior!" Tico grasped his hand, and pulled him up.

She dragged him for a few yards, but there was a dwarf cut their way, and another two appeared on flanks.

Blatt tried all his best, but could only make a weak and useless flame, which was snubbed out by the wind and the rain.
