He was being a douche bag for no reason. First he sees the accident but doesn't do anything to help and when she asks for it he make her give him something in return, something she still doesn't know what it entails. She was grateful for his help but it was coming at a price that he set, not from the selfless heart. She is earning it so she doesn't need to pay him back by doing as he says every damn time.
Alaina leaned to the side of the door to wait for them. it took Alaina half hour to get to this house, it wasn't even raining back then. Surely it would take somewhere around that time for him to return even if he knows the way like the back of his hand.
